  • On September 2, 1812, at the request of Mgr Irénée-Yves Dessolle (1744-1824), bishop of Chambéry, Sister Suzanne Marcoux of Saint Jean (1785-1855) and another sister from the congregation of the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Lyon opened a house in Aix-les-Bains in Savoie, the community grew and quickly spread across the territory, opening houses and schools.
After the fall of Napoleon I, Savoy became part of the Kingdom of Sardinia and relations between the mother house of Lyon and the Savoyard branches were difficult; the aspirants could not go to the novitiate in France. In 1817, the Chambéry branch became autonomous from the Lyon institute and Mother Marcoux, considered the founder of the congregation, was elected superior general.
The Sisters of Saint Joseph of Chambéry gave birth to the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Turin (1821), the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Saint Jean de Maurienne (1822), of Saint Joseph of Moutiers and of Saint Joseph of Pignerol (1825). The Sisters of Saint Joseph of Chambéry obtained civil recognition from the French authorities in 1866, their religious constitutions were provisionally approved by the Holy See in 1857 then definitively in 1875. In 1966, it formed the Italian federation of the Sisters of Saint Joseph with Aosta , Cuneo, Pinerolo, Turin, Novara, Susa (the latter two merged with Turin in 2006).
    There are at least 3 bells (F#3-3, A3-2, B3+/0)
    REMARKS:
-The 4 dials of the clock are completely out of sync with each other, only the southwest side dial is set correctly, after a second pass after 2 years the situation is still the same
-Before the Angelus the large (?) bell ringed 1 time instead of 12 times for the hourly ringing
