I really hope it was an old spice on those biscuits with crab meat you had please tell me it was old bay because old spice is perfume. Old bay is crab seasoning, though JO is better. I prefer my own old bay is practically salt and cayenne pepper. I've been making spices in eating all that having crabs since I was so young I'm from Maryland born and raise the home of old bay. Maryland crab is the best Maryland crab soup, Maryland crab everything anything with old bay is Maryland crab.
A family member who is a nurse practitioner, saved a man’s life when someone fell on the ice and the person behind him couldn’t stop and sliced one of his arteries while trying to jump over him. She was able to stem the flow until emergency services arrived, but it was traumatizing. So David, your freaking out over the blades is not far-fetched. They can be dangerous.
The problem with some of the Caribbean ports is the deprivation. Some of the areas that cruise ships dock in are really beautiful but are all for tourists and not the actual residents. When we were on Freedom of the seas we docked at Kingston in Jamaica and it was beautiful, but when we were leaving we seen the kids on the rooftops begging for food, just feet away from Diamond shops and tourists spending thousands on jewels... It really made me rethink my priorities in life
When the children in Roatan asked me for a dollar, 4 children asking me for money. I felt bad but had non intention of shelling out money at that excursion. smh I guess they learn to hustle and hassle real young on these islands.
I get what you are saying, but if tourist didn't come to the islands, would any of those people's lives be better for it. Maybe? or does the tourism supply some of them jobs, opportunities, etc. I know it's hard to see some of that stuff, but if I wouldn't be able to function if I had to worry about every thing/every body else in the world. I'm allowed some happiness.
Can I just say on behalf of my wife and I, a very, very big thank you for taking Stef under your wing on this cruise. To see her laughing so much during a very tough time is so heartwarming. Thank you Ben and David, you are THE BEST.
Just want to tell you guys........you are good people! Your fun, honest, adventurous....and have big hearts. Such a pleasure to watch you as I vicariously live through you all at this time in cruising. Take care....happy travels!
Another hit. Every night when its time to relax i put a few episodes of Cruising with Ben and David on and enjoy a few good laughs. Laughter has helped my mother and i get through a very tough year. Thank you Ben & David.
Had no problems walking around Nassau port area as a solo female cruiser. Took normal precautions of wearing a money belt and anti theft waist pack, which I wear anywhere including the US. I recommend visiting the Pompey Museum of Slavery and Emancipation to get the history of what colonialism and exploitation has done to the Caribbean islands. It’s right there in the downtown area and costs just a few dollars. Many atrocities have been hidden out of sight from the American and British public all these years.
The word “deviled” is a culinary term that means “adding spices” - usually hot ones like cayenne pepper, Dijon mustard, or chopped chili peppers - to foods like ham, eggs, turkey, or even lobster.
I always look forward to Sundays because I know they'll be a new vlog from Ben & David. I've cruised into Nassau as well as flown in to stay for several days. Flying in really gives you a true taste of the island, and it's absolutely wonderful. Since tourism is very important to their economy, I have to wonder if the uptick in people bothering you to buy, buy, buy has to do with the hard times people experienced during covid. Just a thought. Meanwhile, I loved your first experience with southern food especially the deviled eggs and the deep fried Oreos. Your description of all the food never fails to put a big smile on my face. Thank you for another very well done vlog!
My only comment would I been going to Nassau for about 15 years and I feel bad for the people in Nassau that they are struggling, but constantly being harassed has been going on way before Covid, the city really needs to do something about it , such a beautiful island !.
The first time we were in nassau...we thought we'd walk to some touristy place after walking around the straw market and about half way to our destination the police stopped us and told us to hop on the nearest city bus back to the port as we were entering a dangerous neighborhood. We did as suggested and at lunch back at the ship and took a taxi to Atlantis to look around but I'd say I have absolutely no urge to return.
Lived in Nassau for 6 years (we did mission work on the south side of the island) and spent a LOT of time at the port/downtown area with mission teams. That resort that they just built makes me so sad. (Chinese built---long story behind that...so sad for the Bahamian people). Anyway, yes it is a dangerous port. As for the port building, when we first moved there, the old port building was being used but closed about a year after we arrived. It has not been opened since..true to Bahamian fashion (takes forever to get things done). Anyway, it was fun seeing your video of Nassau since I am very familiar with that area. :-)
I must agree with you....I think this big resorts are taking away from the Bahamian people. I used to love the straw Market before it caught fire years ago. I cried from Miami, seeing that area burnt down. It took a long time to rebuilt. Really I never felt affraid walking on the Main Street and shopping....Thanks Ben and David for a new look at Nassau that I have never seen....it was so much fun...
You two made my day, again! I laughed till I almost cried. You both so funny, naturally, and your dialogue is perfect. Ben's one liners are classic, and David adds his own character flair with a smile that matches Ben's wit. Very informative and honest. And yes, Ben's Mum, is a joy in so many ways. Bravo! As one who has no family, you both make my RUclips visits meaningful. I will probably take the next cruise alone but hope to find amazing personalities on the ship like you two. Thanks for all you do, for all of us!
When I went through the Nassau port, the only time we were bothered was just as we came out of the port area, after we started walking down the street no one bothered us and we were a few girls. I wouldn't hesitate to walk there by myself. Like you said just be aware.
This is a great video. We are going on our first cruise later this year. It's a little different, it's a metal festival on a ship. We are stopping at Nassau so watching this has been really helpful. I have to say I discovered your videos a couple of days ago and both me and my husband are loving them. You are very informative and entertaining. I get the feeling we might go on more cruises in the future. I'm looking forward to watching more of your videos. 😊
Our next door neighbour, John, here in Canada (he's from the UK) runs Pirate Jeep Tours in Nassau! Only 3 hour commitment for a private tour! He runs them himself with a few locals.
Thanks for the always honest reviews. We love when we get to see you experience new things. As usual, an awesome video. Always look forward to Sundays for this reason 😍
I went to the Port of Nassau during a Disney Cruise I took when I was 12 (literally the only cruise I've ever been on.) We walked around for a few minutes and turned right back to the ship. Seemed dangerous and sketchy, gave me a bad taste in my mouth. Its unfortunate being that it was my first and only cruise to date. :(
Margaritaville looks absolutely marvelous!! I was in Nassau last month and was very sad about how beat up the port area including the main shopping Bay Street looked. With the new construction plans going on I really hope they do a facelift to Bay Street and some of the side streets nearby as well. It really was unimpressive right now I’m sad to say.
I know I am in the minority because I love Nassau. Tons of amazing excursions and if you stay on the main road down to S Frogs you are usually good. Yep you have to say NO about a million times but otherwise . We visited a local dog rescue and adopted two dogs from them! We have made lifelong friends and cherish our time in Nassau!
Thanks so much - $59 for a resort day is lovely. And your reactions to Southern US food was so nice. Fried green tomatoes with crabmeat layered in is another fantastic treat for you to try someday.
We have been to Nassau several times and it can be a dodgy place, one of those places you never keep anything in your pockets and don’t get in any crowds where people are close enough to touch you. It’s sad because the Atlantis resort on Paradise Island is very pretty and has an amazing aquarium. As always love your videos and you guys. I get so excited every Sunday because I know that’s when you post! Yes my life is a bit boring, the weather here isn’t the best yet. But even in the best weather I still look forward to seeing you guys. Are you doing anymore cruises with your family in the near future?? They were really fun to watch too. Thanks guys for all your hard work! Happy Cruising!!!
Enjoyed myself during port day in Nassau this past fall. I love historical sites so I went off beaten path and took walk to Fort Charlotte. Met a local who was on his lunch break and he showed me the way. We had great conversation about us going to rival universities (Ohio State and Michigan). Picked up a coconut from a street vendor and got some conch fritters. The Fort was closed but I still explored the grounds and got to talk to some interesting people.
Your shipboard commentary with the skating and breakfast were the best! I’d missed my coffee today, and your humor and tour of the skating and Central Park area of the ship helped!
Hi I just subscribed. You guys are a great team so much information. really appreciate your videos and reviews of places to eat and things to do. keep up the great work and please stay Healthy. We live in Puerto Rico and loved your video of your visit. Loved the RUM !
Great video, everything in that restaurant looked delicious. Agree about Nassau, horrible experience when we were there, constant harassment and we didn’t feel safe, and this was during the day. I don’t know if they still have the straw market by the Atlantis but we had a guy chase us because we didn’t buy something from him. Terrifying!
Thanks for the preview of the Mason Jar. We are scheduled for the TA on the Wonder in about two weeks. We are from Georgia, so Mason Jar will have a high bar to clear (we grew up on grits and fried green tomatoes), but I am sure that we will enjoy it. Thanks again.
Somehow missed this review of Wonder when it came out. Playing catch up. That Mason Jar restaurant looks wonderful with super fun ambience! My daughter and I dined in Hooked on Symphony right after covid and the ship was maybe 1/2 full so service was great. And we loved it. I dont do much seafood but found some nice selections and she was in heaven. Maybe we got lucky cuz of fewer folks sailing, but was disappointed to see how your dinner turned out! It's a pricey specialty restaurant! Thx again for all your great reviews and so lovely to see Stef as well!
We have been to Nassau on many of our cruises and we love it. We've done something different almost every time. We love the market and walking around the town and we've tried conch fritters at local bars and enjoy all the shopping. We did an history Nassau bus tour once that ended with a rum factory tour. I don't understand why people say it's a terrible port. But we saw another cruise blogger spend the day at Margaritaville and are looking forward to going there on our next tour that goes to Nassau. Thanks for this! I love watching you guys!
As a native of the American South, it was hilarious and so much fun to watch you both try Southern American foods! Watching you sample things that are so commonplace to me with such curiosity and uncertainty is delightful!!
I really didn’t mind Nassau. It was the first port I ever visited on my first cruise in 2017. My partner and I just said, “No thanks,” to the folks selling stuff or offering rides and weren’t bothered further. We walked down the main road outside the port to Junkanoo beach that looks towards the port, and spent several hours there in some amazing water. We also tried Pirate Republic Brewing which was awesome.
Margaritaville Nassau is certainly the best bang for the buck there! Was on the Carnival Spirit when your ship came in! Quite impressive the Wonder of the Seas is! Wanted to hang around the pier until y'all started coming ashore, but, had to get back to the Spirit, onboard time and all that stuff(also kind of didn't want to appear as a 'stalker')LOL...
Wonderful seeing this vid, Im doing Wonder of the Seas in April but not to Nassau, its a Western Caribbean sailing, but I appreciate the objective assessment, I feel like some people get caught up in the excitement of a new place and tend to not look at it objectively. Thanks for the amazing review and vid!
Thanks for another great video and your honest opinion of Nassau. I have been there quite a number of times and we always strolled along but "thanking" vendors along the way. We do leave on May 1 back down again and deciding if we should take an excursion to Pearl Island (thru the ship) or take a quick walk down to Margaritaville which I have been watching videos on - Ben! You plunged with your glasses on!.........looks like a lot of fun. Happy to see that Stef was enjoying herself too!.....looking forward to your next one! Safe travels/Kathleen/NJ.
Wow! One of my last cruises, pre-COVID, was on the Carnival Sunshine, with a stop in Nassau. I was with a first-time cruiser, but I have been to Nassau many times. This was December 2019, pre-Margaritaville, but we still found lots to do and had a wonderful time! Yes, vendors can be aggressive. But we've never had any real trouble and we've walked everywhere. Our favorite place to spend the day is Cabbage Beach, which is free. I know Nassau is not "new" and fancy (although the Margaritaville Resort certainly changes things), but I've been to ports that are far less enjoyable with far less to offer (La Romana, I'm talking to you!). So glad you had a good time, even if you didn't get out and explore. Frankly, I'm looking forward to visiting the resort next time I visit!
We did the Atlantis excursion 4 years ago and the beach and water was beautiful! We had a fantastic time. Good to know about the Margaritaville excursion though!!
Hi guys! This is probably my very favorite video ever. Informative and FUN! I would have loved to be the person sitting next to you all while you were reviewing your dinner. It was as entertaining as the shows, maybe better. 😀 Take care and thanks for your incredible hard work and time putting these videos together for us.
Bless my soul, Ben is on a roll! Love those Ben-isms! Always a great day when your videos come out! And love your honest views of Nassau- nice to know that there is a good alternative to the Atlantis beach resort.
Great overview of some new options available in Nassau. Also, the Mason Jar restaurant looks like they have an amazing menu. I'm not sure how the two of you actually ate all of those items, but they looked delicious. A definite visit for me when I'm on Royal Caribbean. Cheers mates 🥂
I've never had a truly bad experience in a Caribbean port (been to roughly a dozen). There's always a lot to do and the beaches are truly beautiful. I would choose them over Central American or Mexican cruise ports 10 times out of 10.
I've visiting Nassau since the 90s. The Govt keeps redeveloping/repainting the port area, but the area has been struggling. Thanks for the preview of the Water Park. 👍
My wife and I enjoy all your videos, Ben and David. We also went to the Margaritaville Beach Resort a month ago when our ship docked there. We enjoyed the time there. That was the only place we had time to visit that day.
Exquisite skating skills Ben! David you were so cute! I loved the Mason Jar!! I’ve never had a savory beneigh. Looked delicious! Shrimp and grits are my favorite! Thank you as always for making my day! ☺️💕
We sailed Mary 18-25 wonder of the seas! It’s so much fun inside the ship! From st.Maarten to st.Thomas and cococay! Shout out to all the crews of the wonder of the seas, especially to all the Filipino servers in wyndjammer and main dining.thank you for updating.hope to see you soon in your future cruises in royal carribean! 👍😊
B & D, really enjoy your videos! We are HUGE anglophiles and watch British and other foreign shows exclusively. In our first cruise since COVID, we were in Nassau for the first time March 30, 2022. Glad I did not believe the haters and got off the ship and did my own walking tour. Get away from the port! That area is chaos. Queen's Staircase, Fort Fincastle, Parliament Houses and churches were wonderful with many friendly natives. We only approached well dressed and older people for info.
I was in Nassau a couple weeks ago and obviously the construction along the port is pretty comprehensive but it's supposed to bring more shopping and restaurants and all when it's done. I was on a NCL ship and went on the ship sponsored sail and snorkel and very much enjoyed it. My next trip to Nassau, I'm just planning to wander around but I've spent a week or so at a time in Nassau since the late 1970s so it's been very interesting to see all of the changes there. There were six ships in port when I was there recently and it was fun watching the reaction of the tour guide to seeing so many people get off the ships you could tell it had been a while since they had that many people in Port. Because I've been going there for so long? I really do like the Bahamian people and feel like they have adopted me as well.
Oh my. We have been 4 times and it is quite interesting. We are doing a “swimming with the pigs” excursion on our cruise in June. We try to just walk through and not get to close to anyone. Definitely an interesting port.
I’m really digging Ben’s new shoes, so subtle, like a German jazz band and David’s multicolored shirt is tres cool. You guys looked great at the Mason Jar restaurant !!
On one cruise I took, we landed in Nassau. We got off the ship, did a bit of shopping in the area near the ship and then went back and spent the day on the ship. People in our group that ventured out further came back disappointed with their experience. Was the only port I've been too that if I ever went back I wouldn't even bother getting off the ship.
I always look forward to your new vlogs. I watch them while my mom is in cardiacs rehab. Keeps me smiling. I wish I could cruise without a mask but that won’t happen for me for awhile. Immune compromised people are just trying to stay safe still. Ugh.
I must not look like a worthwhile target in Nassau because no one bothered us at all. Any contact with people we had was wonderful...and honestly no one even asked us about tours or anything haha.
Enjoyed seeing you two try southern dishes for first time! 😊Was that selection mostly on the RC Wonder of the Seas ship? I want to try a cruise, but as a cook and native of southern Louisiana, I am thinking most cruise ship food would be bland for my taste. However, even this foodie has never eaten fried Oreos! That is super decadent!
St Thomas in Feb, we were told we may not want to go into town as many business closed, not the same. Well how can it come back without people spending $ there? So we went, supported a local bar which made us very happy (LOL) and a woman who was selling sweatshirts didn’t have my size accessible but thought she had one somewhere, 2 hours later we went back & she had dug thru her van & had it waiting for me! I didn’t even barter, happy she found one! Bombarded with people trying to sell beach space was not over whelming. Oh, drinks in port far better than on board, you can taste the booze!
Fantastic episode gentlemen! Y’all are my fave cruise vloggers on YT! Glad you enjoyed Southern fare mmm. You can say grits are loose polenta 😊 I love em.
Im so jealous of the shrimp and grits. That mason jar restaurant looked phenomenal. Might need to go down the street to the diner and get some good southern food here in Tennessee tonight 😘
I’m so hungry looking at all this southern food and watching y’all try it! Shrimp and grits…..my favorite! Also fried green tomatoes, pimento cheese, deviled eggs….I think I have too many favorites!
@@cjsweeting7 They started out on a negative note because of what they were told but ended up being quite pleased with their visit and stated "a port is what you make it". Leaving me to take it as a positive review. IMO.
@@cjsweeting7 I was born in Nassau but don't live there anymore. My last visit to Nassau (Bay Street) left a horrible taste in my mouth. I had to reprimand a young man trying to sell dope to the cruise passengers. I hope it has cleaned up over the years.
I have been to Nassau many times, it’s great! You’ve got Margaritaville, Atlantis, welcoming natives, gorgeous sites. I’ve always had a blast there!🤩🤩🤩❤️👍👍👍 Be careful in every port😎
I liked Nassau ( I think if you've been brought up in the UK we've all seen far more sketchy places!) I recommend take a taxi bus over to Atlantis - the aquarium is really good and just sitting at the outdoor bar in the middle of the resort was lovely way to spend a couple of hours with a frozen daiquiri or two :)

Paradise Island has better shopping and more policing, but you have to cross the bridge or ferry to it.
Was that real ice or the fake kind?? We tried the fake one at a santa village and it was not very smoth. Thought i was going to break a leg. 🚢🏖

Sure AF doesn't put me off! I love cruising!! The bigger the ship the better!!
Blame their corrupt local governments.
@Kevin Temerowski
Well, that's a very simplistic view.
I get what you are saying, but if tourist didn't come to the islands, would any of those people's lives be better for it. Maybe? or does the tourism supply some of them jobs, opportunities, etc.

Right, these "deviled" dishes are of Portuguese origin

I had a similar experience with Nassau in January, the constant hassling takes the joy out of being there.

How did you get them back home?
I'm sending Ben back to watch at least 400 hours of 70s-80s TV to get his tv references correct! Love you boys!

😂😂😂 love your remarks when you eat your food Brilliant 😜
Mason jar looked stunning and the food you had omg. Yum yum 😋
Have a Great week 🥰
I flipping love your videos with food reviews! Glad to see you avoided the ‘country gravy’ in The Mason Jar, that stuff just fills me with dread!

Love David as the "Weather Forecaster!!"😃❤😃
As a native of the American South, it was hilarious and so much fun to watch you both try Southern American foods! Watching you sample things that are so commonplace to me with such curiosity and uncertainty is delightful!!
I agree! I love these guys.
I love watching you guys. I’ve never been on a cruise but I like watching you two joke around, always a good laugh… and it is interesting to watch😊
“Well slap my bum and call me Judy”🤣 I can’t even with all of Ben’s sayings!!🤣🤣🤣❤️
That was such fun, but it’s dinner time now and I’m envious of your Mason Jar feast.
Thank you for being both honest and respectful.
I absolutely love shrimp and grits. The grits are actually the same as polenta or cornmeal mush. Made from ground cornmeal.
Nassau is amazing! I go there a million times just to go to Nassau. There's Fish Fry, the stairs, a wonderful brew bar, and more. So safe, too!
Did they have the quick-change clothes magic skating show there? We saw it one the Mariner Of The Seas and it was amazing!
Y'all are so fun!! I really enjoyed your reviews!! Thank you!!
I’m really digging Ben’s new shoes, so subtle, like a German jazz band and David’s multicolored shirt is tres cool. You guys looked great at the Mason Jar restaurant !!
Love you both. Wonderful sense of humour. Never been on a cruise, I want to, so learning from you two.
Ugh.
This video was great but nothing beats Ben's sparkly shoes!!! Love them!!!🌈🌈🌟🌟🌟💖
That was a great video. Enjoyed every minute of it. Thanks for sharing.😎
Ben….loved your rainbow shoes…I told my husband (in another room) that I was leaving him to be with Ben and David…haha
There so cute! 😍 I wonder if they have sizes for girls? 🤔
Loved seeing the peeks of a smiling Stef. ❤️ The resort looks amazing!
You guys are hilarious... I feel like I need to go on a diet just watching you guys eat all that food...Thanks for the great videos.
I really love how you discribe food, and also your trip thank you.
Really nice video. Lots of great info. Your dinner looked really good. Thanks and take care.
Thank you gents!!! Really enjoying your videos as a fellow cruise lover!!!
I must not look like a worthwhile target in Nassau because no one bothered us at all. Any contact with people we had was wonderful...and honestly no one even asked us about tours or anything haha.
Exactly, I have been these so many times alone. Walked everywhere.
fried green tomatoes at the whistle stop cafe. Kathy Bates. One of my favourite films
Love you guys. Just a thing...good night John Boy was from a show called Walton's.
Grits are like polenta
Enjoyed seeing you two try southern dishes for first time! 😊Was that selection mostly on the RC Wonder of the Seas ship? I want to try a cruise, but as a cook and native of southern Louisiana, I am thinking most cruise ship food would be bland for my taste. However, even this foodie has never eaten fried Oreos! That is super decadent!
It appears the daily charge is now $110 plus tax!
I can remember some great visits Nassau. The straw markewas great for hand carved items. Winston is one of the local artists. Fabulous.
Im so jealous of the shrimp and grits. That mason jar restaurant looked phenomenal. Might need to go down the street to the diner and get some good southern food here in Tennessee tonight 😘
Loved your video and always really appreciate your very honest comments.
That straw made me LOL for about 10 minutes. Thanks for that!
Love your vlogs, so informative!
I’m so hungry looking at all this southern food and watching y’all try it! Shrimp and grits…..my favorite! Also fried green tomatoes, pimento cheese, deviled eggs….I think I have too many favorites!
"Well slap my bum and call me Judy!" 🤣🤣love it!
Ben says: Slap ‘me bum and call me Judy!!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
242 in the house. Thank you for your positive review of Nassau. A port is truly what you make it being an avid cruiser myself.
Another 242 in the house, they didn't give a positive review of Nassau..listen to them carefully.
@@evelynmckenzie5269 because they are dope users duh
@@ardeburrows2050 we still on this topic?
Thank you, again, for your videos and awesome humor!! 🌹🌹
I have been to Nassau many times, it’s great! You’ve got Margaritaville, Atlantis, welcoming natives, gorgeous sites. I’ve always had a blast there!🤩🤩🤩❤️👍👍👍 Be careful in every port😎
Great video again, thank's for the both of you🙏👍
Visited once in nassau on our NCL gem cruise, Atlantis palace, etc... We had fun
