We've really enjoyed Labadee in the past. It's more natural and relaxing. Loved the zipline. Too bad about the poor Haitian people, what a terrible disaster, they can't catch a break.
Absolutely shameful how much they charged for that. I can’t believe people pay it when you get free sun loungers, umbrellas and the food and beach are exactly the same. For that price I would expect it to be fully catered, top notch food and drinks.
i loved Labdee so much, the people were kind and friendly. they didn't speak much english but they understood the basic words like "bathroom" "food" and pointed to where it was.
You crack me up every week without fail...You going down that coaster screaming "I haven't had enough food"!!! Then passing on the buffet...I laughed until I cried. Honestly, I know you both are out there just doing your thing, but you'll never know what kind of few months I've had with tragic things in the family and financial ruin...to KNOW that when I see a new video posted, for a few minutes none of the yuck will ruin my YUM and know I'll laugh and just feel like myself for a minute or two amidst the chaos... THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! xoxoxo
I had an opportunity to visit in Jan 2023 with Royal Caribbean, it such a beautiful place. I was really overwhelmed. It was the only safe way to visit the country of my ancestors. I pray that it will find peace soon. 🙏🏾
RCCL have really gone off the deep end, and then some, in monetizing absolutely everything. It feels really cheap and annoying to be constantly bombarded with sales pitches. Those mega ships are not my cup of tea. The largest one I have been on is the Freedom of the Seas and I found it to be too large for my liking. My favourite was actually the smallest one that I was on, the Serenade of the Seas. Just the perfect size. Has everything you need and actually feels like you're on a ship and not in a floating shopping mall/amusement park. Great video, and very interesting to see what Labadee looks like more recently, as I was there twice quite a long time ago.
Pray for Haiti and Peace. Was there in December 2017 on OASIS as well, and it didn't feel right then with so much poverty in Haiti and richness in next door neighbor DR . Extremely sad. My son and daughter on that ride only US $12 dollars in 2017
Went to Labadee in 1987, there was nothing there but a beach and a small market, we had to use a tender boat to access the island. The beach was beautiful. As far as food there was just a huge hut with bbq food.
We loved Labadee! We did the WaveRunner Island tour and it was so fun! They teach you how to use a waverunner (or jet ski) and take you on a 45 minute tour around the island in the ocean. The stopped every once in a while to tell you history of Haiti and about pirates and such. It was not super expensive and so worth it!
Probably because the land was dirt cheap. Cruise lines are increasingly leaning into private islands over conventional port stops, because that allows them to keep your 💰 in-house.
Yes, you must be extremely ignorant and oblivious to sufferance to enjoy yourself secluded from a place of misery just by a fence. Well, like they say: Ignorance is bliss - and at the end of the day, the essence of cruising 🤷♀
Gret video as always, Ben and David! Can't stop laughing with you! And yes, please let Royal know of your specific issues. They seem to study their feedback closely, Hopefully with your promoting them, they will see the video, read your surveys and as a result, both respond to you and take action to correct those situations.
I'd like to just say how much I love you two and your content. I am not a cruise person AT ALL, like I have no interest in it and will probably never go, but y'all are so entertaining and sweet and these videos are so relaxing, I watch you all the time when I'm stressed. Cheers.
Love LaBadee! My favorite area is Nellie's Beach. I did the zip line two years in a row. The first year I closed my eyes out of fear 😂 so I had to do it again the following year to see what I missed!
Our very first cruise in 1974 on NCL, we actually went to Haiti and right into the village. We did an excursion which was a donkey ride up to the Citadel. It was quite the experience.
Hi Ben and David. Thank you for sharing all of this. I would be really upset paying that much for a cabana and not getting anything with it. A bottle of wine or champagne, something! As always thank you for all your hard work and taking us along with you ❤❤
Wow it's changed! I was there back in the 90s when it was just a beach and a little market where locals sold their handcrafted items. Our ships crew did a big cookout on the beach for us. We knew there was a security fence with armed guards, but all that was hidden from view by the trees. To be honest, I much prefer the less developed ports, but one is hard pressed to find one now!
I remember all of that! I first went to Labadee on my honeymoon 29 years ago. I think the most recent time I was there was in 2013. Even then, it had changed a bit, but it looked NOTHING like what it does now. I barely recognize it! I wouldn’t mind going again someday, should the unrest settle - but I’d need to be on a smaller ship! I miss ships like my Majesty of the Seas… I’m dating myself 🫣😆
What a riot watching Ben on the roller coaster. It really did look like fun. So disappointing about the food. Those cabanas are too expensive. It should include some drinks and food. We all feel bad about the situation in Haiti. The residents deserve so much more.
Haha, awww. Hearing how terrified you were on the way down put the biggest smile on my face. I'm so sorry to have entertainment at your expense, but it was a rough day and you are a joy.
The prices are so crazy. A one day cabana is more expensive than my 2 week Thailand trip with flight, transfers between cities, excursions, 2 guides and breakfast + lunch included. A cruise sounds awesome but all the extra charges really put me off.
Big fan of you guys! Quick tidbit - there will never more than one ship docked at Labadee, there's not pier space for two! Bit of a perk over Perfect Day if you ask me...
LOL Ben watching you on the roller coaster was funny it looked like you had a great time it looks nice hide away to go to shame they having all that trouble wish the workers who lives there the best
Very usefull info, guys. Thank you. 2000£ for a cobana? Not for me. Actually, i come from one of the most expensive contries in the Word, Norway, and 2000£ is about my own monthly salary after taxes... Yeah, highly overprized.
We use to rent the cabanas on Barefoot Beach. The cooler had cold water - and a great fruit plate. And the special food was special! Always used my free drinks there but you are right - what harm would it do to offer a free drink or two with what you are paying for the cabana. You are right on it guys!!
You and Onslow😄i don’t think on any cruise line, I have ever had a correct room service. My daughter did the dragon’s zip line. I must have looked panic stricken as two very nice attendants took me aside and sat me down by the end of the zipline in one of the restaurants, told me it would be about an hour before she came down, kept stopping by to check on me and finally came to get me when my daughter started down and took me to the platform where she would land. Your roller coaster was hysterical! And I love your hat.
What a lovely, well developed venue. I feel so sorry for the locals who depend on this for their lively hood. Hopefully, the situation in Haiti will change.
oh my gosh, yes i said it, now ihave to pick myself up of the floor after listening to you ben, your cabin is wonderful, any chance you can slide down the banister just for a laugh.
Thank you for the tour. Living your best life. My feet will stay on solid ground and on the main land. Cruised once in Hawaii. I am a land lover, not a water baby at all. Sea sickness takes over. Have a blessed day.
I heard you say razor wire around the resort area, but what stops boat full of armed islanders from landing?? think ill stay this year at home, world has gone crazy. stay safe 💕💕
You are our favorite RUclips channel and our favorite travel channel on tv!! (You should have your own show!!) Your content is the best!!! Love your banter and sense of humor!!! Labadee has really changed…so much more! We were there about seven years ago and there was not all of this!! Disappointed about the suite area at Labadee!! We are on Wonder again in May, in the Crown Loft Suite (which we really appreciate!!) So excited to sail again on Wonder!! Love your honesty, real takes on everything, your professionalism, and humor!! I hope we can meet you in person one day!!😊❤
Just wanted to thank you Ben for your ride on the coaster, my 5 year old son Theodore was in hysterics! “Mummy he did the sign of the cross like me at school” 😂
If I paid that amount, I would be annoyed beyond annoyed. But then, I am the person that while everyone is on the private island, I am remain on my private ship. LOL
OMG, that mountain coaster footage was priceless!😂 We missed our one scheduled stop on account of mdw having come down with norvo, and so was confined to quarters. I was free to go, but I didn't want to leave her behind. I didn't really regret it at all. Glad you had fun!
Agree with everything you said about Royal. Took our last cruise with them a year ago and never again! There is so much better out there. Safe travels, guys!!
Really enjoyed Labadee, Haiti. It's a nice private island. Really relaxing. You could tell seeing and meeting the different vendors the hardships and struggle. Praying for Peace and Safety for the Haitian people 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Thank you both for the lovely tour of Labadee! I haven't been since around 2015/2016 when we did yearly three generation family cruises on Celebrity. I'm thrilled to see all the positive changes that have been made but had a bit of sticker shock on the prices! Yes, the vendors are a bit pushy but they were also very good-humoured and knew how to make potential customers laugh. Never did the zipline (like Ben, scared of heights), but my sister-in-law and nephew did and they said it was amazing!
Well, this brings back memories of sailing on Majesty of the Seas during her inaugural season and Labadee being canceled as a port of call at the last minute because of unrest -- and that was back in the '90s.
Congrats and have fun! Be warned, it is addictive! We went on our first cruise in April 2023 and loved it so much we booked the next one while we were still on the ship! Sailing again in about a month.
I was on on a Royal Caribbean cruise 7 years ago that included Labadee. I thought Haiti was a kind of risky choice, given its past history (things are much worse now), but the fact that the cruise had its own area made me feel less anxious. Basically, my experience was very much like yours, but I stuck to the free beaches and food. I also encountered the aggressive local merchants, but they were all very friendly...just anxious to make a few dollars. I never felt threatened. It is a lovely setup, and it looks like Royal Caribbean has added some new features since my trip. Too bad they're shutting it down for awhile.
I’m not sure Royal Caribbean docks multiple ships Quantum-class or larger at Labadee at the same time often. I think if they dock two ships, it’s usually smaller ships. MAYBE a Quantum-class and a Vision or Radiance-class. Similarly, they don’t have any itineraries I’ve seen that dock Icon of the Seas at CocoCay with anything larger than a Voyager-class ship.
I would not eat food sitting out with flys on it! You could take the corn on the cob back to your room and microwave it for a snack.the island looks beautiful so sad they are having violence.thanks for the lovely tour
First, don’t have to eat the free food offered in port Second, RC asks you to not to carry fresh food on or off the ship. Third, the cabins don’t have a microwave 🙂
If you ever get to Frankenmuth, Michigan, Tony’s Restaurant is just off the expressway! Bacon 🥓 bacon 🥓 and more bacon 🥓 is a single order (of bacon 🥓!)
I remember the BLT sandwich at Tony's: two slices of bread with lettuce and tomatoes, and about a pound of bacon! And they deep fry the bacon to make it extra crispy.
Hi guys we love Labadee we been 4 times with Royal. The last time we was there we just settled on Nelly beach and storm came in so it was rush to the ship my partner had key card so I could not get back and I only shorts and heavens opened and got on the ship before I could so ended up like drowned rat by time i got back on the ship
I am in my seventies and have always thought a cruise would be the very LAST thing I would ever want to do (even if I had the means). But you two gentlemen make it seem so enjoyable!!! Thank you for letting me tag along…. You are both great company! You do an excellent, polished, entertaining job!! I’m a fan.
Hi you two, I was hoping you would do a review of Ladabee and Barefoot Beach. I apologize again for gatecrashing your cabana😳 And then moaned about the crappy, fly infested food and service..lol..I tried to get a bottle of champagne to you on the last day but you were already gone😪 Ben, your roller coaster ride was hilarious, i had tears rolling down my face🤣🤣 I love your channel and reviews. You are both so natural and down to earth, even in real life!!🤣...hope our paths cross again..❤
Visited Labadee the 1st time before it was made into a resort with my late husband. We tendered off to Columbas beach which was the only 1 & had a bbq under a tin shack.A bar & local dancers entertained us ,FAB. I visited solo in 2019 off Independance & was gob smacked at the change. Went up to Columbus on tram ,shed a few tears but thought the resort was fabulous. My favourite after St. Marteen.
Great video as always. It is a shame you didn't walk back through the shops. It can be quite terrifying being accosted by the locals trying to take your money.
Loved your ride Ben .. I was laughing so hard 😂😂😂. The price for cabanas is truly nuts .. I realize on holidays, but … Thanks for the trip report .. always enjoying them. Keep up the great work 🇨🇦🥰🇨🇦
We’ve been to Labadee 5 or 6 times. Love it, so sad about the violence. Hopefully Royal will be able to safely return soon. We always stay in a Loft Suite so we go to the private beach too! The food was always good, and we always have the drink package so we don’t pay for cocktails.
The first 3 minutes of this video were perfect. Swimming with pigs for free, and David saying “Don’t let RC find out” was hilarious. I don’t know if this has happened yet, but you guys are going to be approached at some point about doing a traditional TV show. I just want you to know before that happens, please do not accept that offer. You are too good doing things on your own, to have to work under a corporate structure. Keep doing what you’re doing, and you will not need any other entity to be involved.
I agree with both of you 100% about the food at Labadee. We were on Symphony of the Seas December 10th sailing the food was just horrible. The rice had no taste and was cold. The hamburger a chicken were burnt, dry and tasteless. Even the fruit punch and lemonade was just a little color in the water. Only thing had taste was the hot dog. I spoke to one of the manager about how disgusting everything was, he said they are trying to get it together. Coco Cay has better food and selection. I will be sailing on Explorer of the Seas April 14, was to stop in Labadee, they now changed it to Coco Cay which makes me very happy. Only the beach is good there.
I was on Oasis of the Seas on a holiday sailing in 2010, and we were in Labadee on Christmas Day, I saw Santa zip lining on that huge zip line over the beach!
Hello Ben and David. I am just winding down after a long day wit a cup of coffee and two biscuits. I do like your reporting style. I have never been to Labidee but this looks just perfect. Thank you for all the tips on getting free seating. There were lots of nice free places to relax. Looks like you had a fab.day. Thank you💖💖
I've always wondered about this island. And now I think I'll put it on my list - once it's open again. Poor souls in Haiti - they just seem to always been in a crisis after crisis. Lovely people.
Hey guys. Happy Sunday. No 🧈? You would think with toast just put butter. In NY, if you don’t ask for napkins, condiments, straws etc; they don’t give it to you. An escalator? Wow. I thought the Icon was the 1st ship with escalators. We were on the Oasis last August and don’t remember escalators. 🤷🏻♀️. Perhaps my memory fails re: drink package 😂. When you’re saying it’s walkable, guess you’re speaking of the resort area you are in? I by tram found Labadee huge , not walkable and grateful for the tram🤷🏻♀️. That bobsled coaster looks so fun. Did not get a chance to do it last August. I should be counting how many times you said oh my gosh/God Ben😂😂😂😂😂😂. Wanted to see David’s experience as well. But $2400 for what? The cabana, water and lunch? 🤷🏻♀️. Flies? That’s why ppl line up in the other area to eat as soon as it opens to get to it freshly opened. They need the chafing dishes that have the lids that swivel open. I would complain and put it on the google reviews. Again. $2400 is an another cruise. We paid $2300 total for a 10 day with port fees & taxes for a balcony stateroom on the Oasis last August. Well thanks for sharing. 🤗
Only been to labadee twice but I've loved both visits. On our last visit we got a bungalow which is at least a third the price of a cabana with a lot of the same perks and I highly recommend doing that vs the cabana especially considering that you're not getting anything extra with the more expensive price tag.
25 years ago Labadie was a big place to eat, a place to get drinks, and Beach loungers with a few hammocks. There were some local tents for buying souvenirs. First place I ever snorkeled and so very very little.
Yes you can pick your cabana. It’s the most beautiful location. In a cabana you also have, or had, a bar person who came to serve you and your belongings were guarded
David, thank you for the best laugh I have had in awhile, the coaster ride was priceless. Going to keep this video for the next time I need a belly laugh! Thank you.
The coaster ride Brilliant 😂 omg 2,400 for the cabana but only some water nothing else 😮 thats just Outrageous ,you most definitely expect a lot more for that money ,fruit platter,cocktails/ non alcoholic drinks Lets hope the Cruse lines watch this do something a bit more fairer towards the price your paying for the cabana experience 🙏🤞. Great video have a Good week 🥰
We hired a cabana on Puerto Vallarta several years ago. It was on the beach, enclosed in lovely flowing curtains with comfy mattress and cushions. Included was morning snack (shrimp cocktail, veggie straws, cheeses, crackers and the drink of my choice), a massage, lunch and dinner. All brought to us by the attendant Marc. The grand total for the whole day was 100 pesos or (at that time) $35 ! The lap of luxury.
I really love your presentation of Labadee. From what I see here I think I prefer it better here than Coco Cay. I always watch the nickel and diming anywhere. I love sales and take advantage no matter where I shop. I like the complimentary buffet on the beach. Something about eating outdoors. Esp. barbecue. Food seems to taste a lot better. I like drink package as well. Yes I would do the ziplining, and Dragon's Coaster. I think taking advantage of shore excursions and land tours are great experiences. One doesn't get to do these every day. Beaches look absolutely inviting. I've never been to Labadee nor Coco Cay, but as I said I would choose the former. Hopefully one day Labadee will open again. I went on a cruise to Haiti years ago where we had land and bus tour with guide. The guide told us then to stick to the tour coz it's not safe. Must have been 25 years ago or more. Some things don't seem to change. Shame. Now I wish to go to Labadee in the future. Awesome vlog as usual. Thank you Ben and David. ❤
We really enjoy Labadee for its relaxing environment and screaming British tourists on the rollercoaster. 😂. Great review and wonderful drone footage and great editing. Thanks again guys for the fun…I Love your hat too

not happening lol
We've really enjoyed Labadee in the past. It's more natural and relaxing. Loved the zipline. Too bad about the poor Haitian people, what a terrible disaster, they can't catch a break.
"Ahh! This is horrendous! Ahhhhhhhh!! Oooohhhh!" Moments later. "That was fun best $24 you can spend on the island." LOL
😂
Prayers for Haiti 🇭🇹 🇭🇹🇭🇹🙏🏼 🙏🏼
For £2400 pounds for a cabana for a few hours, I would expect quality food and alcohol delivered. And it still seems OUTRAGEOUSLY expensive.
I got the same cabana for $1000, but yeah it is disappointing regarding the provisions.
Absolutely shameful how much they charged for that. I can’t believe people pay it when you get free sun loungers, umbrellas and the food and beach are exactly the same. For that price I would expect it to be fully catered, top notch food and drinks.
I can't believe people actually pay that for a cabana 😮
I would want a cruise for that price. Crazy money for a few hours in a cabana. Shameful!
I’ve always been put off by the cabana prices on all the cruises private resorts. For the money, just find a free lounge chair and umbrella.
i loved Labdee so much, the people were kind and friendly. they didn't speak much english but they understood the basic words like "bathroom" "food" and pointed to where it was.
I feel bad for the people who lost their jobs over this situation. When the powerful go to war, it is the ordinary people who suffer most.
Gangs have taken over
You crack me up every week without fail...You going down that coaster screaming "I haven't had enough food"!!! Then passing on the buffet...I laughed until I cried. I hope the cruise lines all watch your reviews. They would be very well informed in doing so.
I had an opportunity to visit in Jan 2023 with Royal Caribbean, it such a beautiful place. I was really overwhelmed. It was the only safe way to visit the country of my ancestors. I pray that it will find peace soon. 🙏🏾

Haiti has had serious unrest for decades, whatever made them decide to create this island excursion? Just bizarre.
Probably because the land was dirt cheap. Cruise lines are increasingly leaning into private islands over conventional port stops, because that allows them to keep your 💰 in-house.
Hatai has NEVER HAD A STABLE GOVERNMENT
@@StillPooh62Hati was unstable long before Cruising ever started
That's what I was thinking. I'm not a fan of vacationing anywhere that *needs* to have a barbed wire fence with armed guards to keep the locals out.
Yes, you must be extremely ignorant and oblivious to sufferance to enjoy yourself secluded from a place of misery just by a fence. Well, like they say: Ignorance is bliss - and at the end of the day, the essence of cruising 🤷♀

Thanks for being so balanced in your review! We went to Labadee a long time ago and it didn't have all the awesome bells and whistles
Ben that was the funniest thing ever!!!! I'll never see roller coasters the same way

Try Aruba, Bonaire or Curacao. All excellent, clean, safe ports.
Maybe one day, I will try a cruise. In the meantime, I will cruise through your wonderful videos. Love your channel. 😊 Nathalie from France.

Went to Labadee many years ago when the main attraction was banana boats and The Dragon's Breath spout

I think they let him ride free out of pity for him splashing $40 on that atrocious hat! 🤣
Watching Ben on that ride had me laughing so hard I was crying!😅
Nine minutes in and I both LOVE and LAUGH at your high tech new mapping feature! You fellas are just the best! Happy Cruising! ❤😂❤

By the looks of you Barbeque & mates would find you too stringy to eat. lol.
OMG, that mountain coaster footage was priceless!😂 We missed our one scheduled stop on account of mdw having come down with norvo, and so was confined to quarters. I was free to go, but I didn't want to leave her behind. I didn't really regret it at all. Glad you had fun!
Great review! Thank you for your honesty. We appreciate it greatly! Hoping for peace in Haiti❤.
That is terrible that the Cabanna cost so much money and the food was a sad offering and not even a rum punch included. 😱
Ben, you are hysterical! I laughed out loud throughout your trip on the rollercoaster.
Well, this brings back memories of sailing on Majesty of the Seas during her inaugural season and Labadee being canceled as a port of call at the last minute because of unrest -- and that was back in the '90s.
494 days till our very 1st cruise. Going to Alaska! Whoot whoot! Maybe y'all could book one too and we could meet our favorite celebrities. Lol
Maybe the after taste on the potato salad - is it was about to spoil. Been in the heat too long.
Yes, that is what I thought! 😮
Try soaking the corn cob in vodka.
First, don’t have to eat the free food offered in port
Second, RC asks you to not to carry fresh food on or off the ship.
Id like to see you do more budget cruises. Lots of suite videos recently, out of reach for majority
Marteen.
You guys are hilarious! Addicted to your channel, hello from Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 by the way!
Great video as always. It is a shame you didn't walk back through the shops. It can be quite terrifying being accosted by the locals trying to take your money.
Ben on the roller coaster is everything ❤
I’m dying here Ben!! 😂😂😂 That was a humongous bacon and egg sandwich! But it looked delicious!!
David’s shirt is the stuff of dreams! 😫😫😫
Loved your ride Ben .. I was laughing so hard 😂😂😂. The price for cabanas is truly nuts .. I realize on holidays, but …
Thanks for the trip report .. always enjoying them.
My Sunday Obsession! ❤❤
I was on Oasis of the Seas on a holiday sailing in 2010, and we were in Labadee on Christmas Day, I saw Santa zip lining on that huge zip line over the beach!
Nearly wet me sen when Ben was flying down the coaster lol 😂 well done Ben you legend!!! Labadee looks lovely!
Thank you💖💖
For a minute there i thought you said that cabana was £2400.00 for a few hours😯!!! I would keep that one quiet even if i could afford it!! x
I watch you guys and dream of trips like this with my fiancé (husband in just a few short months now) and future kids ❤
Thank you.
That was Ben screaming on the coaster ride, not David. 😁
The coaster ride Brilliant 😂 omg 2,400 for the cabana but only some water nothing else 😮 thats just
Outrageous ,you most definitely expect a lot more for that money ,fruit platter,cocktails/ non alcoholic drinks
Lets hope the Cruse lines watch this do something a bit more fairer towards the price your paying for the cabana experience 🙏🤞.
Great video have a Good week 🥰
Wow! a simple fan over the food will keep the flies OFF. Jeez. YIKE>
Thank you for sharing all the fun! Sweet cabana 🙂
Valeu!
Thanks for the video and glad you are doing your family history!
It has been so fun!
We really enjoy Labadee for its relaxing environment and screaming British tourists on the rollercoaster. 😂. Great review and wonderful drone footage and great editing. Thanks again guys for the fun…I Love your hat too
Oh my gosh you two are the best. Still laughing. Love you two thank you so much for the heritage information
