In this 3 hour Masterclass you will sit in the studio next to Sub Zero Project while they explain to you exactly how they approach music production.
If you are looking for inspiration on how to build your kicks from scratch and how to come up with killer melodies and chords then this class is for you. Thomas & Nigel will show you in full details how they build different styles of kicks from scratch and start a track from scratch, showing you how they build melodies, chords, basslines and build further on the theme of the track. Aside from this they will walk you through their tracks "RAVE INTO SPACE", "HALO" and "TIME MACHINE" covering important topics like sound design, making screeches, breaks, pre-drops, vocals, layering and of course the kicks they used.
Seeing professional producers make this type of things so "rustic" and pretty much just straight forward make me thing that I overcomplicate myself by trying to do more "complex" things.
If it works it works and that's it xd
Sometimes it's just like that! Keeping it simple and getting it right is the hard part. You'll get there just keep going! 🚀
It's like letting the sounds do its job yk
If you’re doing it complicated then you haven’t done it complicated enough times to know how to do it simple.
Cleaner way is to use that same Pro-Q3 on your bass bus with a dynamic dip in the sub region where your kick hits while sidechaining its signal to the bass.
There are a lot of ways to sidechain, do what you prefer :)
Dosnt matter how its done, if its good then its good!
make sure the EQ is set to linear phase if you are going to automate the mix level of the EQ!! Very important otherwise there will be audible phasing!
When you do you can also hear a clear difference!
Automating the mix knob of Pro Q3 and not the frequencies themselves causes phasing issues, kinda amateurish advise/technique tbh. I thought he was gonna say MB compression or sidechain the bass of the kick to the bassline using Pro Q3, but instead it was kinda noobish advise.
They managed to get to almost every
mainstage with a "amateurish technique".
You could set Pro Q3 to Linear or Natural phase. You get some extra latency within your project, but this is a fast way to work.
This clip is pretty old so maybe they’ve extended their production quality a bit
why not sidechain compression or kickstart?
because they don't want to completely mute the bass when the kick's playing. They just want to delete the sub frequencies and not the mid/high
@@dzkazoe5943that can be done by Kickstart2 with multiband compressor feature
@@dzkazoe5943 Pro MB is also good option instead of Kickstart if you want to sidechain it. Plus, Kickstart 2 has an option to select the range of freq, so he is actually right.
Weiiiird... why just no use kickstart sidechain?? Or Grossbeat? You overcomplicate it
Everyone has their own preferences!
He literally explains it in the video, he wants to EQ the bass, he explicitly says he doesn't want to mute it, with the irregular beat of the kick your kickstart is already out of the question 🤷 what's wrong with having an automation where you can see and draw exactly what you like
