REP x PÉPIN FAST Series adjustable dumbbells start at 10lbs rather than the original's 20lbs. This was achieved by incorporating high-strength aluminum in the headplates of the handle.
The handle side rail coating was changed to Cerakote with a high-contrast laser-etching to better see the weight markings.
The cradle is now expandable.
We did a lot of "invisible" work alongside Pépin himself to turn this originally handmade product into one that is manufacturable, to make it accessible to a wider audience -- without sacrificing quality.

Fantastic! I was thinking the new heavy adjustable dumbbells was going to be a scaled up version of the quick-draw dumbbells, which are a bit long for 60lbs. This is better. I like that they are expandable. I'll probably never need more than 85 lbs, but it's nice to know I can upgrade down the road.
One thing that had me *almost* buying the quickdraws (was holding out for the heavies), was that they are so drop-proof. I'm not saying I need them to be dropped off the roof, but please show us proof that they can be dropped from at least a shoulder-press height.
Need to upgrade my power blocks to this so I can look exactly the same. 😂 Legitimately considering it though. Rep is killing it with this collaboration. I have their Arcadia and short power rack. Very happy with the quality.
There's a $1,132 CAD difference in savings between the 85lbs pair from the collab vs the 80lbs pair on Pepins site. Idk how they managed to lower the price so much but assuming the quality is there, thats incredible for those that have been waiting for a less expensive option.

Pepin handmakes the dumbbells, which is why it is high priced. Rep Fitness developed a manufacturing process, which allows bulk manufacturing and lower prices.
Would LOVE a version with Urethane covered plates, even if it reduces the overall weight. Is that something that’s in the pipeline?

@@Invictus13666 Don't get your panties in a bunch. Just an overall comment on how much stuff Rep's released in 2024 alone. And they didn't design the dumbbells but the holder had to be re-designed and they needed to coordinate manufacturing/shipping. I'm sure a lot of work went into this even though it's Pepin's product

10 lb jumps and has an enclosure, it fits almost perfectly as a compromise between Ironmasters and powerblocks though not necessarily better than either. I’d have to see how long it takes to put on and take off the 5lb increment adapters. I’d also have to see if the cage makes the dumbbell more or less stable and then determine if that’s a good or bad thing. I can see it both ways. The square weight design for ironmasters makes it less wieldy because the weight is not evenly distributed when angled and tends to roll more in your hand when pressing and I have to use 10% less weight. In any case, more options is always better.

What you said about the weight distribution on the Ironmaster square plates is interesting. I was looking to buy a set and honestly wouldn't have considered that the shape of the plates would have any effect. I guess I'm fortunate that they're currently out of stock. I'm still on the fence about the caged design of the Pepins too. It's too bad there's really no way to try any of these out without buying them so all I have to go on are other people's opinions.

Currently this seems to be a moving 4ish month pre-order window. Is there a date you guys have planned for full release where these will be 2-3 weeks shipped?
Once all pre-orders are shipped and we have more on hand inventory we will then ship immediately. This is usually what we do for all super high demand product releases. Our hope would be to catch up with orders around October/November to move to our standard same/next day ship times.

My biggest question is, are the handles the same length for the 85 and the 125 versions? Also, can the weight be increased later from the 85 to 105 with an expansion kit?

@@REPfitness as expected/amazing this is, I'm now questioning my $1,400 preorder. Hopefully there would be some reuse or upgrade kit that at least allows the plates from the 120 lb version to be utilized with a new handle/additional plates. Although, plates for a 180 lb set may be shaped differently to keep the size down.
Other than a heavier set, any additional insight on offerings to expect? Higher quality and cost? Lower quality and cost? Different adjustment(s)/range without micro plates?

I’m curious if I’ll be able to attach my Ancore Pro cable units to the legs of the stand, like I can with my current PowerBlocks Home Rack Stand.
Also, please consider a version with Urethane covered plates! I know it won’t be as compact, or the max weight might have to be a bit lower, but I’d take that compromise for the other benefits Urethane provides.

Can you do curls pretty comfortably with them?
That's something that I've always wondered about with these cage design adjustables. It looks like you would have to pick them straight up, unlike normal fixed dumbbells which you can put your hand under from any angle to pick them up off the rack and put them down. Maybe it's not as big of a drawback as I'd imagine because I've never used them.

BTW, a “walk-in” style stand, like Nuobell, would be ideal, rather than having to bend over to pick them up. I do see the FAQs mention something about a cart, though I hope it’s not too heavy or bulky.
On Rep Fitness FAQ for these DBs, they state that a stand is in development and will come soon.
I want these but feel like I’d rather wait till I can order and receive in a few days . I don’t need to be the first wave of owners if they happen to sell out . Maybe something without the cage will come out before or soon after but still be bulletproof as these .

I don't think there was ever a plan to expand them. They just said a heavier db was coming.

Yeah, that isn't our final coating. We were testing multiple coatings to choose the best one for the plates to slide and be durable.

So, one thing that is confusing for me. Is this 125lb per dumbbell (250lb total) or is it 125lb total between the 2 (62.5 each)?
250lb total. When you're on the website, you can select lighter options too. 85lb pair, 105lb pair, and 125lb pair.

I don't know what the price is for you over there, but here in the U.S. it's $1,299 for the 125lb pair. That's leagues better than anything else out there, not to mention that they're also Pepin! Win-win-WIN scenario imo

Not sure if i should pre order or wait for a review after a few months of use… Ive been in the market for adjustable dumbbells for a while now but I haven’t pulled the trigger because the peppins are just too expensive and the nuobells seem like a toy

Wonder what you guys would recommend with these. Currently my bench dumbbell work out max is 55lb. Been training 2 years. Slowly progressing. Im 42, looking to keep weight lifting as a life goal towards health and function. Should I go for the 80's or pull the trigger on the 105's. 120's might be overkill for me looking to avoid injury. Give the 85's a go, and just add on to them if you need to. You don't even need to buy a need cradle for them... as it's expandable. Nothing to lose going this route. Good luck with your training and we'll be excited to send them to you!

Rep website talks about their new "Inventor" series with the REP x PEPIN FAST dumbbells...do I smell a possible BulletProof Fitness or StrayDog colab in negotiations right now behind the scenes? Either one of these could provide a leg extension / curl attachment for the Rep ecosystem and will hopefully include a way to attach either your Ares or Athena for linear resistance curves.

@sagerkoheel3068 Pepin told me the measurements are slightly different with these Chinese ones and that's the main reason. And REP said they won't sell handles :/. That's fine I'll keep my north American made ones lol

Here's some unsolicited advice: a quick mention/picture/focus on the 2.5 lb weights would alleviate some initial concerns that some of the public "Brain Trust" will have around what appears to be 10 lb increments. So, however you would professionally say, "No, dummies, you can increase in 2.5 lb increments with the included add-ons."
You can also adjust one side and have 5lb increments. Its not noticeable from my experience
Yeah, people are really dumb for not knowing that this thing comes with 2.5lb adder plates that haven't been shown or mentioned. Great marketing advice there Einstein.
