The 5.7 Hemi slap had me falling out of my chair..... as this is now a proven stereotype. Being a LS guy myself this was us back in the mid 2000s and early 2010s
BMW N52. Last NA I6 BMW made, (with based port injection and valvetronic) overlooked because it only made 260 horses max, 230 in its most common form, and was overshadowed by the N54, which is a whole other can of worms and broken fuel systems.
The S85 doesnt even have any huge problems besides the rod bearings, I work at a BMW Shop in germany and if you have a manual transmission youll probably be fine, its a crazy sounding engine that really gives you that f1 feeling in a sedan.
Funny thing is that S85 is actually more reliable than S54. There are just so many fanboys who have never owned e46 M3 dont know it's actually LEAST reliable BMW ever made.
As a long-time corvette enthusiast, I actually appreciate the shoutout to the LS and LT platforms. The LT5 was crazy in its daily for allowing a 350 smallblock to spin to 7200 rpm reliably (the engine was tested 200 hours nonstop I recall for the pre 92 models and 400 hours post 92 models). And looking for a C5 Z06 equipped with the LS6 of course and hopefully someday a LS7 swap I appreciated the entry. However, if I'm not seeking smallblock perfect weight distribution fuck yeah, I want a big block from any manufacturer stuffed into the corresponding car.
Don't buy C5 Z06. You get zero value for your money, because LS6 is actually LS1 with different heads and cam. Just buy mint base C5 with H/C and longtubes already done. You save money and get a much faster car. Also Z06 has zero exterior parts over base (except brake ducts) and FRC looks ugly compared to Targa.
@@DuBstep115 not entirely true. The brake ducts are function on the z06(they ain’t fake slap ons). The FRC chassis in 12 percent stiffer than the coupe and about 50 lbs lighter while reducing lift by 20 percent, at a price of plus 4 percent drag(comparing the 2000frc vs the base coupe c5s as they didn’t receive more weight reduction beyond the lowest trim level and the frc chassis). And I do plan on tracking my car so that’s important. The LS6 though you’re mostly correct, the block was machined better than the LS1 and allows more efficient air flow and more efficient transport of oils through the block. The only thing I’d argue that’s better on the base model is the transmission with closer gears for track. No hate, I’m just describing the differences. However I would be willing to buy a 2000 corvette frc instead at a low price. Because after a while the LS6 will be leaving for an LS7 and the tremic t56 manual for a tr6060 from the c6 zr1.
@@ryanrake2714 I am not hating the Z06 but the price difference what they are asking for nice base C5 with H/C already done vs Z06 is not justified. I would say if you are planning to keep Z06 stock, buy Z06. If you are planning to ANY mods, buy base C5. Otherwise you are paying Z06 premium for nothing.
@@DuBstep115 oh I didn’t mean to make it sound as if you where hating on the z06. I just believe the saved weight, lower center of gravity, increased chassis rigidity, and the reduced lift is worth the extra cost. And as I mentioned previously I’d be perfectly happy with a 2000 corvette FRC as I get all the advantages of the z06(besides the brake ducts and FE4 suspension, and minor weight saving measures). I also love the frc body style and I completely understand that not everyone shares the same taste. I happen to think the extended rear deck looks aggressive. If I got a standard c5 in the future it’ll probably be a convertible, just a fun car and nothing more. I just don’t really want the coupe for track racing.

As a former L28E owner in my 82 280zx, while the engine was reliable and put out decent power, I never thought that it was an engine people would ever get fanboyish about.
2jz fanboys are pretty cringe too tbh. I mean yeah the 2jz is ridiculous if you absolutely need 4-digit power numbers, but the 1jz is cheaper and sounds better if you aren't going past 600 hp, and lets be honest, you're probably just gonna do headers and an intake.
Missed out of the AMC Inline 6. They stopped manufacturing them 16 years ago, but people absolutely love them. Can set you back $6000 for one in good used condition.
I expected something with the K20, where the fanboy is talking about how it can make 600HP NA while they're driving around a base RSX making 120HP at the wheels. As an EP3 Si owner with the same K20A3 as the base RSX, I can confirm.
GM Powertrain likes it that way, since the LT5 was a foreign interloper. That's probably why they also stuck the LT5 RPO on that snooze of an engine in the C7 ZR1; snooze not because it wasn't powerful, but because an extra blown LT4 is wholly uninteresting.
I came to see what would be said about the LS engines and it's pretty much the "meh it's a LS what can you say" I was expecting. It's light, it's powerful, it's reliable, and it's cheap. When the worst negative you can come up with is "it's not special but gets the job done" then it's basically the equivalent to the woman you end up marrying who wasn't your dream girl but she checks most of the boxes and doesn't drive you crazy.

Im nowhere near a car guy yet I still found this video to be hilarious. Good content
As a Z owner, I am so grateful that you included the L28. Thank you so much.
As a Subaru fan, I liked the EJ part. Though I'd like to recommend the EG (EG33 from the Subaru SVX, for example) for a possible part 2.
Thanks for the laughs!
For all your Australian fans, part two NEEDS the Barra, it's a 4 litre Inline 6
hey bladed, what do you think about midnight club? they have strict etiquette but are at the end of the day street racing
People WISH they could be half as Cool and Suave as Midnight Club was. Most Street Racers these days just do it for clout or adrenaline. No concern for life or class.
Definitely would love to see the Northstar in part 2, and it’s entry definitely just needs to be a rant about how if you completely re-do the head studs it’s a good engine
Literally have to re-drill the holes, tap all new threads, and use studs the size of your thumbs, but once you do that by golly it can make a lotta power
This. Is it BMW's 2JZ-GE? Idk, but it'll be an honor if I ever own one
About the 2jz, don't forget it was also used in the gs300s, the first gen is300s, and was also in the Toyota chasers and aristos in Japan.
The s85, if serviced correctly, is just another Engine. But it Sounds so dann good
Wonder if you could ZF 8 swap with s85 i think that would be a phenomenal car
@@ryanrake2714 I had 2002 C5 convertible 6-speed, it was a nice car. I also had the Z06 brake ducts, Z06 front fog light grills. MGW shifter,. borla X pipe, muffler delete and intake.
Hey Bladed, just want to say that I'm working on that Fanart I said I was doing!
Technically my favorite engine is rotary and I completely agree with what it says about me. But I also love the l3-vdt, I drive a Mazda 3 and plan on putting one into it when my trans/engine goes. They're fairly reliable, make loads of power for a 2.3 and still fairly cheap considering its gonna be a daily and not beat to shit.
Edit: not swapping the engine, just buying a speed3. Too much work trying to fit that engine in (all the shit that goes with an intercooled turbo 4) even though it's a drop in
Brain says "save money", heart says "but rotary go brap brap brap"
6:11 I feel personally attacked 😂, i have those exact same louvers on my challenger too. Buuut my Borla and Injen stickers are legit cuz i got parts from em. My only defense😂

EcoBoost owners be like: "EcoBoost more like EcoBeast!" On a side note I didn't know you either still had the Mustang/bought it from the insurance company
Nah, there was a very specific reason why I never stated "I sold my Mustang". The poor car got stuck in a 6 month limbo due to Court Cases between my Insurance Company and the (Now known as "at fault" but at the time: The 'other party') Even after I got it back, my dumbass used the money won from Court to uhhhhhh... _Buy Leone_
Which delayed me fixing thhe stang even longer. By the time I got serious looking for salvage yard candidates to use for Callie, yet another year had passed.
When I finally found a proper candidate, I let a shop deal with her frame and door (Details written in Description). She returned to my hands last November and I have been working to replace her panels and bumpers/suspension/ and also mod her cause hurr burr CaR gUy
The engine is formidable in the Focus RS.

@@meep9935 "Totaled" just means it's going to cost more to fix it than to sell it. Most insurance companies will mark any car with Frame Damage as a "Total Loss" or "Totaled" and NGL the smart thing would've been to let them take her back and give me a payout (it was insultingly low at the time, $18K). But I'm a sTuBBoRN cAR gUY. Unlike most RUclipsr's who change cars every 3 months, i get very sentimental, so I chose to keep the Stang IN SPITE of it being a "Waste of money"
Also fuck Push pins. All my homies hate push pins. I had no Idea Ford's are practically held together by them ON EVERY PANEL. I just bought a bunch of spring nuts/and or just drilled/mounted actual locations for screws and bolts to go into. I'm gonna track the stang so it's gonna need to have stuff go on and off a lot, so yeah right I'm keeping shitty push pins instead of actual bolts....no wonder why they sag from factory. It's funny. I drove around with a sagging bumper on the Stang in 2017-2018 becuz I was a nooby shop baby too scared to know what caused it. Only to now just YEET everything around and even drill the Stang with no hesitation. I've changed a lot, that in a self makes me melancholic but also very proud. Past me entrusted Future me to someday get the time and money needed to set aside appointments at multiple body shops to fix Callie.
What past me never expected was Future me to actually be smart enough to just _work on it_ myself. I've definitely become more of a "Car Guy" than I was back then. It's cool seeing how much power that gives me.
@@BladedAngel Thats crazy, glad you kept the stang though, I feel like if fords build quality was actually good it would be up there with Toyota and such. Hope to see videos on it in the future
Probably a good thing that no inline 5s showed up
I would like to see the M156 for part 2. It's kinda like the German equivalent of the GM LS or the modern Chrysler Hemi but a bit more complicated.
I expected something with the K20, where the fanboy is talking about how it can make 600HP NA while they're driving around a base RSX making 120HP at the wheels. As an EP3 Si owner with the same K20A3 as the base RSX, I can confirm.
As a fg2 k20z3 owner I can confirm I do this too
@@thekernel69 At least your motor revs higher and can make a lot more power than mine with less work.
Lol it pains me, the sheer amount of people, even who work at Chevy, who think the LT6 is the first DOHC Corvette engine, and forget the gorgeous LT5

Personally I was never a fan of the 6g72 from the 3kgt but the 4g63t is a beast of an engine right out of the box and is even capable of exceeding the stock output of a turbo charged 72 on stock internals. As far as mitsus V6 goes I always liked the 6g75 from the 4th gen eclipse. It's not quite as fast but is far more responsive with a ton more low end grunt.
