Thank you so much for sharing Tomo I really enjoy your in-sight and information about the guitar, I have a Seymore Duncan Hotrails Pick-up on my strat that sounds great, super sweet and full sounding. Pick-ups add a lot of color and tone like you had mentioned on the Duo. The S/D pick guard you were holding looks awesome and I bet it sounds great also! Thanks again.
Seymour Duncan pickups are so good! I have the Everything Axe Loaded Pickguard on one of my strats. Hot Rodded set on another and I absolutely love them! Amazing pickups!
Oh, and the fact you're a good decent person shines through in all your videos. Of course you want to make money. Who doesn't? But you don't sell snake oil, and ppl can see that.
I just bought some Seymours for my first pickup swap. I have a Squier Contemporary Telecaster, and I thought the stock up pickups were fine until I bought an Epiphone SG and realized I was missing out on a LOT of definition. I got a Sentient and a Quarter Pounder on the way, excited to give them a try. Was between DiMarzio and Bare Knuckles but figured as someone in their first year, probably best to go with Duncans.
I decided that I wanted "Stratty" sounding pickups on my G&L S-500 Tribute. I got the flat version of these, the SSL-6 and SSL-2. This guitar has a 12-inch fretboard radius, which requires pickups without the vintage stagger. I'm really pleased with them! I also enjoy your channel, Tomo-sensei!
@@TomoFujitaMusic Vintage stagger pickups were designed for guitars with a 7.25-inch fretboard radius and wound g string. I considered Fender Texas Specials because I play blues. But they're only available in vintage stagger!
Cool, ive never had premium pickups or anything premium. What i do is take everything away from the pickups that i can and add new wiring, pots and capacitors that are vintage. This gives even the Mexican stratocaster ceramic pickups a really nice sound. Not exactly premium but ive never known anything else so it doesn't bother me. I knoe when i can take that step, I'll get some and customize them too. Next project will be to remove the poles and put in all alnico poles. Spending more than i normally pay for a guitar doesnt seem practical to me at the moment. Thanks for reading. I cant work anymore so i make due.
@@TomoFujitaMusic , thank you Tomo sir. Hoe I do know if mine are good is when someone plays my guitar or one I've done. 🤪 they call me the next day and say, I have blisters now. Also, when I go to guitar stores and pick up a nice I instrument, I feel thry don't quite sound as food or feel as good as mine do. One of my guy's has 30 something and only plays the 4 I did. Rarely, I'll want into guitar center and find a guitar that matches my abilities to make something out of nothing. Still have nothing but Squier. Have a very nice day.
Very interesting strat guitar. I have a 1990's crafted in Japan Strat i really love. It came with the Dave Gilmore EMG set which is pretty cool but im always up for something new. Thanks for sharing with us.
If you put a "Quick Connect" in your guitar Jack location, and the other connector on your "loaded" Pickguard, you can swap all the electronics and Pickups in under 10 minutes, without any soldering. This makes one guitar as versatile as the number of loaded Pickguards you have.
@@TomoFujitaMusic Awesome! There's a short video on YT called "Tutorial: Quick-Swap Pickguards for Strats" that shows how simple it can be. I can swap a loaded pickguard on my Strat in about 8 minutes from loosening the strings, to tuning up with the Loaded Pickguard ready to go.
Tomo, before I made custom guitars for the stars. Whew! Big Deal! I build a custom strat for Randy Hansen. So he wants left hand Maple Burrow body left hand Pafarrow strat neck, Floyd Rose 2 bridge, Evans Pickups from Canada. I called Evans they tell me pickups are back ordered for 100 years!!! Then I tell them it's for Randy Hansen and they say OH! right away! So I ordered standard custom wired strat set for Randy, then I get to speak with Mr. Evans, He asks who I work for, I tell him Big Sur Guitars! He asks me, "anything else?" I think a minute, then ask Do you have Humbuckers for the Bridge pickup? He says Funny you ask, I just wound my first Humbucker! I ask, Can I get a standard strat set with a humbucker?" He says "yes of course!" The cost was excessive, Big Deal! So I'm building a guitar for myself I put this new set of strat w/ a Humbucker, and put it on a Tele I'm building w/ a solid spruce body from Tom Anderson, birdseye tele neck, jumbo frets, Floyd Rose 1 bridge, right hand body and neck. The guitar ends up with the voice of an ANGEL! And sustain for days! I'm talking with Tom Anderson a few days after I complete my Tele, I ask if he has more bodies with solid spruce? Tom says, " No, I just milled two you got one, Keith Richards got the other!" Tom says, "you know that was enough spruce to make 10 sound boards for Martin!" So I got a one of a kind Tele that no other guitar compares to, for a song! 😎
If you like I have video of Randy Playing the guitar from Big Sur Guitars in Germany on German TV! The guitar is so Beautiful! Sounds so Good. Later I'm doing open mike at Prunedale, CA. Roadhouse Bar. and Mike Holland walks in, Mike played bass for Randy on west Coast tours. I told him about that guitar I built for Randy. Mike says that Randy Brags on that guitar to everyone! and says, "That it's the best he ever played" 😎 I got a good clip of Me and Mike Holland playing Manic Depression live.
How about this way... these has a little similarities and greatness on each side! I enjoy those noiseless too. Those noiseless has a slightly rounder top end than pure single coils.
you don't look old enough to be talking about those dates. I like the hoodie. Seymour Duncan makes fantastic pafs. they're back in my custom.the clarity is amazing put the pole pieces up to make em a little hotter. ive set up my Strat the neck doesn't bother anymore but I can't stnd the pick ups. maybe ill pick up a set for the Strat. I'm taming that floating bridge. I love working on my guitar as much as playing. sometimes I wonder if I'm doing all this just so I have something to tinker on? you make great videos that work of course your channel is growing. its by far the best channel on RUclips.
