That was a very informative report! I think if development is with a sustainable plan then its a better plan that should be carried out. You can see many big cities like Paris, Amsterdam and cologne are developed around the river side and doing well! but if the plan is to give benefit to developers like AH and MR then may God be with Lahore!

I haven't read about the project details but I think building river banks and just allowing a 1 km construction side is suitable for all future projects. Agricultural land should not be used for construction and land near Revier is always fertile and rich in minerals. So technically a 3 km wide and 50 km long city is suitable for river banks. (1km left bank, 1km right bank, and 1 km river width) 1 main Road and 1 metro can easily cover the area and Pakistan can build more than 10 cities in the same pattern,

2. Gujrat and Wazirabad,
3. Bheira on jahlum river,
4. Pindibhatian on chanab,
5. Jhang athrahazar where Jhelum and chanab meet,
6. multan and muzafargharh on chanab
7. kotmithan Indus river
8. Sukkur on Indus river
9.Sehwan
10. Hyderabad
11. Near Keti Bandar
They can mak it a master plan, build cities, and stop further housing societies by acquiring agriculture land.

Ch Sulaman Warraich , i am from distt layyah. This same thing happened to us and still happening to us. Barrages were built downstream from us. We were upstream on the indus river. The water level rose and we lost many villages as well as land. We have the same green belts and pond areas around indus river. These areas are also curbed by influential corrupt people. God helps riverine people
Everyday the number of unplanned and bizarre housing societies popping up around the city is increasing. Lahore is going to expand anyways. Why not expand it in a planned manner where we have sewage treatment plants proper water channels green belts and parks. I don't see any negative impacts on the environment
The thing is there will be no sewage system or sustainability. It is just for selling plots to rich and earning money making things difficult for poor people

Stop expanding mega cities including Lahore. Build new cities in ln "Barany lands", not the irrigated land. This is sucidal for a nation lead by land mafias. May Allah have mercy on the poor people and save our environment. The EPD Punjab should force city of Lahore not to dump sewer in the river and treat it/claen it before doing so instead of saying that this new development will have a positive impact? How? The people who are backlashing!! Guys this land had to be turned into Concrete Jungle sooner or later. If not the government then surely the real estate developers would be making societies here. So why not allow the Government to come up with an eco-friendly plan and make a city. Btw a lot of miyawaki forests and ecological projects are being included in this project.
