    I have only just discovered your channel but I can say I'm a fan! I understand why most reviewers test at 1080p as you're more CPU bound whereas at 4K you're typically GPU bound. But as someone who has a 4090 and a 4k 120hz monitor seeing the differences in 4k is very much appreciated! I was very surprised to see there are actually note worthy differences at 4K. Thanks for all your hard work and cant wait for your next review!!!

      I'm playing with a 3900X and 4090 in 4K. Do you think its worth to upgrade to a 7800X3D?

    • @ravendagrey
      @ravendagrey Год назад +2

      @zeta well to be fair, that's on you. If you primarily game and have the funds to make the jump, then yes, it's a great CPU. You'll be on a platform that is supported for a few years, which would make for more options of future upgrades. Now, with that said, you could also just buy a 5800X3D and drop it in your current motherboard and get most of the gains the 3D cache provides in gaming without the need to buy a new motherboard and RAM as well and still have a great CPU for gaming for years as well. So, really, it boils down to you if you want to make the leap to a more modern platform now or later and how much you want to spend. The 3900x with a 4090 at 4K is still going to be mostly GPU bound in most games.

    • @cynicle
      @cynicle Год назад

      @@zeta6438 Dito other reply about personal value of an upgrade. I wanted to add that I have the 3700X and a 4080 and playing Cyberpunk @4k my GPU goes between 65% and 90% usage depending on which settings I run (and RT). So if my 3700X is bottlenecking the 4080 than a 12 core (with 6 cores per CCD) is almost certainly bottlenecking the 4090.
      Thing that hurts me is that I could hit 93% VRAM utilisation with RT (at least 4090 should be safe in that regard). Damn Nvidia and them cheaping out on VRAM!

      @@zeta6438 Worth is entirely relative mate, does the performance you’re getting now bother you, are you seeing stuttering for example? I think, however, that your videos could be even greater if you'd test "simulation" games that are heavily (/almost fully ?) CPU-bound.
    Paradox games such as Crusader Kings 2/3, Stellaris (which are pretty easy to benchmark -> simply go in spectate mode and compare how quick the maps evolves in full speed mode) or Factorio are rumored to benefit greatly from the 3D V Cache technology.
    I really think that only those games can show the ultimate power extent of the 3D V Cache.

    Nice to see someone testing ZEN with proper DDR5 6000 RAM. But I would like to know the timings. At 6000, CL30 with tight sub-timings is best for peak performance on ZEN5. Still, nicely presented video.

    Yes, I also appreciate all the resolutions tested. So many believe that 1080p and 4k scale the same in all games. I'm glad you've proven otherwise. I would like to see the 1% lows included in your graphs in the future. Additionally, if you could share typical frame times ranges for each of the resolutions for each game, it would help prove other factors. I know that's a bunch of extra work, but thanks for the detailed review!

      1% lows are in the graph for most games, but they'll get a visual update with proper bars when possible.

    Thank you for including the 4k data. A direct comparison between a static clocked 7700x and 7600x would be interesting. I can static clock the 7700x to 5.3 GHz @ 1.2 volts and the 7600x to 5.475 GHz @ 1.215 Colts. In both cases the power consumption in around 100 watts or less. Good video better than Out of the Box.

    • @TonkarzOfSolSystem
      @TonkarzOfSolSystem Год назад +1

      These results actually illustrate why those channels test the way they do - look at how many of these results show identical results at 4k despite the differences in the CPUs themselves. Notice they only have 4 CPUs in this test - if they had other CPUs you'd see that 4k results actually hide weaknesses in slower CPUs. If you're really after a high end CPU, why do you want results that make high end CPUs and mid range CPUs seem equivalent.

    • @Effect-Without-Cause
      @Effect-Without-Cause Год назад

      That's because they're comparing cpu's not gpu's. learn how your computer works before asking for time wasting benchmarks from reviewers, or wasting your own money on useless upgrades.
