I've gotten the sense that it's about two people, probably very young, who have been through a lot of individual hardship and they are trying to come together and be a couple despite all the things that make each other complicated. It underscores how hard relationships are, because two very different and complex people are trying to share their lives together while being weighed down by the problems their own genetic histories and families give them, the hardships and pressures put on them by the universe/world around them, and the issues that can arise by trying to bind two souls together. But they are trying their best to make it work, because the love feels real. There is something very inspiring about that.
