As an Angels fan, watching all those great moments hurts. The Halos had Ohtani and Trout at the same time for 6 years and never made it to the post season. I wish him well in his new blue uniform next year and beyond. Sorry to see him leave Anaheim, but happy for him for receiving the biggest contract in the history of north American pro sports.
Don’t feel too bad man! Players move around all the time, but they always carry your heart. Can’t tell you how many times I’ve watched a player I liked move to another team and still root for them to succeed.

Being an Arizona native and D-Back fan I’m actually very happy that I get a chance to see Shohei play when Dodgers come to town.
The Dodgers would be able to win a championship ring. It is impossible for a man of this caliber to have not won a World Series by the time he retires.
Watching this is bittersweet. Ngl my heart sank when I saw his ig post I had to recheck a few times to make sure it was really him. After sitting on it for a few hours I feel ok. He really did gave his all to the Angels, took minimum pay and made the organization so much money. It's probably the best contract in mlb history. What more can you ask from him? He deserves to go to a winning organization. I'll be supporting you Shohei, I hope you win that ring. Let's go Sho!

It was Dodgers that continued its offer to Ohtani since he was 16 years' old. And when he announced the challenge to MLB, Dodgers again tried to get him but there was no DH rule in NL, so Ohtani decided to go to Angeles.
Finally, the fate of both is now connected. Congrats to both!!

But Ohtani is the person who wanted to feel "the best fit" with a team and who wanted to show his gratitude and appreciation for Dodgers that kept watching for and pursuing him for 10 years. Since he likes challenges and likes to play with the maximum energy for the games, he has taken so long to consider a team where he could feel comfortable, yet competitive with each other and with rival teams. Shohei still remembers Mr. Kuriyama's respect and love for him, and his WBC participation and the victory of Samurai Japan was his way to return his appreciation to Kuriyama's trust and belief in his talent as a two-way player. I still remember the time of Kuriyama's resignation celemony, when Ohtani in the E-video screen at the ballpark said to Kuriyama, "The two-way play is now being recognized in the MLB little by little, all because Kuriyama was with me, supporting and encouraging me." Shohei has such a great personality, as he has written down in his Goal chart sheet, about what he needs to have: Respect, Appreciation, and Kindness to Teammates.

Quite an assumption considering it is his second operation on his pitching arm and the fact that he hurt himself swinging a bat last year. 3 years doesn't make a legend and many many players have stumbled on that path. Hope he doesn't get hurt covering 1st base from the mound too, because he hasn't master that yet. He gets in the baseline.

Yes, we want to send the best lineup out for every game; but we saw what running Freddie out there every day (minus one) did to his playoff
performance, same for Mookie. They were gassed. And after a taxing 2 month run in July and August - they had little left for September and October. While it is admirable that they want to play every game, Roberts needs well rested players
to be at their most optimal for the championship run. Who's running the team - the superstars or the manager?

I don’t agree with resting players for the future, that’s a page out of the nba and they’re doing everything they can to stop that. Load management is boring for the game and boring for the fans.

Up until now, when Otani had to make a heavy decision, the Dodgers had been unable to reach a mutual understanding even though he had options. He has been fascinated by his talent since high school and has been thoroughly marked. Scouts visited him frequently and tried to create a path for him to become a major player after graduating from Hanamaki Higashi High School in Iwate. However, Otani remained in Japan because he was moved by Nippon Ham, which presented a two-way plan.
In 2017, when Ohtani tried to play in the majors using the posting system, he again raised his hand, but Ohtani chose the Angels, which is closer to his home base and only 50 kilometers away on the freeway. Although he was disappointed, his wish was finally fulfilled with his ``third courtship.''
Shohei chose Angels because Angels was the only team sincerely giving Shohei both starting pitcher and DH position while all the NL teams didn't have DH position in 2017. Shohei wants to challenge major as a two-way player and that's why he chose Angels since Angels gave him the real opportunity to be a true two-way player, Shohei didn't care if the team is close or far from Japan!
