Agreed. I've used the beat jump function to jump back or forward a few beats when I've missed my cue point. You can also use the beat jump function to build hype out of a mistake. Just have to practice doing it.
when i’m playing bollywood, since most of the songs have recognizable intros, i try to avoid mixing and mainly echo out and cue/scratch drop songs in and it’s worked so far at my gigs
Hey mate, super useful video as always! Just a quick request, could you do a video about song selection while playing live? I've got a huge gig coming up in December and I want to make sure I smash it and make the dance floor happy! (please go over things like: How to read a crowd, how to choose the next song based on what the crowd is doing/feeling, what to do if no one is dancing and things like that!)
Damn Bro. I really got a playlist with damn near half of your videos🤣. I legit have learnt basics from you my guy I would love to send you videos of what I can do from what you been teaching 🤣shoutout from LDN 🇬🇧
I often mix in songs too early because my timing isn't quite there yet.. Most of the time I would just let it be and hope it doesn't sound too bad. Thanks for sharing this trick! It really helps me out man. Thank you for making video's like this, I hope you will continue making these kind of video's as it helps me and other people so much!
I mostly can't use your tricks as I'm mostly into loooong mixes without effects and don't like using cue points because I have the time not to, but the loop tip is GREAT!
Logic and Ableton imo are the best DAWs, I've recently made music in ableton myself, give it a try. Once agin, smashed it with the great video. Very informative, well done.
In melodic sections I find that a two or even for bar loops fit better into the phrasing of the mix. A one bar loop usually sounds awkward in melodic sections
Hi Master it's been a long time i didn't get a chance to watch your Vids...because i have been bisy for a while...as always damn....those transitions are really very very very helpful...thank you onc again..cheers👍👍
Great vid DJ Carlo! Can also put the playing track on a 16 beat loop when the 2nd track is slow, if you forgot to que in time or track will not load. Instead of sweating trying to pull a track @ the last gasp, Suddenly you have all the time in the world!
My favorite is the 2nd one ! I started to laugh ! You just have to 4loop the next or the currently song that you play. It's fantastic, thanks for your trick! I definitely will watch all your video, you explain good it's easy to understand you ! ✌🏼😌Thanks alot!
Which setting is better? 1. Press a hot cue, then music starts from the cue point 2. Music is played while pressing a hot cue from the cue point, like 1:25
Hi Carlo...thanks for all ur tutorials....I'd like to ask if u could do a tutorial on how to play hip hop tracks ,new school like Lil pump , migos drake,etc...be coz there is a huge BPM difference....thank u
Scenario #2 because I cant relate to it. 🙈 Its happened to me a few times already and when it does I feel so bad it don't enjoy my set because I'm afraid to make the mistake again. Defiantly gonna try this trick.😁
tricks 2 & 3 I use often, but if I mix to late or early sometimes I'll loop it but most of the time I tap the cue point and loop the other track to do it since I put a cue point at the 1st bar of a phrase and one on the half of phrase.
i have been adding loop points into end of songs in the event I can't get the next track ready in time, I can loop till I am ready to slowly mix in the new track. I prep using Traktor.
For trick #2, I just beat jump. In fact, I have two knobs on my midi controller to adjust the jump size and direction. It's also been helpful when I need to mix in a new song hella last minute and need to quickly jump to just the right moment to mix out of the chorus.
Personally I always choose what song I'm gonna next before I mix I only improvise when I'm practicing. Even if your good at DJing never stop practicing, there's always something new to learn everyday
Hi Carlos... Well done... Great trick's.. you always give us very interested videos I like it ... Keep doing this amigo for all of us we started a dj career... 👊🙏 ... Saludos from California usa
using those tricks is pretty helpful.thanks for that DJ Carlo..but I have a question. do you see yourself using VIRTUAL DJ? can you do some some tips and tricks using that software.. thanks a lot and more power.
Thanks for this one DJ Carlo! I'm currently practicing different kinds of transitions and techniques to improve on my mixes. Tho only mixing on a smartphone but still I love DJing and hope to get better on it.
I have to say emergency auto loop because if I’m off by a certain amount of beats my brain will immediately go to the loop section so it’s the most natural for me. The echo effect is useful for anything and everything too! It gives the song that extra kick in the transition!
All amazing tips. Only would like to ask to use less controller fx pads or controls and use more beat effects on the mixer or cdj loop controls just so it’s a good habit to pick up for more club set ups as bringing our own controllers to a club/bar can be less convenient for some
hey carlo i have been using VDJ it is good for mixing but not good for scratch as per my experience..n now iam using serato free version ryt now its not tat good as the paid one..please make a video of the software also if possible..thank u for sharing knowledge....btw no.3 was my fav.
Another great trick is to use beat jump function if you mix in to early or to late.
Agreed. I've used the beat jump function to jump back or forward a few beats when I've missed my cue point. You can also use the beat jump function to build hype out of a mistake. Just have to practice doing it.
I've also used this when I realize I'm way too late in the song to have time to mix in the next song well... kinda like a loop after the fact
Great videos Carlo!
BTW, which software are you using to capture rekordbox, the controller and add those cool annotations and effects?
Jip
Yes true the DDJ 400 controller Pioneer has a jump beat button on it which is great
Very good DJ Carlo👏🏾👍🏾🤘🏾 I liked you using the echo button on your controller
It's the most versatile effect out there!
Ive been djing since the 80s but your videos are still helpful to us OGs. Thanks
It's always good to learn something new! Glad there's still a few Nuggets of gold in these videos for you CJ!
@@djcarlo Many my friend!
when i’m playing bollywood, since most of the songs have recognizable intros, i try to avoid mixing and mainly echo out and cue/scratch drop songs in and it’s worked so far at my gigs
Different genres need different treatment
@ agreed, i don’t mix bollywood the way i mix rap, and i don’t mix rap the way i mix house, etc
Have you ever tried making music yourself on DAW’s? Many DJ’s have also tried producing music
@@djcarlo production is a whole different game ;)
Emergency auto loop was definitely my favorite
Thanks man! I certainly like it as well!
Me too bro, that's our common mistakes as a dj, Thank you so much for the tip dj carlo, you da best 🔥

The 3 tip was mine, I keep my quantize on permanently now. Thank you for all the tips.
How do you turn quantize on?
I stumbled on to the first and then started practicing it....and the third one I use a lot as. Another solid video.
Damn Bro. I really got a playlist with damn near half of your videos🤣. I legit have learnt basics from you my guy I would love to send you videos of what I can do from what you been teaching 🤣shoutout from LDN 🇬🇧
Hey thanks for being here!
Thanks for sharing! You are a good teacher! I have improved my skills a lot since I started watching your videos.
Keep on practicing! You can do it!
I use often the first trick, having traktor i use a delay in single mode (not group) with freeze enabled. Is a fantastic trick.
The worst mistake for me is probably the easiest to do, loading in the song on the wrong deck... Especially while using dual decks like the ddjs
Oh yeah! That's pretty common!
There must be a deck lock protect feature on your system?
Actually Serato have one, you must pause de deck before you load a song
On Rekordboy u can activate the Lock feauture, so you cant overwrite a running song
Dont you ever have press cue button on the deck was already playing ?? 😅🤣🤣
I always forget about quantize haven’t used it much. Cracking video as always Carlo
DJ Carlo Atendido I will 😁
i love the 1st person demonstrations. ive learned so much in just one video. thank you
You are so welcome!

Great trick the 2nd one with the loop to set the songs in the right positioning great one,i gonna use it for sure.

You too. Maybe a tutorial one day? ...
Best video bro.. keep it up
Trick 2 is my favorite. Even though I did learn this a long time ago with training from the ears.
Yep, I also emergencyloop quite often when playing around with tracks I don't know and haven't set cue points.
The best channel in RUclips!!
I would love to see more video using the Ddj 1000 srt. I just bought it
@@djcarlo traditional mixing with no controller. I would love to see some of these tips in that setup , please Carlo.
