Thank you, I would have been denied prior to turning 55 because of lack of medical evidence. Most of my diagnosis are in the mild to moderate stage and are not severe. The approval came with the grid rules for 55+ to include physical and mental disabilities with no improvement expected. Although, it is interesting that a doctor they sent me too; SSA claims, overemphasized my condition. I assume due to lack of other evidence. I guess I’m not as disabled as the doctor SSA contracts with thinks I am. Interesting, because if I have to be that disabled to get an approval for a medical condition then I probably need a legal guardian. The doctor said he didn’t recommend me handling my own finances and that my condition was marked but yet, a denial was going to be given.
My husband has been diagnosed with severe ptsd and he has filed for disability. We have a disability lawyer working on his case now. It's to early to tell if he gets it.
This has been one of the most helpful videos of yours I have watched. I’m 57. Different mental and physical issues. I’ve got my initial SSDI phone interview on Tuesday. But I didn’t realize a lot of the things you said in this video. Especially the journaling. Thank you for this video.
It is easier to get approved at age 60, especially with a long work history, because Social Security thinks you wouldn't stop working for a minor reason. Here's a good video by Social Security Disability attorney Jonathan Ginsberg on the Grid Rules: ruclips.net/video/s0p04bOpe70/видео.html
That may qualify, especially if the oxygen is needed 24 hours a day. Here's a link to the Listing: www.ssa.gov/disability/professionals/bluebook/3.00-Respiratory-Adult.htm#3_02 It will help if you've had the following tests done recently, and can send them to Social Security: 1. arterial blood gas 2. pulmonary function tests 3. chest X-ray
What if you have a communication disorder? (Which goes along with my other disabilities) It’s very obvious with my paperwork that I’m having trouble getting my point across.
For serious communication disorders I recommend having a friend or relative assist you, and be sure to describe your problems communicating. This applies to both filling out paperwork and if you are scheduled for a disability exam. However, if you have an exam, don't let the other person do ALL the talking for you - the doctor needs to experience your problems communicating.
I want work so bad but the pain of arachnoiditis is so painful. I still work I don’t want give it up . I would feel to much shame if I had stop working
Stage IV lung cancer qualifies for Social Security Disability as a TERI case - if you apply, be sure to notify them it is a TERI case, you will go to the front of the line for expedited approval. Link: secure.ssa.gov/poms.nsf/lnx/0423020045
Thank you for all of your great advice. I've watched several of your videos many times and have even taken notes.
You're very welcome. If you have any questions or suggestions for videos please let me know

Ditto 😢
That's interesting. I've never heard of Social Security going against one of their CE doctor's opinions. You are correct about grid rules and age 55+
Thanks for the information I am currently battling for my disability and this was extremely helpful and I appreciate it so much thank you

Doctor, how do the grid rules affect 60 year old applicants with a 30-year full time work history regarding entry-level jobs?
