David Leffew the one with the “doll hospital” was cute because for a kid who knows anything about American girls dolls or toy story 2 you believe that doll hospitals or little old men with a big wooden box filled with toy repair stuff helped fix their toy. Adorable

Not my kid but my little brother. Parents outta town because of their jobs, me a responsible 18 yrs old looking after her 14 yrs old brother. Get a call from school, my bro got into a fight. I go there, being the one in charge. My brother's in the detention room and I go talk to the principal. He told me my brother (a sweet kid really) punched another kid. I ask why : principal says the other kid was bullying a girl for weeks and my brother punched him. I was like "Yeah so? Proves his education's a success" I then proceed to berate the principal about only punishing my brother and not the bully. Convinced him, punishment revoked. Never told my brother, instead told him so seek help from an adult next time so he doesn't make a habit of it.

My friend has to do a lot of out of town things related to basketball, his siblings are to young to go with them and they have a particular baby sitter they hire, this is a reason why. Well, that weekend, my friend’s 11 year old brother went to a party in the park. Well, while he was talking to a girl he liked... He farted. The babysitter thinks fast and runs to the bath room and splashes some water on the crotch of his sweatpants then walks out making sure all the kids can see, they all laugh about it and forget about him farting. On the way home t kid says thanks, but the babysitter just says, “Law of The Bro”. My friends 11 year-old, nerdy, cod-playing, dinosaur chicken nugget-eating brother is now a strict philosophical idealist thanks to this one incident

Not a parent im actually the daughter. Dad will sometimes go hang out with his best friend from work. They play on their guitars, drink, and sing. Fantasize about being in a band ((have tried to recruit me)) but since he is a truck driver, we dont want him to get pulled over and loose his CDL. He can drive perfectly while plastered and even tell you where to go no matter where you are. But when he goes out and be plans on drinking, he knows he can call me no matter what time and i will pick him up, take him home, get him something to drink and eat, and put him to bed.
Another time parents and i were out at a club and they got STUPID drunk. Drove them home with my brother in the back seat. He was FREAKING OUT for some reason and wouldnt stop calling their names. Mind you it was about 3am at this point and i had them set outside so i could get rags and water and snacks. In their drunkenness, they started flirting with each other, mum hoarding the pretzels i gave her and dad just flirting with mum. They confessed their love for each other it was amazing. Then we told them it was their 20th wedding anniversary. The look of shock on their face was heart melting. Mum started crying in happiness and was just flirting more. They tried to do stuff but they couldnt. Finally got them up to their beds helping them both use a rag to wash their faces and strip down, took care of the dogs and left. Still my favorite memory and dad still calls me.

  • @transientdaydreams
    @transientdaydreams 4 года назад +49

I guess this is more of a *literal* bro move, since this is my little brother, not my kid--but for all intents and purposes, I was a third parent. Our dad was out of town constantly for work, and our mom was (is) a mess. A lot of the time, she was abusive when we were growing up (physically, emotionally, verbally, spiritually... fun times). I'll admit to being stubborn and socially inept, which didn't help, even if I've finally realized it wasn't my fault. My brother was her favorite, and honestly by the time he was old enough that he started "acting up," I was kinda used to Mom's shit anyway, so if he did something that pissed her off--bad grades, being snarky, whatever--I'd try to run interference and get her pissed off at me instead.
I was five years older and a lot more durable, after all, and I did martial arts so I could take hits. Plus, I had the idea that big brothers were supposed to protect the littler ones with their lives. And even if the family looked at me and saw a "big sister" instead, damn it if I wasn't going to do my job. (I'll also admit I had a bit of a martyr complex as a kid.)
We're both adults now--actually, he's old enough to drink now which is super weird to me--and Mom's still an asshole but she's at least treating her mental health stuff and trying to improve as a parent, and even if I can't forget, I appreciate that she's trying. My brother knows that I tried to shield him from some stuff growing up, but I don't ever want to tell him just how bad it got. (If I hadn't done martial arts, I swear there were a couple times I would have been seriously injured. Or worse, but I try not to think about that.) He's going into the psych field, so he probably suspects, but I don't want to tell him just how much it traumatized me. I'm not going to go into it, but... let's say it's a lot.
At the end of the day, if I had to do it again... damn it, I would, because he's my kiddo and one of my best friends, and just the shit he *did* experience hurt him enough. But despite everything, he's a good dude. I can see him breaking free of the brainwashing earlier than I did, and I'm proud as hell. He's bright and funny and creative, and even if I never, *ever* want to raise a kid again, I don't think I did too badly with this one. (I hope that, one day, he'll be proud to call me his big brother. Even if he looks five years older than *me* now...)

    • @transientdaydreams
      @transientdaydreams 4 года назад +3

@@ethanseldiakov7551 Thanks! I don't mind. Our dad was fine for the most part. He was a bit, let's say, emotionally unavailable, in the way that a lot of dads I know are, but I knew he loved us. And I was his favorite, which balanced out my brother being our mom's favorite. (Favoritism is still bad, but...) There were a few times he did things that I guess you'd call abusive, but it was so rare that he got that angry, so I guess it just didn't really phase me? He can be a bit intellectually condescending though.
As for what we're like right now... it's complicated. Before the whole plague thing hit, I visited them around every week or two. Partially to hang out w my brother, but also to see them. I realize it's a Stockholm Syndrome sort of thing, but I do love them deeply. And they've both improved since I was a kid. Dad's more open emotionally, and Mom acknowledges that a lot of her behavior was toxic and is... trying. She's emotionally manipulative as hell, but also doesn't mean to be.
So yeah, it's complicated. Especially since I've become more open, in the past couple years, about disagreeing with a lot of their values. They're very bigoted, and I realize that--the day I come out to them--I'll be taking a wrecking ball to the relationship we've managed to start repairing over the last few years. I think about it... a lot. If it was a friend of mine, I'd suggest they cut their parents off for being toxic, but... y'know. Stockholm Syndrome.
I did tell my brother a few days after I made my original post though. The way I delivered it was kinda dramatic and he called me out on that and argued a bit (he really doesn't like my martyr complex, haha). Honestly I deserved everything he said. I don't think he's mad about the revelation itself, just the delivery and timing. So after his finals end soon, I'll try to talk about it again. I think he and I will be fine in the end. We've dealt with worse, after all. :)

The ones about being nice to the kids with autism really do something good for my heart. You see, I have extremely high functioning autism, which basically means I can blend in with the crowd easily and unless they really know some of the key quirks of autism I won't be given a second glance. This was not the case when I was younger though, obviously, and I was bullied to the point of attempting suicide as a result. My parents and my doctor pulled the biggest bro move ever though. My doctor *PRESCRIBED* moving to a new neighborhood and going to need schools and my parents followed through. I was placed in THE BEST school for my condition where I was treated like a human for the first time in years. My condition got much better, as well as my depression and PTSD that came from what I went through. Some of my teachers were bros too, always keeping an extra eye on me and checking in with me to make sure I was having a good day. They also turned a blind eye to my "acts of justice" on more than one occasion, those are when I give a bully a taste of their own medicine and I only get a slap on the wrist at most for it. We make it look like I got something more, but in my "lunch detentions" I was just sitting in the dean's office and having a laugh with him (he was also a bro for me, getting me much lower punishments because he knew who I was). Most people don't look too fondly on their time in school growing up. Well I can say for certain that my doctor's, parents, teachers, and administration staff made grades 3-12 much more positive for me and I look back on it with a smile.

A few rhings my Dad did to save me on the spot throughout my Life:
1.) I ( incidentally ) got too drunk from drinking with my coworkers after work. I got a ride home. That was good and all but my mom is strict about alcohol and I thought I was gonna get it. I woke up, and was lectured by my Dad about being more wary of my limitations and that was it. Turned out he told my mom I got sick from a "bad" shot. Off the hook.
2.) When I was in middle school, I got in a fight during a football game. The kid charged me and kept trying to hit me while we were both on the ground and the whistle was already blown. So, I defended myself out of instinct by flipping him over and slammed him on his back instead. Of course he still had me so it wasn't perfect. Thought my Dad was gonna whip me for sure. Granted he was there, but he was strict about fighting. Turns out he was actually letting me finish it. He only intervened when parents crossed the out of bounds line onto the field, so that he was the one pull off his own son. Some parents sneered a demand for me to be punished by my Dad, at my Dad. My Dad being a well digniified man, said "sure." , partly condescending back at them. On the ride home, he told me "Son, don't do that again, that's all. Good play though. " We both laughed. I was relieved and I understood his tone. (Slap on the wrist, basically, he knew it wasn't really my fault.)
3.) In college, because I still lived with my parents to save money, my mom found condoms in my pockets. She was visibly upset and started to scold me in the heat of being upset by the presumption that her son is not so innocent anymore. My Dad, quickly calmed her down and reassured her he was gonna give me the talk. So he sat me down, and we talked about everything about it. It was uncomfortable at first but it was easy to discuss it with my Dad as he from the beginning reassured me that I can tell him anything and he would understand. Both of my parents were strict but my Dad knew how to keep me confident in him for any confessions. Anyways, the "Talk" was more about the reminder of being a gentleman, and that they don't need to nor want to know what I do, just as long as I am being safe AND polite to all my "dates". Once again, off the hook. (I still had to buy my own condoms and eventually introduce her to them if we were together long enough.) God that was awkward bringing home girl that wasn't necessarily my girlfriend yet, but we been dating on and off for a year so a deal's a deal.

Had a best friend from age 5 to 16 and his parents were well off compared to my family. We weren’t poor, but didn’t have extra money for cool things like family trips and lots of toys. My friend’s parents took me on so many trips with them growing up, sporting events, etc and paid for everything. Another cool thing was around Christmas time, my friend would ask me what video games to ask for as “I knew all the cool ones.” Looking back he never cared for video games like I did, I think he just would ask for them for me to play since he knew I couldn’t have them at my house. Not only did they help me experience things in life that my parents wasn’t able to provide, but they were another parent figure in my life giving me advice growing up and getting on to me when I was getting in trouble. Unfortunately as we got in our teens him and I grew apart, but I will be forever thankful for his parents and our friendship.

Both my parents had such wonderful bro moments! When my sister was in middle school (mostly rich kids, while we were from middle class family), she was bullied. My mom just called ALL the parents and settled things for her. It just impressed me. And my dad was traumatized by his own parents who favourites their kids. So when he gives money to my sister, he gives me the same amount too. Generally they're amazing and I never really did the teenager crisis cause I realised really soon I was incredibly lucky 😊

Anoyingant XD you’d be surprised. My hischool is really small and we have a coed basketball team (I was on the team one of 4 girls) and there’s a teachers vs. basketball team end of year game. We won the year I played but before that the teachers were practically undefeated prior to that. In elementary school we also had a Halloween night and there always was a huge parents/teachers vs. kids musical chairs. It became a huge thing and the kids would get together and figure out a strategy to beat the parents. Never happened while I was there though.

This very small gesture proves that small things can have a lasting impact on someone’s life.
My parents were going out for the night and I was to spend the night at my grandparents’ house. My mom gave me $5 when she dropped me off so I could get some McDonald’s for dinner. McDonald’s wasn’t very far from my grandma’s so I rode my bike. On my way back home I crashed on my bike and my food went flying all over this parking lot. I sat there crying mostly about my food and some stranger jogging seen me, came over, helped me up and dusted me off and gave me $5 to go buy some more food. I know it was a small gesture, but at that time it was a big deal. I will never forget that and I try my best now that if I see a similar situation to pay it forward.
This was 25 years ago and I still think about it.
    Thanks kind stranger

Tl;Dr: My dog chewed on my stuffed rabbit's plastic hands and feet. My mom fixed my toy twice using wood and fabric to give her mittens and socks over the ruined plastic.
My first ever baby toy was a small pink and white rabbit, which I named "Rabbit" because I'm so creative. This toy is basically a stuffed animal but flat, and the hands and feet are made of plastic instead of fabric. I loved this toy so much, and I still have it to this day. Anyway, when I was 8 years old we got a puppy. Super cute dog, really energetic, I loved playing with her. But one day, I accidentally left Rabbit downstairs and our puppy mistook her for a dog toy. Rabbit's body was fine, but by the time we stopped our dog from chewing on her, her plastic hands were ruined. Cue me having a meltdown, triggering a meltdown from my sister, it was not a fun evening. My mom took Rabbit, promised to fix her, asked her mom (my grandma) what to do, and together they devised a plan. About a month later, I got Rabbit back as a birthday present. They had carefully cut out 4 wooden pieces in the shape of her hands, glued one to each side of her hands, covered them in fabric, and sealed the fabric with a ribbon. So now my Rabbit had mittens! The best part? They had made extras! About a year and a half later, our dog had gotten to Rabbit again, removing the mittens and causing damage to both her hands and her feet. But this time, mom was able to fix her up again quickly (her hands and feet had the same shape) so she had new mittens with matching socks. After that second time, I decided that Rabbit had to stay in my room at all times, and the dog was not allowed in my room at any time. There have been no further incidents with Rabbit or our dog, and both are currently happy and healthy.

I have always wanted a younger sibling, someone to protect and care for, and he has always wanted a sibling which will talk to him about fortnite etc. I got him, a rebel who sometimes needs help getting out of fights, and he got a gamer who he can share anything with, and he helps me all the time, but also knows that he can rely on me.

This one was actually fairly recent but made a huge impact on me. I was in grad school and NOT having a good time. I loved the subject, but academia was so different from what I thought it was really like. Anyway, all I had left to do was the thesis and I just couldn't do it and was forced to drop the program. I felt so ashamed and embarrassed and like a total waste of space and that I wasted everyone's time and effort (also, leaving the program happened in the middle of the pandemic too). I had to tell my mom because there was no way to hide it and I was really dreading the next grandparent update because I knew they would ask about my degree progress.
My mom told them I passed and everything. When i say that it may seem like she was saving her own pride, but it was entirely so my parents and the rest of the family would keep asking me about my degree and "oh darn, no graduation because of Covid, bummer." My mom was willing to lie to her whole family because she knew I was beating myself up enough. Not that my family would admonish me, but their pity and condolences would make it even worse for me. I'm in a better place now with a full-time job and in grad school again, but this time for a degree with a more practical application and not academia.

Not my parents- but my friends. My family is piss-poor and my BFF is pretty well off. Dad owns his own gunsmith place, and is very successful. Anytime we go anywhere, I have a little money, and offer to pay, but they immediately brush me off, call me family and pay. This is especially nice because I come from an abusive mother, who made me feel guilty anytime she bought me anything. These people have never ONCE brought up anything they've paid for, and flat out refuse to even think of taking my money. They're awesome and I love them.

This one restored my faith in humanity. My bro move with my daughter was this: She told me she had made a secret pact that her friend would sneak bubblegum into school and share it with her. This is in the middle of a covid lockdown and the kids aren’t allowed to share food/germs. So I bought my daughter the same watermelon gum that the other kid had promised to share with her and helped my kiddo smuggle it into school. That way she could have the same gum as her friend but not break the pandemic public safety rules prohibiting sharing. My partner said I shouldn’t do that, but whatever, the pandemic has been hard on these kids, let them have gum.

My parents, but mostly my dad, during Junior/Senior year of high school. They didn't buy me and my friends alcohol, but they knew it was pointless to try and stop us, so they took the car keys from everyone so nobody could drive drunk. Obviously it would have been easy enough to just bring a second set of keys, but I think everybody appreciated the "safe space" and didn't try anything.
I have also called my dad a couple times to pick me up from the bar. Its one of those things that is acknowledged but never openly talked about. They always said that they would rather get up at 3 to pick me up from the bar, than have to get up at 3 to identify my body at the morgue.

Now, I'm still living at home, and my mom was going to chaperone me on the trip, but on the very morning of the trip, she was sick as a dog, and couldn't go. I was desperate, so I called my dad. and he actually left work to go on the trip with me.

I ended up calling my stepdad and I told him and he said that I could come stay with them and he'd meet me at the bus stop since I was scared I would miss it. I got there fine and I had told him not to tell my mom, but when I got inside my mom was making my favorite food, they gave me candy and stuff and I got to choose a movie to watch. They weren't mad, just worried and they told me that it's okay to be curious and experiment but to always be safe and that I could tell them everything without them getting mad. My stepdad has kept his promise to this day and I'm so grateful for them. Honestly if they were mad I think I would've started to rebel against them.

a kid I knew from a youth club had a little sister with a bully problem. she was a timid thing so she got picked on for scaring easy. My default style back then was black red and chains all over so her brother wanted me to pick her up from school for a couple days. the first day she saw me and ran up to me beaming smiling. Imagine seeming the tiniest scaredy-cat at school run into the arms of death and nightmares personified and give it a hug. They left her alone when they realized I’d pick her up whenever I get word they’re bullying her. I’ve even showed up with her mom a few times to drive it harder home that “I am this little girl’s shinigami and I will protect her from scary things and her parents approve of my message” As someone who was bullied too as a kid Anything that I could do to help was more than most had done for me.

I have a similar story. before I moved, my best friend lived across the street and I would often play with her and her two younger siblings. On this particular day, we were painting our nails and I spilled a little red nail polish on the light brown carpet. I was very scared and pulled the piece of cardboard we were painting our nails on over it to cover the spot. My friend noticed it and we tried cleaning it with nail polish remover, and we got most of it out, but the carpet began untwisting there and it was still somewhat pink. My friend's little brother went and told his mom, and she was very angry. my friend took the blame for it and was grounded for a week.

Even though I was rebellious and basically did the exact opposite of what they approved of there are 2 memories (1 memory from each of them) that I'll never forget.
I hated involving my personal life with my family, my parents never met any of my girlfriends and I never let them meet my friends... I wasn't embarrassed I just wanted my life to be my life... anyway I totally fell for this girl, like i loved her, everything about her was amazing. I introduced her to my mom and dad because of how much time she spent in my life. My parents were respectful and didnt tease because this was the first girl they've met, anyway my dad was working graveyard shifts at this time in his life so he slept during the day while my mom was at work. My girlfriend came over and we watched a movie...... really we made out and for the first time made more sexual moves.... anyway I hear the stairs creek and knowing my dad was coming down we did the obvious seperate and act like nothing was happening.
He nodded and smiled grabbed his water and walked back upstairs... I heard him I the shower which was totally weird because he was up 3 hours earlier than his typical wake up time.... time passes and I hear him up and about which again shouldn't be happening. . I hear him coming down the stairs fully dressed with shoes and keys in hand... we got up thinking that ment it was time to split and go home but my dad looked at us weird and said where yall going ? You coming to get a haircut me lol ??? My girlfriend sat back on the couch and when she wasnt looking he simply winked at me and told me mom wasnt going to be home for the next three hours..... like straight out of the drug dealing movies he did the high five lean in and hug.... in my hand he left me a condom and just said to be safe........
Second memory came from my Mom, for some reason I decided to try some dumbass drug like Xanex or some pain killer that my friends offered. I wasnt anywhere near Overdose levels but because it was my first time it hit me way harder than it did to them.... I tried it in school of all places... like a dumbass ..... I couldnt make it the afternoon and simply left school and made my way home.. when I unlocked the door my mom was in the kitchen prepping food.. she instantly knew somthing was wrong like I didnt even say a word before she stopped prepping looked at me and said " Issiah are you ok ? Do I need to keep an eye on you ?"
I just remember feeling super disappointed in myself for being in the situation, I just looked at the ground and shook my head without looking up at her. She walked over and gave me a hug and kissed me on the head and quickly gave a prayer before sending me upstairs to bed. I instantly crashed but every 30 min or so I heard her open my door and come check on me. She told my dad I was drained from practice afterschool and went straight to bed... but every 30nmin she came and checked on me. When I woke up after sleeping it off she didnt ask questions or say anything to me because she knew I knew I made a bad decision.. to this day shes never brought it up.
Ohh yah there was also a time in my senior year of HS where everyone went to this party, my DD wasnt a DD and I knew I shouldn't have gotten in the car.. somehow I rationalized him having to drinks was ok and etc but deep down I knew somthing bad was going to happen.... at the next red light outside the neighborhood I just said pull over and let me out . They all began saying how he was fine driving and not to worry... but I knew the feeling and I knew somthing was going to happen so I said to just stop driving and we can kick it somewhere tonight , but there party teens already Litty so they had there own plans.... it's like 1 in the morning and I really tried not to call my parents but I was in the middle of fucking nowhere and way way to lit to ride my motorcycle home.. my dad picked up the phone and groggily said what's up... all I said was " Hey do you think you can come get me please"
There was a hesitation but he cleared his throat and said he was on his way, when my parents pulled up i was sitting on the sidewalk near a park. I opened the back door and my dad asked "wheres your bike ?" I said I left it..... he asked where my friends were, I just staired at the ground and shook my head...... he understood. Actually both of then did .... they didnt ask anymore questions on the way home.. when we finally parked and the garage door was closing my dad just one arm hugged me and walked inside... my mom kissed me on the forehead and thanked me for calling.....
My friends crashed a couple of miles down the road from where I got out, they took a corner way to fast crashed into this ladies mailbox, completly bent a stop sign sideways and popped all 4 of his tires..... they tried to drive away from thee scene but they were running on pure rims... almost made it to his house before the police showed up.

11:40 My dad used to pick me up from clubs from when I was 14 to when I was 18. In my country it's normal for teenagers to go out clubbing, you can't get into every club, but you can into the majority of them. And dad would always come pick my friend and I up and drive us home in the middle of the night. After that I started taking taxi or walking home with friends. I'm 25 now, I don't drink, but I don't drive either. So even when my friends maybe take their car I can't drive them home because I don't know how to drive.

My oldest brother did a huge bro move for me. Our family struggled financially often, and we only had necessities, cool and fun stuff was strictly Christmas from other relatives. I am the youngest of 5 children, with the oldest being 12 years older than me
I was constantly taking both of my older brothers gameboys, a green/teal one, and a special edition silver one with Pikachu and pichu. I was doing this starting around age 4, to play pokemon and try other games, and they would always get annoyed, especially if I accidentally saved over their files (I couldn't read and didn't know, just saw them do it before they stopped playing), totally don't blame them.
Well, after years of being a goblin with their Gameboys, my oldest brother who had already graduated and had a job had apparently paid attention to me staring down all the brand new game boy advances in Walmart, mostly just internally wishing for one because we weren't usually ever in a position to get something that wasn't directly necessary like clothing and shoes etc.
I can't remember which birthday it was, I was still in 2nd grade, so I want to say it was my 8th birthday. He was off that day, but when I got home from school, he wasn't there, just my other siblings. I eventually get to the couch and turn on the TV to listen to cartoons while I played pokemon yellow on my brother's Gameboy color. My oldest brother comes home and all I hear is "wow, really?" (Not in a negative tone) from my siblings and he shushes them, I think nothing of it. He comes to stand by me, and he hands me a taped up wad of Walmart bags. I looked at him like 🧐🧐 because as older brothers do, he played tons of pranks and tricks on me. I get through the some 15 odd bags to find that clear purple version of the Gameboy advance, and a finding Nemo game (the first movie I had seen in a theater, a literal treat)
I won't ever forget it, and I still think that to this day, that because they didn't get mad at me over messing their games up, and that my brother got me my first, very own game, is why I love playing them, and love spending time with them. I love my sisters a lot as well, I just seem to get along better with my brothers

My dad told me when I was a teenager that if I ever went out to a party or something and got drunk, I could call him for a pickup if I was too drunk to drive. He would pick me up and drive me home and ask no questions, no matter what time I called. I never actually had to take advantage of that offer, but it was nice knowing he would have my back.
I think that's an offer that all parents should make. I certainly intend to say the same thing if I ever have kids. I'd rather wake up at 2 AM to a phone call from my kid asking for a ride because they're too drunk to drive, than wake up at 2:30 AM to a call from the police or the hospital telling me my kid drove drunk and got arrested or hurt in an accident.

My mom has always been my bro. In 8th grade i got caught smoking. Did she tell me to stop? No. She said go ahead, but do it on the porch, not from the window, and from now on im buying, i dont want you near random old dudes. Same with alcohol. If i need her she will come. She sometimes (usually just my birthday) lets me throw parties in the attic but i have to clean, which is fair. If i have a boyfriend she lets us be in the attic. The biggest bro move was when i had to be in the hospital for a week. She would drive to the convenience store parking lot where all my friends and my then boyfriend hungout, yell, whos coming to the hospital? Grabbed as many of them that wanted to come (big car) , drove to the train station and would pay their tickets, just to have me be happy. And then drove them back. (i was in that room 24/7 and couldnt go outside)

I laughed, and said, "We just played D&D for 6 hours, we play Heroclix with little plastic superheroes -- I most definitely treat you like a kid. What I don't do is treat you like you're stupid." He says, "yeah, that's probably it." I hope he remembers that if he has kids.

The best bro move that happened to me was, my bestfriend had moved away s good few years ago in 5th grade and I was visiting her last summer. We are like 6hours away. Anyway her parents and the neighbors were drunk after a night of having fun. Me and my friend were totally enjoying ourselves just hanging out with her parents and the other adults playing darts and whatnot. Anyway so around midnight we go back to her parents house and my friends dad sits me down and tells me that no matter where I am in the world if I'm in trouble call her because her dad has friends all over the world and he'll tell them to go help me.

This thread made me instantly think of sketchy parents trying to creepily wingman their kids which I'm 100% glad it wasn't. Just a bunch of cool parents. 😎

My grandfather used to be a cigarette addict- two packs a day, the goods. Mom became pregnant with me and he quit within two months. He also managed to reduce his drinking to maybe one can a week. Now he watches National Geographic with me and comments on the birds, boars, and plants I can't remember to save my ass. Best granddad ever.

The Greek nanny one, I used to speak Greek to another kid who was partially Greek (his grandparents were Greek, but he was more towards he Italian side) it was cool, lot of kids looked at us confused. So onto the question, a friend I saw every summer at the place I vacationed. He fancied a girl who was staying at the same dock as us (it was a boat marina that was very beautiful) but, the girl liked me a ton. I thought she was cute but I was fricking 9 and love wasn’t in my dictionary yet, so being the oblivious wingman I am, I turned her down. And here’s how the exchange went: “*blank*, I like you and I think you are cute...”
“Thanks but OH MY GOD HAVE YOU SEEN HOW MANY CRABS ARE ON THIS PYLON!!!”
    “No, but I-“
“Come here and see how many there are!”
She just frowned and left. My buddy asked her out (he was older than me) and she said yes. They went out to eat once after that, and I was around. I remember her trying to get me jealous too. Well after that, we never saw her again...
Shawn, if you are reading this, I’m sorry...
Also I’m socially awkward, not a wingman

It may not be much, but last Christmas I was not having the best time ever. My sisters were hanging out and drinking with my cousins so I ended up drinking alone, the sebiche gave me a stomachache, my closest cousin ended up crashing his car, and the booz I drank knocked me out and I did not get to be in the yearly christmas family picture. Not to mention I was the only person to not get a gift, or so I thought. I usually never show my emotions do to how I was bullied when I was living in Mexico, but somehow my mom can read me like a open book. When I woke up the next day, I found a gift bag with a new shirt, a pack of my favorite chocolate chip cookies and a bag of my favorite chedar popcorn. I knew it was her who left the gift because she knows what snacks I enjoy eating. It may seem like a strange and even mediocre gift, but when I thought I was having the worst day ever, my mother just made it shine bright with that small gesture.

When the GameCube first came out, it was impossible to find one anywhere within my local area for the first few months. Me and my mom had been frequently calling stores looking for them. She called a Toys R Us and found that they had a couple but it was a school day. So my mom pulls me out of school saying that I had a dentist appointment and we went to the store and I got my GameCube. My mom is the coolest and best mom in the world
