  • 'A Pilgrim's Way: A Search in Sacred Romania' (PART 1 / 8)
    A film by Mironel de Wilde
    SYNOPSIS:
    'On a journey in search of faith and the truth of my heart, I go on a pilgrimage from Canada to Romania, Eastern Europe, to visit the world of Orthodox Christianity, to ask questions about the roots of our religious and philosophical heritage and find out if Christianity still has a living spiritual dimension.
    The journey takes me to Bucharest to meet people with spiritual insights into the meaning of Christ's teachings. I go to Putna Monastery, near the Ukrainian border for immersion into monastic life, then on to visit some of the greatest elders of the church and I hear first hand where the Christian path can lead me.'
    Written and directed by Mironel de Wilde
    Cinematography and Sound by Jacob de Wilde

    We Protestants have a lot to learn. I thank God that our brothers and sisters in Orthodoxy are still around to enlighten those who are willing to listen.

    Its a good feeling to know that there are films out there like this one to both reaffirm my faith in God and also give others who are unaware of what Orthodoxy even is, a chance to see our faith in action. God Bless those who produce such films. I greatly appreciate it!

    I have been a member of the St. Philip's Prayer Discipline of the Antiochian Orthodox Church for half a year now. So, I am in the learning process. Due to my pastoral responsibilities as a Baptist, I am not in a position to instantly convert. But, I do follow the fasting rules and I pray the hours. When it is time for me to become a convert, God will make a way for me.

    As one indoctrinated by western theology (but then becoming Orthodox), I can say that beyond Orthodoxy's historical veracity etc. etc., is a much simpler position: we in the west treat Christian faith as a 'moralism', whereas Orthodoxy treats the faith as a (true) 'mysticism'.
    In this sense, it points to the 'experience' of the 'Uncreated' (thus, perfect) love of God. This, I believe, is what many post-modern 'seekers' are ultimately looking for - love. It is truly wonderful!

    The perspective has shifted in Rome. Many innovations. Quite a few changes to The Liturgy, change the sign of cross to opposite side. The list goes on...
    We observe our own Patriarchs (Popes) but not in the place of Christ Jesus on earth. Christ needs no vicar!

    Dear Jay.
    Forgive me.
    As you say God will reveal his purpose to you and those with whom you share your journey, when all is ready.
    May Christ Our True God bless you and Saint John Maximovich of San Francisco and all the saints pray for you.

    Yes, that would definitely be contradictory, and the sayings of the Church fathers were probably based on similar pagan theories of that time. But the idea of evolution by natural selection does not threaten our faith and the Orthodox Church has no reason to fear scientific discoveries. Nice talking to you - I am your "sis" btw :P

    Please note that the Alexandrian Pope is not the Orthodox equivalent to the Pope of Rome. Pope just means father.

    It depends what kind of evolution you are talking about. As long as the theory of evolution does not reject the notion of God as Creator, it is possible.

    Excuse me, Orthodoxy is the first true apostolic church founded by the saints and apostles. Catholicism split from the true church in 1054 AD, however we Orthodox have remained on the same course, our religion unchanged for more than 2000 years. And then Protestantism was a new branch of Christianity that sprang up from Catholicism. As time goes by, Christians go further away from the one, true, Church.

      Since 1965 it is important to note that only Old Calendar Orthodoxy has kept the one true Way of Christ. Since the 1960’s Lifting of the Anathemas of 1054 the Orthodox and Catholics are one.

    Maybe you should read more about the Orthodox Church. Just because you are Romanian doesn't mean you have 100% knowledge of the Orthodox Church. It is possible to accept both evolution and the Church.

    wasent that a celtic pagan cross?

    • @fiona9088
      @fiona9088 4 года назад

      The Celtics, though once pagan, were Christians who had a distinct cross, as did the Russians, Greeks etc. it is representative of how the Son transformed the Holy Cross by His Crucifixion.

    Orthodox Christianity is not religion. It is Ecclesia, meaning the summoning or the gathering of Christ's followers. All the others are religions.

  • @katherine3486

    Come Home. Orthodoxy is the original Faith imparted by Christ to The Apostles (did you know there were originally 228 in Christ's own lifetime!)

  • @pathfinderrob
    @pathfinderrob 11 лет назад

    There is no such thing as a Celtic 'pagan' Cross - there are only Christian (Celtic) Crosses, some being 'paganized' to mislead others. I know of which I speak. The 'Celtic Church' - dismissed by academia - the Christian church which existed in the Celtic lands between the late 4th century/early 5th century (Patrick came in 433 AD), and existed until the 11th/12th centuries, as the Normans invaded (destroying the Celtic monastic system) and 'Saint' Malachy opened the door to Roman Catholicism.
