“It’s a 5+1…..which is 6 by the way” 😂 that’s classic Hicock humor
I wish this guy was my uncle or grandfather or a close friend. A very interesting and intelligent man who has a wealth of knowledge and just loves shooting guns and loves the USA. I love and appreciate all the videos. Please never stop
I’ve said the same thing for years. How can anyone not want to hang out with Hickok.
Shooting on his range wouldnt be terrible either. Lol
Marry his son then... simple
@@evilnineteen I've always said I'd love to visit his range and have an opportunity to shoot with him.
Same ive never had a grandpa
His accuracy never ceases to amaze me - especially with pistols and shotguns
Glad someone finally covered this shotgun. When I bought mine there were 0 video coverage. Since then classic firearms posted a video and now this beauty.
For sure. I'm very picky and selective with my money. I like to look at, at least 3 videos on a gun *AND* read several reviews befor I go for it.
There are plenty videos on this shotgun though.
I have a couple buddies that have these. These are very under-rated shotguns
I have one. Love the way it shoots. No issues.
I have a regular Defender I put an ATI adjustable stock on. I like it, but it's one of those situations where the aftermarket is really the limiting factor.
@@justsomeguyontheinternet5331 I had a 1300 defender myself, very, very good guns.
I had a 12" hogue overmold entry stock on mine.
@@justsomeguyontheinternet5331 you can get all the major goodies for your SXP. Nordic components mag tubes fit, you got your ATI stock, just get a side saddle and a light, and youre golden! :)
I do wish the magpul stock was available for the SXTs though. I'd probably get one myself.
@@justsomeguyontheinternet5331 I feel like i've seen you in my comments section before. If so, hello again! :)
have a good night.
It just needs to have a bayonet lug to make it complete.
Marine based
My father owns a shotgun with a bayonet on it, I've always thought it was badass but totally overkill.
Omg that's Exactly what I was gunna say! Yes! I second that.
Needs a cheese grater on top. Even if it doesn't need one. Black, for some much needed contrast.
What for? If they get past the 00 Buck you're done for anyway.. lol
I felt the same way as you about the pistol grip. That’s why I opted for the ultimate defender, all black without the pistol grip. Have had it for almost 8-9 years never had any issues . Shot slugs buck and birdshot , ate everything up
Always well spoken, informative and fun to watch. He is the Bob Ross of firearms
Hickok is that cool uncle everyone should have! Great episode as usual my friend!
Another awesome Hickok video!
I like pistol grips. Helps reduce shoulder felt recoil, especially when firing 3" or 3.5" shells. I've even seen pistol grips with recoil reduction springs in the grip.
No one ever mentions that. Old shoulders would appreciate it. Well, mine would.
AA12 has entered the chat. Would be cool if those were obtainable, even in semi-auto.
@@toxicmatrix1337 The idea of a full auto shotgun is ridiculous :D
@@tolpacourt full auto and no recoil too! 🤣🤣 Thats gotta be fun.
May Hickok lives forever.
The SXP recoil system however they do it is a really comfortable experience at the range..even with hard-hitting turkey loads.
Overall, not a bad shotgun for the money. It does what a shotgun is supposed to do.
For many years I used a Winchester Model 12 to hunt Dove, Quail and Pheasant and recently picked up the SXP Field. Although I don't have the Model 12 anymore ( sad to say ), I found the SXP similar and am thoroughly enjoying it's similarities with use.
How are you liking that field? I just picked up an sxp upland field and I'm hoping to catch a couple cottontails with it
Great shotgun, I purchased one last year and it's been a quality shotgun at a very fair price.
I own the Winchester sxp marine model and I freaking love it. Great gun to take on those extreme weather condition excursions or out the Texas rivers and lakes for protection against Chupra Cabras and the Llorana if the need ever arises. The fact that the Marine model stands up to the Texas humidity and wet weather while never rusting is a great plus. I've owed it 5 years and no issues except that loading the mag was a bit tricky when new. Now after very good use. The breach works great.
bought this a few months ago and i LOVE it. The picatinny rails are great too
My local store is selling these for under $250.
Edit: they're selling the plain SXP Defender for that price, not the "Extreme" Defender with door breacher muzzle device or whatever.
@Tom It's $398 at Buds. You can get the regular defender for low $200's when they run a rebate.

Hickok's terrible humor is awesome. Love it :)
Hickok, you look so much like my late Grandfather, the resemblance is uncanny. You both would have gotten along like clockwork. Bless you and your family Hickok45.
Great test shoot pretty cool shotgun i bought the Charles Dyle ar 12 haven't seen too many video on it great shooting great video thanks Hickok 45
Very cool video.Thanks Hickok 😊😊
Nothing like a little range time with the old scatter gun!
Dude the timing is so ironic. I just bought a sxp defender about 2.5 moths ago, mostly in part due to your first video on it. Just got a mag extension on it and I love it.
Where did you get your mag extension?
@davidguy7335 I got it online from choate. You will need to grind/file down the two metal tabs in the magazine tube or else it won't work. It's supposed to hold the spring retainer but it's not needed so file away
Had a Winchester Super X model 1 12 guage back in the 1980s. Winchester made some great rifles and shotguns back in the day.
Nice shotgun thanks for sharing Hickok45
Its a American design with the Winchester name but its made in Turkey. I love the sxp! Very reliable 👍
QC is done in Utah though, so you're still getting an American standard on all the specs.
I have a Winchester SXP Defender. About 10 years old. Works great.
Thanks for sharing your videos and keep them coming please.
I’ve got the regular SXP Defender FDE and it is the best $315 I ever spent. Action was fine to start but got positively slick after about 50 rounds. Turkey’s done fine executing the specs and I don’t know what else anyone could ask for at the price.
I bought one during the pandemic - I was looking locally for the cheapest pump I could find to use as a hideaway barn gun... Turns out I like it better than any of my other shotguns - it's the fastest pump I've used. Like you said, very slick.
Hello, love the FDE platform. Come with 18" barrel? Experienced any issues?
@@JamesWilliams-he4lbsame story here
I shot a 357 for the first time not too long ago and I fell in love with it. It was a Six Inch Smith. So fun!
I bought my son one of the all black SXPs..but it’s pretty slick..minimalism but effective..even that shotgun was made in Turkey about 13-14 years ago..I’m sure it is still made there..
As always thanks for the info. I won't buy a gun without checking to see if you've done a video on it first. 👍
Great video Hickok 45! While I'm mostly a traditional kind of guy when it comes to shotguns, meaning I like the traditional wood stock and blued steel finish, this shotgun is very cool and interesting.
My neighbor never answers the door was the funniest thing I've heard in a long time!😂
I'm a winchester 1300 owner. My first firearm purchase, she'll never leave my safe. Since the SXP line up is the "2.0" version of the 1300. It's an American designed shotgun made in turkey. I get the purist arguments, but really, the SXP and the 1300 and 1200 are great guns and are the reason I got into guns and hunting. They don't have the nice meaty shotgun sound when pumping it, but they are quiet while hunting
I have the model before it the Winchester 1300 speed pump defender love it great shot gun
Thank you, always great videos. From you.
Love your vids!!! Have you thought about reviewing the Weatherby Mark V Deluxe?
really great on the engraving.
Cool shoot gun. Thanks again for your work
WELL DONE SIR 👍🇺🇸👍
I have a Sears bolt action 12g that I bought for $25 in 1963. I've never found a need to upgrade
Saw this at Buds in Lexington Ky last week!!! NICE!!!
My dad and I just picked these up today, I would say the quality seems to be just as amazing as some of the made in America products I have. We’re looking forward to hitting the range soon with them to see how they do!
Hi Hickok45
Great Shotgun 💪🏼👍🏼
Greetings from Reno, Nevada. You’re too funny.
Another great video from the gun god
Love the humor 😂
My .22 has one of those slip on recoil pads to give me the stock length I need. It makes a huge difference in being able to shoot straight.
This is very informative thank you
I’ve got the 1300, it’s pretty fantastic. I need to con one of my friends into buying the new model so I can see if it’s worth me picking up haha.
Seen u on Ron spoomer . That was a good talk. Love your videos.
Just purchased the black version basically for home defense...looks like it'll handle what I purchased it for.
Liked the pistol grip simply to take a little of the recoil away from my shoulder!
Got SXP Field recently - a great value for the money firearm.
Appreciate the review of this Shotgun.. Seems to run like a champ and looks pretty good.. 👍🦅🇺🇸
Seems like it’s hard to load. My Ithaca can be loaded in a pitch black room no problem. Runs smooth as silk.
Love this guy.
My Mom just ordered one of these things. Can't wait till to try this puppy out myself
"Five plus one. Which is six by the way."
Thanks, Hickok! We hate math but we love you!
You can count the capacity on one hand ... If you're from Kentucky.
Shot at a friend's friend's private backyard range this past weekend. It was set-up being inspired by Hikock45's. Great time!
I fired both this and the Super Nova, I found the Benelli a better fit for me. Great Vid!~
Hard to criticize hickock for anything - and this isn't really a criticism (you're awesome) - but one of the best things about those SXPs is the inertia-assisted pump and I don't think he showed it. You can rack a really fast follow-up with those things. Fastest pump I've used, actually which is impressive to me for a gun some would shy away from because they're made in Turkey. So fast you really don't notice the sound of racking the pump because the sound from the last shot is still in your ears. My regular SXP also cycles mini shells surprisingly well, too, which is neat.
Thanks for the upload. I was wondering if you would be able to get your hands on the i86 Lsw? It’s a strange looking gun and I’d like to know more about it and your opinion on it
1:51 that whole explanation is classic 😂
AMAZING VIDEO! THANK YOU HICKOK45
I have an og Winchester defender lotta shells through it. Adjustable pistol grip stock It works well with no issues.
Sportsman Warehouse has been selling those for a little over $200.00; I have a Benelli and some Winchester model 12's.
I dont have this particular model but I really like my sxp. It has a normal stock/grip and a unthreaded I think 18 inch barrel.
Thanks for the vid on this type of shotgun. I requested a vid on one similar about a year ago. I see why you didn't do it. But thanks anyway!
love and respect from Turkey. nice and inspiration video.
Sweet! Shotgun
Very good gun. I love it
Winchester SXP's are great shotguns. It's the upgraded version of the Savage/Stevens 320 witch even though it's made In China is still a nice budget shotgun.
That looks really nice, I've been thinking of getting a shotgun
I’m picking one of these up this week what are the chances you make a video on it the same week lol thank you!!!
Thanks I'm glad I got one
This is the first shotgun I ever bought. I ran out to Cabela's the day I turned 18 and picked one up a few months ago. The gun is a really sweet shooter and it fits me really well. Ejection was a little weak though, so I took the ejector spring out and bent it a little and now it throws shells out at least 5 feet. Overall for the price, I think it is a great value and a good choice for defense!
Just bought one on a whim because it was $100 off good to see a review.
Basically did all the mods everyone wants, so you don't have to. Decent price for what you get.
Call me traditional But there's something about a beautiful walnut stock and a forend backed up by a deep blue Finish that I love about a shotgun I know that there's people that love guns like that I bought a mossburg 500 cruiser Something about that pistol grip I just didn't like so I bought a new stock and forend for it And wound up spending more money when I shouldn't of bought a shotgun that was made that way to begin with As always Hickok I enjoyed the video thanks
TNT outdoors, you got Company comin
Hey thats my favorite duckhunting shotgun. I love taht gun 😍😍
MY SXP cycles the 1 3/4 shortys like a boss. Wish you would have tried them.
Thank you Hickok... I've said to my friends for years that I don't like pistol grips on shotguns.... they look at me funny... but I am what I am.
I don't like them either. It's not the looks; it's just that they make a shotgun a more awkward item to manipulate. Once the shotgun is shouldered and is being fired, the pistol grip is fine, of course.
@@hickok45 While we are at it.. id like to say thank you again for pointing our how practicality isn't always the point... I shoot my 9mm, and 45 colt pistols as steel at 230 yards routinely.. not because I can hit the target every time.. but its fun, and its really fun when I can pull it off. and who knows.. maybe that will come in handy some day... I enjoy your content, for many years now. thank you.
Almost bought one but went with the Benelli SuperNova Tactical instead. Overall fit and finish is far better on the Benelli.
Nice looking shotgun..Question - Will you have a guest at your range again, & who might it be ? Ty
Wow that beauty 😊
I love watching you. It's really great when you use us ww2 weapons. I have a bunch of weapons my grandfather left me.
Watching Little Rock Arkansas thanks for sharing
hey Hickok,
have you seen the .500 bushwacker by tii armory. its alot of gun but has claims as the most powerful handgun. its in a magnum research bfr frame and can also shoot 500sw. if its interesting would be cool to see a vid on it
Damn check out this belt buckle. What a legend!
Good looking gun.
That was great 5+1 which is 6 by the way 😂😂😂 always appreciate your knowledge and videos
I just got the SXP Trench. I can't wait to shoot it
TY SIR, GREAT STUFF AS ALWAYS. JUST 1 POINTER, MAYBE SLOW DOWN ON THE POT SMOKE N !!!
