You can tell you're an experienced builder josh, great info and i love that you take on jobs that are difficult and show us in depth. And that you look after the neighbors too.
I'm hoping this will become a full detailed series build with plenty of episodes, Your content is just getting better and better. It's great having local nz building channels to watch. Cheers
Pretty much the standard building site for down here in South Canterbury. Most places are built on a hill side as the flat land tends to be at or below sea level.
Even though drive way is usually put in last.. i would be planning on it going in early and finishing it with a coating at the end of the job. Good luck.
Crazy where they let poeple build. When I go to Wellington and see those houses perched on hill sides it puts a shiver up my spine. When a bid-ish shake comes they will end up down the bottom, and then the hands will go out asking for relief.
watch out for the landslide in the future especially in shitty weather. two houses on on site. very expensive and requires lots of skills to build on land and location like this.
Genuinely curious because I've had to waterproof a block wall like that before and it wasn't done safely. How can you possibly waterproof that block wall safely when it is cut like that? At 3 meters high and say one meter of clearance if there was a cave-in any workers back there would be screwed.
Challenging build. What is the slope (gradient) of this driveway? And what's the maximum slope you have built on the driveways and your experience? Cheers

The old work van would be bloody crawling and screaming uphill on that site haha
Looking forward to the end result 👌
I can only imagine how much a build like this must cost!!!!!
You're doing better than me. I can't even imagine how much.
Imma guess $4M

I used to live around this area. The video doesn't really show just how extreme the site is. It's a good area to live in ... 😊
How you doing? When is the next video from this site

approx 14 degrees - it will be the steepest driveway I've done
@@nzbuilder Wow. 14deg means approx 25% gradient? Excited to see the progress
Could I ask how much did cost for the ground work?
the site looks exactly the same as mine, except mine might be a bit wider than this.
Still ongoing - follow along for updates
