Jaguar X-type airbox mod

Today I publish a long awaited video about Jaguar X-type airbox modifications, some X-type owners do to their Jags. Stage One: removing the ribbing from the inner side of the airbox lid. Stage Two: making a hole in the front end of the airbox next to the OEM trumpets. Both modifications are aimed at improving the airflow, which can add to the engine performance. The gain is insignificant, up to 5 HP. The sound of intake becomes more noticeable, the hup-hup-hup noises (if any) become more distinct. Nevertheless I tried and did these mod to my X-type airbox. I am fond of experiments, you know.
And if you watch this video to the end you will find a handy tip. I will tell you where in the engine bay you can get for free a spare airbox bushing (mounting plug), even two pieces of them.

Many thanks! I will keep them coming. As for the airbox mod, I believe it added a bit to the engine performance when driving on a motorway - the fresh air enters the intake easier.

I’ve had 2 of these, I absolutely love them! Better driving than any of my 3-series. I just wish they weren’t so old already… be careful adding HP, your gearbox won’t handle it. This is why the X Type R project was shelved.

Great mod, I did this when I got my X Type. I also deleted (straight pipe) the resonator and replaced the stock mufflers with MagnaFlows. If you're going to mod for more air in, it makes sense to consider more air out as well. Good vids Roman!

Salut, j aime bien ta vidéo,
L idée est bonne, plus d air , plus de puissance.
Avec ce trou l air qui rentre est obligatoirement plus chaud que ce qui rentre par les cornets.
Ne serait il pas plus efficace d aller chercher l air au dehors avec un cornet?
Moi aussi je cherche des astuces pour avoir de meilleurs performances avec mon x type 2.5l.
Je vais aussi tenter une modification de la boîte à air en refroidissant l air dans la boîte à l aide d une pile pelletier.
Je partagerai mon expérience prochainement.

Thank you for watching my videos! I have seen a video on RUclips about installing a cone type air filter - that guy measured and compared air temperature outside the radiator and inside the engine bay of his Jaguar X-type. As far as I remember the air inside is warmer only when the car is standing still, but the air temperature is nearly the same outside the radiator and inside the bay when the car is driving. By the way I don't refuse adding a third horn in the future as I have mentioned in my video. As for your experience, I am looking forward to seeing the results of it! Good luck!
