Step 1: Chop the trees down first before bringing the council into the project.

The first thing I was told by the surveyors and planners at work. We have a load of work to do in our garden if we didn't take the trees down we would have ended up with preservation orders on them when we went for planning. This would have made our plans impossible to do, our garden unusable (no light) and then the house unsellable as the tree's (8 firs and a massive weeping willow) maintenance would have been huge because it would affect other gardens and storms were causing them to lose massive branches, one of which from the willow crushed an apple tree into the ground last year during a storm.

Hey Josh! thanks for the videos, I had a quick question. I notice that right after the bottom part was built, the builders added wood framing, how is it attached to the floor? @5:45

Kinda frustrating when just a single tree is protected and you can't chop it

For sure - it was frustrating at the time - but I wouldn't change the plan we came up with in the end
