- This quick and easy braised tofu is loaded with a lot of umami flavour. The tofu is soaking up the delicious flavour and aroma from the spring onions, shiitake mushrooms and ginger 😋

* Ingredients (serves 2)*
300g firm tofu
4-5 spring onions (about 100g)
2-3 shiitake mushrooms
A little piece of ginger
1-2 dried red chillies
1 and 1/2 tablespoons vegetable oil
A pinch of salt
1 tablespoon soy sauce
200ml vegetable broth (1/2 vegetable stock cube dissolved in 200ml boiling water)
2 teaspoons sugar
A pinch of white pepper
Dash of sesame oil
Plain steamed rice for sarving

Love this recipe, it reminds me of the good old times. I remember the times when I didn’t like tofu…so I thought. Then I met Chinese ppl in a dormitory lol. Fresh tofu from any Asian supermarket is so pure and versatile. Now we have it every week including MueMue style 🐻💜.
Haha, you had the bet tofu teachers in the dormitory! Yeah most of my British friends say about tofu - “a boring white block”😆, but if they knew how to cook it, then they’d like it, I think. Also the quality and taste of tofu in the local market in the UK and the West has improved so much in the last few years. Hopefully people will enjoy tofu more! 🐻❤
