    Fun fact! The Grammeowster (Grandma Cat) is canonically the cat that taught the Meowscular Chef (buff cat) how to cook. He cares about her very deeply and misses being able to cook for her a lot 🥺

      She's a partial inspiration for one of the divine in our D&D group's homebrew setting - Melkia, the Gentle Grandmother. Goddess of motherhood, unconditional love, pacifism, and perhaps most importantly, hospitality. Even the most humble shrine will at least have a bread oven.

      The Meowscular Chef was the Admiral palico. The big blonde guy who grabbed a damn boulder and saved the Handler's hide from the Rajang hadoken.
      I wonder how well it did perform during hunts. He stopped being a hunter palico the moment in which his blade broke. As you can see when he cuts the meat with it, it's squarish. That's because it broke.

    If you were wondering why the last couple were 'dangos' and not the big heavy meals there's a fun reason for that. The dangos from Monster Hunter Rise takes place in a Japanese inspired region, and the hunters are basically well monster hunting ninja. As such they use a form of hyōrōgan , or 'provision pill' that supposedly has all the nutrients and benefits of a large meal for only a fraction of the bulk and filling. A common ingredient in both dangos and hyōrōgan is rice flour
    so it's more thematic in compared to the previous ones but i like all the cooking scene. especially with granny cooking

    • @ShinigamiSamaH
      @ShinigamiSamaH 2 года назад +35

      Though it make sense, I still feel it is a cop out to simplified the food cutscenes instead of these elaborate set pieces. Like come on, at least try to introduce some old traditional Japanese dishes in there to spice things up instead of repeating the same dango animation with a pallet swap over and over.

    • @TheShadowDeer
      @TheShadowDeer 2 года назад +11

      @@ShinigamiSamaH while i do agree it would be nice to have several other types of dishes, here's some food for thought. In the previous games especially Iceborne the hunters were in a cold region. A grand feast like that would help warm up the body in those cold climates, and the possible residual scent of the feast would just be a bonus to help lure out monsters towards you. You are just walking up and fighting them on roughly 'equal' terms, so whenever you hunting them or they come to you the feast makes sense for both the location and possible logic things.
      In Rise on the other hand the hunters are more akin to ninjas and ops, and with the addition of those Wirebugs giving you more movement options including getting the literal drop on enemies via waiting on a high place and then dropping down in a surprise ambush. The game almost pushes you to get creative on your approach and taking down the monsters. So using those hyōrōgan dangos make sense in the it gives you all the nutrients you need without getting too full/bloated like you would from a grand feast, or having possible residual scents of the meal. So possibly having more traditional meals might run the risk of the hunter getting too bloated or having the scent lingered.
      naturally this just does disregard the fact half the armor and weapons we are wielding are giant and realistically we're making a lot of noise just doing that and this is purely from 'a roleplay and logic perspective '. I do wish we could have a bit more different meals in Rise but for what we got i think it was fun from that angle

    The area with the sauna is Seliana’s Gathering Hub, which is more like a massive Guild Hall.

    • @Virjunior01
      @Virjunior01 11 месяцев назад

      Yup! The place with the ship/dumbwaiter and Meowscular chef is the first "town" of Astera... over the course of fifty years, a fleet arrived once a decade (hence 5th fleet being the latest, as World is technically Monster Hunter 5). As the ships got there, they were dedicated to stay and do research, so ships from earlier fleets were repurposed and cobbled together into the entire town along the cliff face, leading up to the first ship up top, which is the gathering hub.
      If you play the game, you will notice maybe 4 ships turned into buildings and crucial facilities for the base of operations in the New World

    The meals in this game provide buffs. Increased health, stamina, accuracy, strength etc. That's what the whole applause thing is about I think. It's your character getting buffed up before fighting a monster.

  • @TwoSevenX
    @TwoSevenX 2 года назад +32

    The Gramma Palico is the master of Meowscular Chef, if you eat all the special meals by getting them special ingredients, you get a little cutscene during the credits with them.
    The anchor scene is you sending your friends' Palicos off to explore stuff, they more they learn the better they get.
    The scenes are from the same areas at different times of the season, hence the decorations. 'Sparkle Kitty' is indeed a space inspired costume, you can also get one for your hunter.
    In Rise you get ninja themed food from ninja themed kitchens.

    Monster Hunter meals look really delicious and hearty. All the food groups and nutrients for maximum gains with the least amount of unnecessary salts and other stuff. I think there actually exists a cookbook to make meals like in the games.
    Considering the Handler spends 99.9% of her time stuffing her face in the canteen (she's always there eating between quests) I am not surprised she knows how to cook XD
    The main canteen is down below the ship. On top of the ship is the Gathering Hub. Food is lifted up from below on the lift system.
    The decorations mean one of the seasonal events is currently active. The Grand Appreciation Festival, from the decor and the starry alien cat costume.

    one mistake palico is the name of a felyne(their species) that has proven to be brave and focused to be next to a hunter as his assistant, they have like levels in their society of how they assist the hunters, from regular workers(any job not related directly into hunting such as blacksmithing, engineering, or cooking, merchants, farmers, ETC), safari explorers(they have proven capable of exploring on their own and bringing goods back to the guild, as well as patrolling on balloons, or information gathering), palicos(the felynes are soo skilled they can accompany the hunters as a support like a squire), and prowlers (so skilled, powerful, and experienced they can hunt solo as this is the equivalent of a hunter, but can tag along), and the master tittle of anything in the categories shows them to be the best in their field

    So you just witnessed the many different cooking animations from World and Iceborne along with their special holiday events and the few Rise and Sunbreak animations. Each game also has different food specialties. MHFreedom/MHFreedomUnite had a wide variety, MHPortable3rd had tea, MHGenerations/GenerationsUltimate has fondue, MH4/4Ultimate had fried rice, the list goes on.
    Monster Hunter has actually been doing this thing since Monster Hunter 2 or possibly the game right after 2. The cooking animation changes game from game, but they’re all equally silly or neat.
    Felyne Fun Fact time (Yes, Felyne not Feline)
    Felynes are one of a handful of sapient races in the MH universe, notably alongside Humans and Wyverians (the people with elf ears, no pinky, and weird feet). They have their own language comprised of meows and cat noises but can learn the basic language everyone else speaks, granted involving many cat puns. Felynes are treated usually as equal citizens and can work jobs or own businesses. Some are blacksmiths, librarians/scholars, farmers, but most notably cooks and Palicoes.
    A Palico is an occupation a Felyne can take where they join a Hunter as field support. Felynes that choose to be their own full fledged hunters are designated as Prowlers and they them selves can have more Palico friends to support them. Prowlers were only available to play as in Monster Hunter Generations and Generations Ultimate.
    The big buff cat is known as the Meowscular Chef. He’s nearly twice the size of an average Felyne and is actually a retired Palico, originally working with a character named The Admiral. The blade he uses to slice the meat was originally Meowscular Chef’s old hunting weapon while he was a Palico, now chipped slightly and used for culinary work.
    The granny cat is known as the Grammeowster Chef. She actually trained the Meowscular Chef in how to cook. There was once a time where someone made a giant costume of her and walked around a convention, it’s on RUclips.

    Great...now I'm hungry. Also, please react to the Monster Hunter 10th Anniversary Size Comparison video! It's an older video, but it has some old channel favorites (like the "Thunder Puppy") as well as some monsters you haven't seen yet (and that may not ever be in another Monster Hunter game).

    I love the graphics of the games. I find it funny when the hunter's palico takes a bite and it's still a bit too hot.

    One thing I have to give World over Rise...the food looks aaamaaazing lol! I get the reason for Dango given Kamura is VERY heavy based on Japanese culture..Rise as a whole is until you reach Elgado, but the meals you get in World...? They look delicious and there are some channels that make food on RUclips that HAVE made some of those meals. Also the wrapped food? That's when you use Motley Mix..it's where you pay them with either points or Zenny (the main currency in many Capcom games from Megaman to Monster Hunter and many others) to cook something for you for your item box...like..a good example is instead of taking out the BBQ spit and some Raw Meat into the field and trying to make Well-Done Steaks yourself (and possibly burning them or under cooking them a little), you pay them and they will do it for you..you can give mushrooms for Herbal Medicines which remove poison and restore some health, Fish for Gourmet Fish, stuff like that that you carry INTO a hunt, hence why it's wrapped. If you use something besides Raw Meat there is a chance you'll get an extra item, and the more you give them the higher that chance, also using Motley Mix gives you Dango tickets to use when getting Dango before hunts so you can raise the chance the Dango effect will activate to almost 100% of the time on many of them.

    I was hoping this included old MH canteen cutscenes as well, but this will do just fine...for now
    Edit: I hope there's a complete video out there, because a lot of canteen cutscenes are missing, especially the festival ones

    You should watch the opening movies from all the games and then all ecology videos. I feel like most people who are recommending MH right now are people who started from World and really don’t know the depth of twenty years of world-building that made it into what it is now.

    Rise's animations with the dango are very cute and wholesome, but since the original MH in 2004 all the way to World, the food was so good looking it actually made you hungry.
    A bit of a... downgrade, if I may put it this way. As somebody who tasted dango, it's not all that awesome anyway.
