How to decontaminate and PROTECT in one step!
HTML-код

- This video shows a phenomenal way to decontaminate your vehicle and protect it -- all in one step. The method is perfect for those "in between" months when you don't intend to go all out on a super intensive detail. Let's say you washed and decontaminated with Iron Remover and the decon towel. You took your time, the paint was silky smooth after. You really cleaned out the pores of your paint. Now what?
This method is all about keeping up on contamination that might be embedding itself into your paint in the weeks and months to come. It can be done as infrequently as every six months, or as frequently as every couple of weeks. As long as your technique is sound, you won't be marring the paint with our decontamination towel. And the fact that you're using Ceramic Gloss (or Quick Beads) as your lubrication is just an efficient way to protect at the same time!

All I can say is - you're method of decontaminating paint is first class - by far the best method.
Thanks 👍
The way you all talk to each other while also talking to the viewers is awesome! You answer all of our questions while keeping us engaged!
Thank you.
These guys know there stuff I'm surprised they don't have more subscribers. You guys are definitely better than some of these "famous" RUclips detailers
Thank you.
Hi guys, When I was student on a technical school 45 years ago, my teacher taught me to wash in straight lines from front to rear because due to driving, the paint-molecules will structure itself that way. So that's why I always wash that way.
The molecules are set in the factory well before the car is driven.
My favorite!!! Yvan has been teaching this for years
Thank you.
Great video!! Love them all. The building is going to be amazing. Can’t wait to see the transformation!!! Love the patina.
Thanks so much!!
I would love to have enough business to have a shop as nice and spacious as yours, I can't wait to see the progress on the building.
You and me both!
I recently purchased & used your psd, very impressed with it, the decon stage used to get neglected a bit, not anymore! Its so easy now.
Thank you.
I just wish I had a shop. I do mobile detailing right now. Would love to have a shop with store front for detailing supplies. Keep that ambience of the old building that's cool just update the lighting. Thanks for all the great videos.
Thank you.
Keep up the great content gents !
Thank you!
Lots of room. Good luck in the renovation. I wish you guys were in Wilmington, DE! Great videos, even the quick minute video are great
Thanks so much!
You can be doing the same process video but I am always learning more details on best practice/process with your product.
Keep it up!
Thank you.
The Honda looks clean and glossy and the owner must have been thrilled. My sprayer like yours quit this weekend on the job and it will be missed. The perforated towel is amazing and gets so much work done. I prefer ceramic gloss for the clay n seal because to me it smells better than quick beads. I do recommend buying a gallon of each. Thank you for the video.
Thank you.
Great video, thanks! Would love you to do a winter interior detail video (similar to the tips on detailing the exterior of your vehicle i.e. coin wash rinse off, etc) for those who may not have indoor garage space to work.
Thanks for the idea!
I had a CRV the same body style as that. Paint corrected and had it coated as well
Great!
Btw, I really love the new garage! I think it looks awesome as it is 🤘🏼
Thanks!!
the bare / original vintage building somehow makes this video / process seem so much more 'consumable' to the average car care products consumer - like myself. I look forward to seeing where you get the most bang for the buck during the transformation; e.g. lighting. so many other normally obsessed wax-a-holics seem to just layer upon layer - vs this quick, effective maintenance wash & shine BTW I love the decon towel
Thank you.
Awesome video. My 22 year old SUV has been polished once. GM white paint from the 2002 model. Roof paint failed (peeled off all the way to the primed metal)and had to be re-painted.
That’s a shame.
Ready
Thank you.
Love your channel and recently bought a bunch of your products to polish then coat my black truck. My question is where in the process is the best place to repair paint chips?
Preferably after polishing.
Trim n tire dressing was very unique with a brush specially with crv/ rav4 SUVs
Thank you
I like the character of the building as well, I initially thought it was an old city jail.
Thank you.
I’m probably like Nick! I tend to clean on my car more and decontaminate it on a regular basis. I also do some sort of quick detailer more often than wait a couple of months! I sometimes wash my car twice a week on some occasions! I love you videos and I’m a fan of all of your products! I just recently purchased a new to me car and have purchased all my products from DIY! I felt I wanted to use one ☝️ brand for everything on my new car!
Thanks for sharing!! And for the support, it means the world to us!
@@diydetailofficial I’m one ☝️ of your biggest fans ☝️😂
Thank you.
Hello. I watch every video of yours. For me this is simply invaluable information. In the video on the Pan Organaizer channel you cleaned the body using Clay Towel and Iron Remover. This time you used CERAMIC GLOSS. Why did you decide not to use Iron Remover? Is it really not necessary to remove metal residues from the car body?
Different circumstances and needs. This is a good technique for maintaining your paint and protecting at the same time.
Like u new place.
And u make nice video.
Thanks a lot 😊
Great instruction and I really appreciate the thoughts on dealing with ceramic in the towel. How about the clay towel? What is the best way to clean it up at the end of the job?
Thank you. Soak the Perforated Synthetic Decontamination Towel in your wash bucket, rinse then dry.
Hi , it would be great if you do a video showing how to re-coat an existing coated vehicle (other brand) with DIY Detail products and doing the stack. 🙏🏻
Great suggestion!
Thanks for the great content always. If i would like to use iron removal for decon, what is the sequence? Apply iron removal with decon towel and then ceramic gloss? Thanks.
Correct
Love this method for regular maintenance.
I just installed a tire valve on my 2 gallon “weed sprayer”. I fill it halfway and it gets me through my truck without having to pump it by hand.
Excellent.
Wud up
Homies 🎉🎉
Morning!
All ceramic kits are sold out, I guess you are doing pretty good. when are having them back in stock?
In a few weeks
Hi Yvon and Nick, I use a pump sprayer and a Tink Keg tank from "Sun Distributing" I had my logo put on the side. Thanks for the great videos.
Great idea!!
I really like the clear buckets with the very distinct measure markers.
Could you provide a link to those exact buckets. The taller and shorter ones.
They are from a local restaurant supply
@@diydetailofficial Darn. They are really nice. You can see through them well. Very visible markings for the amount of water in the bucket. Will they let you order them and pay for shipping?
@26-CJ find your local restaurant supply
Hi gents, more great tips for the DIY detailer. So how do you clean the PSD towel after this process. I would assume the ceramic would be pretty embedded. Cheers.
Simply dunk it in your wash bucket for a few minutes, rinse and allow to dry
So if I used the red towel first, I do not have to also soak the drying towel in Rinseless?
Bonus question if that’s OK… What rag company towel is similar to your red towel? Not that I don’t want to buy your red towel, but I already own a lot of other Rag Company towels.
Thanks for all the great content, I am a much better detailing enthusiast because of your teaching!
It’s still best practice to soak both a few minutes.
The eagle Edgeless can be used in the same way.
@@diydetailofficial Thank You!
I just got your ceramic gloss and quick beads. Do I need to add a ceramic coating if I’m washing my car and I use those products to add protection onto the car?
It’s a great foundation.
When using Ceramic Gloss on a dry surface, I’ve noticed the removal micro fiber towel seems to feel a bit grabby, or not slick on the surface. But when I come back in a few minutes and feel with the back of my hand or a clean towel, it feels slick. I’ve seen this same issue on another RUclips channel where he was trying Ceramic Gloss. Can you explain why we are feeling this grabby or not so slick feeling when removing the product? Only using 2 sprays per panel. Otherwise I absolutely love it!
You’re using one spray too much. Yes it will be initially grabby as the ceramic resins are cross linking
@@diydetailofficial So I did a “Nick” and got a little carried away? 😂 But it smells so good you just want to spray it everywhere!!! lol.
@bwildman1818 the fragrance has that effect on people
Hi DIY team (preferably Yvan). When doing a clay and seal is it better to use the ceramic spray during claying or on the towel while drying? Wouldn’t using it while claying dilute it more and use more product than using while towel drying is it just as efficient with product?
I feel like similar applications or ceramic gloss use 1 spray per panel rather than the 2 while claying.
Besides increased lubrication is there any other reason to use twice as much product with this approach?
Yes you use a little more, but the additional lubrication is worth it.
What about using the decon towel on PPF??? Also, I have some water spots on the PPF, will the decon towel help to remove those with the water spot remover?? Please discuss water spots removal or is polishing gonna be required?
All our products are safe on PPF. DIY Detail Water Spot Remover should not be used with the Perforated Synthetic Decontamination Towel . Claying doesn’t remove water spots.
DIY Detail Water Spot Remover removes the minerals that cause the spots, to remove the etching ( if there is any) polishing is recommended.
Are the sponge and towels going into the same wash bucket, and what’s in the wash bucket?
Yes, DIY Detail Rinse Less Wash
This may sound like a strange question. After cleaning the inside of my tinted windows can I use ceramic gloss or quick beads on the tinted windows to help keep them a bit cleaner or is that a no no with tinted windows? I have XPEL Ceramic Windsheild Tint on all windows.
You do not want to use anything that promotes beading inside, it also promotes fogging
Apparently for the tire shine on exterior plastic you do not need to wipe it after application?
Correct if applied in moderation.
Hi Yvan and Nick i am a new subscriber from Saint-Constant,Quebec . i ordered your rinseless wash and ceramic gloss- legacy sponge-and clay towel is there any way you can tell me what is the best way to get the sponge and the clay towel prep for the first time thanks
Very simple, take them out of the package, put them in your bucket of Rinseless and start using them.
thank you for your very fastreply@@diydetailofficial
Bienvenue Normand, toujours un plaisir d’interagir avec nos amis.
I really love the old look for real if you could keep the patina as you say and lighting and functionality should always be key. Form and function guys. Simplicity. You’ve done so well so far. I’m still very impressed by the constant video output with your constraints.
thank you! We try to keep to a regular posting schedule, we will be back at the shop in a couple of weeks and it should look different:)
@@diydetailofficial it definitely makes the cars look even better with that background, I see what you did there.
Would this method (rinseless wash, decon and ceramic gloss) be a proper way to maintain a ceramic coating regardless if it's been applied 1 yr or 5 yrs ago?
Yes, absolutely
How long will ceramic gloss last when you do this method compared to adding polishing and paint prep before using ceramic gloss?
The same
With the clay towels you are also polish the clear coat a little, right?
There’s no abrasives in the DIY Detail Perforated Synthetic Decontamination Towel
Any issues using this method but with a wash using incredible suds instead of the rinse less wash?
Perfectly fine
New shop: Great potential. But get something in their to absorb sound. It's probably uncomfortable for your ears in there, and the sound on the video is a bit harsh.
We are working on it
I actually do not have ceramic gloss but I do have quick beads. I want to use this method but I thought quick beads was only activated with water, will it affect durability?
It works both ways.
Any time line on when you guys are coming out with a tire coating?
Not anytime soon
@@diydetailofficial thank you
So do you spray iron remover on the car? Or just on the tires?
On the paint
Can you do this on a non coated car and get good results
Yes
Is it safe to use a clay towel on your ceramic coated vehicle or will it "scrub off" the ceramic coating?
With our Perforated Synthetic Decontamination Towel it’s safe.
Can iron remover be used on all types of wheels?
Yes
Hello, Hope all is well. I have a question that involves the ceramic gloss. What is the difference between ceramic gloss and ceramic coating? Are they two different products? If so, how would you recommend the application of said products?
PS. Thanks for all your wisdom.
Very different products and needs. Watch a few additional videos and you will see the differences
@@diydetailofficial thanks for the reply. I’ve seen some videos however, I’m not sure if I’ve noticed you guys use both products at the same time (before or after the application of one or the other). I guess my question is more directed at the above-mentioned. Like for example, could I use the coating and after the curation process, use the ceramic gloss spray to enhance the coating? Or it wouldn’t work like that?
Thanks in advance
Yes, once cured for a week you can use DIY Detail Ceramic Gloss
If you have never decontaminated your vehicle, is there any benefit in using clay bar first and then the towel on subsequent decontamination washes?
No, starting with the Perforated Synthetic Decontamination Towel may do everything you need.
@@diydetailofficial Thank you! Learning a lot through your videos and looking forward to beginning my own detailing.
could u repeat this process on a car that is in very bad condition? like lots of break dust, lots of dirt, lots of bugs, etc.
Yes
Hi guys, you ship to any country or just US?
We have many distributors world wide, and are always adding more.
If you use QB instead, would you not need to rinse afterwards since its water activated?
No, not necessary in this situation.
To confirm you used the clay towel with the ceramic gloss?
Yes
@@diydetailofficial nice! Thanks for the video.
What happens and how to salvage a drying towel used with ceramic gloss that was just left to hang dry while waiting for laundry day? :(
Soak in a bucket of DIY Detail All Clean , or use a bit of ammonia in your washing machine.
@@diydetailofficial At the moment my only supply of All Clean is in the Spray Bottle, pre-diluted 15:1.. How much would you recommend me using if I were to soak the towel in maybe 2-3 gallons of water? Don't wanna waste any :D
You said car is local to Omaha, is that Omaha Nebraska? Are you building a shop in Omaha Nebraska just curious as I am located in kansas city missouri and go through Omaha Nebraska frequently to go back to South Dakota to visit family!
Yes we are in Omaha Nebraska.
@@diydetailofficial will you be selling your line of products out of that shop and when will it be opening, would love to stop by and check it out?
Is it worth it to do a stack with 5 year and then the 3 year guys?
Yes
@@diydetailofficial your quick replies are awesome👏
@benoithebert9399 thank you
Same process with incredible suds? Minus rinseless of course
Yes
Off topic, but nicks fresh cut looks waaaaaaay better then that “Joe dirt” /billy ray cyrus hair lol
lol thank you it was fun while it lasted
What happened too your mustache Nick?! 😂
Shaved it 😎
@@diydetailofficial i thought you buffed it out hahah
lol
I’m confused as to how clean the car has to be before you start this process. I’m assuming you need to hand wash the car first?
Yes it needs to be cleaned.
Your products and gadgets are awesome, but it's very, very difficult to get them in Europe. European suppliers have very small stocks and don't offer some products at all.
We are working with them to improve that. Also adding more distributors. If there is something you want, ask for it, they can order it.
English suppliers do not deliver across Europe (Brexit), or the delivery cost is too high. Other European suppliers either don't have all the products or I'm waiting for them to restock.@@diydetailofficial

Those electric sprayers are great. I use a black one from CSW for rinseless and a teal one for waterless from Amazon. The battery charge lasts a very long time. Videos with guys pumping manual sprayers is never a good look…IMO
Thank you.
Could you provide the link to the CSW sprayer? I have looked for it on their site, but no luck. I do have the teal one from Amazon and like it. I plan to purchase another one, but would prefer black. Thank you!
They do not sell it anymore.

No Mather how experienced anybody is , wearing a watch while working is a big NO NO.
do what you feel is best for you and the vehicle you're working on, safety first
@@diydetailofficial bad example to show when you are teaching peoples. I learned from the best of Meguiars and that’s not right , sorry.
Wear a Micro Fibre wrist band, you will see that you never get close to the paint with it. Unfortunately the detailing industry is filled with people that overthink things and invent rules to make themselves feel better. If you feel better not wearing a watch, that’s great.,
I believe you are going to be the cause of many divorces... wash, decon, and protect a vehicle in less than 30 minutes... some of us need our alone time.😊
You can always get the neighborhood cars.
