I used to think of Phil as being uncool (mainly due to some of his 80s hit singles and how Genesis went in a more mainstream direction under his leadership) but when I first heard Eno's Another Green World I saw he drummed on a few tracks and especially on the first track really liked the sound of them, and now respect him a lot more for what he's achieved. Shame to see him in poor health though, and must be so hard to not be able to play drums anymore

Basically they ALL played horribly but Zeppelin made Phil the scapegoat because he was unable to make the rehearsals and they went thru great lengths to bury the footage. Thus began the decades of parroting that Phil sucks "because if Led Zeppelin said it then it must be true."

I love both Oasis and Phil Collins, so I am not taking sides here. Phil is one of the most soulful singers and brilliant drummers and musicians the world has ever known. His work with Genesis and as a solo artist are remarkable. Oasis is my second all-time favorite band after The Beatles. Noel Gallagher is hands down the best songwriter of his generation, and Liam is easily one of the greatest rock vocalists in history. What the Gallagher brothers accomplished together in Oasis was truly magical. Definitely Maybe and What's the Story (Morning Glory) are two of the finest rock albums ever released.
I like 'em both as musicians, so why take sides? They are very different in style, so why compare? Phil Collins is a nice guy off stage. I've met him. Noel Gallagher is a class act as a musician and can be very entertaining off stage. Liam Gallagher is a nobhead in every sense of the word. Phil Collins alone has sold more than double Oasis’ sales, and even Genesis as a group has sold more than them. Collins has won 8 Grammy’s and an Academy Award, Oasis have won neither. Oasis are a beloved British band, but on a worldwide scale Phil Collins will always be more successful than them.

Ben Richards oasis have sold over 70 million albums world wide and were one of the biggest bands on the planet at their peak. They are well known world wide and especially in South America for some reason, Just look at some of their concerts abroad. Most of North America didn't quite get oasis and therefore this limited their popularity potential, if Oasis broke America then they would undoubtedly be up there with the Beatles and the stones, despite that though they are still one of the "big bands". They weren't only big in the UK.

At the same time, it deepens and enriches the meaning of the preceding three albums.

I used to think of Phil as being uncool (mainly due to some of his 80s hit singles and how Genesis went in a more mainstream direction under his leadership) but when I first heard Eno's Another Green World I saw he drummed on a few tracks and especially on the first track really liked the sound of them, and now respect him a lot more for what he's achieved. Shame to see him in poor health though, and must be so hard to not be able to play drums anymore

+jmactemin It all started because of Live Aid and Phil's involvement with the Led Zeppelin "reunion." Phil was the 2nd drummer with Tony Thompson, who is a funk drummer from the band Chic. Basically they ALL played horribly but Zeppelin made Phil the scapegoat because he was unable to make the rehearsals and they went thru great lengths to bury the footage. Thus began the decades of parroting that Phil sucks "because if Led Zeppelin said it then it must be true."

False. They were ALL poorly rehearsed. Plus it wasn't even night time. Phil's playing wasn't any worse than Tony Thompson rushing the time (as he usually did) Plant's screwed up voice and Page's dismal playing as he fought to stay in key.

Oasis are extremely inconsistent. First two albums are great don't me wrong, they're amazing I can see why people love 'em. But everything else after that was uninspired, repetitive, similar, formulaic britrock music.

I love both Oasis and Phil Collins, so I am not taking sides here. Phil is one of the most soulful singers and brilliant drummers and musicians the world has ever known. His work with Genesis and as a solo artist are remarkable. Oasis is my second all-time favorite band after The Beatles. Noel Gallagher is hands down the best songwriter of his generation, and Liam is easily one of the greatest rock vocalists in history. What the Gallagher brothers accomplished together in Oasis was truly magical. Definitely Maybe and What's the Story (Morning Glory) are two of the finest rock albums ever released.

Ben Richards oasis have sold over 70 million albums world wide and were one of the biggest bands on the planet at their peak. They are well known world wide and especially in South America for some reason, Just look at some of their concerts abroad. Most of North America didn't quite get oasis and therefore this limited their popularity potential, if Oasis broke America then they would undoubtedly be up there with the Beatles and the stones, despite that though they are still one of the "big bands". They weren't only big in the UK.

Oasis were over-hyped by the UK media and didn't succeed in America. They're ok but, nothing special. Even Noel says one of the reasons we did not make it big was"We didn't have a frontman like Bono or Chris Martin or Phil Collins." Just a lead singer who was good at sticking 2 fingers up every time someone took a photo of him. In all the tours they had in the USA they either never started or finished them.
