    I had a similar issue in the early 80s on my 73 Plymouth Sattelite. Headers were roasting the starter. I wrapped the starter with an asbestos tile and that did the trick.

    I'm on my 3rd starter in 5 years. Last starter replaced 2/22/20, but it is under warranty. Now I just have to do it again. The long bolt is stronger, it's an upgrade. Whatch the Junkman2000 on here, he had the original short bolt and it broke the block it needed to be welded. I upgraded it the first time I did my starter, I believe mine is for a suburban.

      Is there in any heat shielding in your set up?

    • @LittleJimmyNorton
      @LittleJimmyNorton 3 года назад

      No no heat shield, I was about to do my starter once again, but now it turned out to be the ignition switch. I tried 2 AC Delco cheap Chinese replacements and both had problems. So I went to contemporary corvette salvage yard and purchased a used ignition switch with key assembly for $50 and stopped at the locksmith and had them make me a new key for the new assembly that matched my original chip so I didn't have to get it programmed. Problem solved for now, just waiting for the next problem, frigging chevy! My 2 Lexus' NEVER give me problems.

    Thanks for doing these videos. I’m running a cammed 09 c6 for hard mountain use and haven’t had too much trouble thus far but these videos are gold for when things do finally wear out. So far I’ve just killed an alternator pulley (decoupled style pulley so I just had the pulley welded) and my evap solenoid died. I’ve been running the car for over a year started stock and did a bilstein shock, poly adjust pad, longtubes, bolt on basic mods with a mgw, r888r on all four corners and these c5-c7 chassis style cars are animals!

      I'm here for the community fam, I just enjoy sharing the knowledge. And 100% these platforms have so munch potential for the money but of course they have there own issues here and there. Sounds like everything thats gone wrong with your car has been realatively simple, I'd love to see the build do you have photos on your IG?

    Man I can't believe mine still works. It has 115k miles on it, I've been tracking the car the past 2 years with kooks headers and no wrap. Then when my engine blew, a piece of the rod hit the starter, and the oil from the crankcase started a fire right on top of it and the thing still works.....

    • @Beezy_Builds

    Where are you doing the work? Military hobby facility? I have an intermittent no start. I keep getting a PO335 and PO340 Cam Crank circuitry code. I have checked the cam sensor looks ok. I will jack it up and take out the starter and check the cran sensor. Car is a 2005 with only 30k. Love the car when it runs but it is a queen for sure.

    • @gopro2027
      @gopro2027 4 года назад

      @@Beezy_Builds Yea I beleive so, all the work I did was under the car, unlike in your video, they detached right above the starter but I still had to take the hangars and other bolts off so I could drop it down. I guess that's the manifold it connects to right there by the starter? The previous owner installed a cat back borla exhaust though but I didnt really have to to touch that besides disconnecting from it to drop it.

Got me nervous, eventually I'll get em. One dude had the main tensioner pulley just come apart and he was just cruising wound up overheating the engine. Pretty sad you have to replace and rap the starter with a heat shield because the factory didnt add a heat shield gm is so cheap they will do anything to save a dime

    • @Beezy_Builds
      @Beezy_Builds  2 года назад

      Its not GMs fault in this case the longtubes cook the starter

    • @gotmylk
      @gotmylk 2 года назад

      GM didn't install the Longtubes and the starters in these cars are now 18+ years old. Any starter in any car gets heat soaked and will start to fail over time. Especially if you run longtube headers right next to it.
      Wrapping the headers and wrapping the starter will delay starter failure due to heat soak.
