"Although the environment around an organism changes, the organism maintains relatively stable internal conditions. This ability to maintain internal stability, called homeostasis.
For example if a person stands in a cold wintery night or hot sub sahran africn weather , the person is able to maintain a normal internal body temperature 36-37C (97-99F) through homeostasis.
The main mechanism to maintain a homestatic environment is through negative feedback. Negative feedback is where the body senses change and activated mechanisms that negate or reverse it."

Hello, well explained video thank you .. Can I ask if heat sensitivity is anything to do with the video please. I can't understand why if I eat/drink anything even semi hot or go near heat, I have firstly a pain at the top of my head quickly followed by a increase in heat plus a sudden urge to urinate. This is a pattern which never changes in character. I yawn excessively with spasms at the front part of my throat which rises to my jaw and to my sinus height. The spasm from this are now into my chest muscles. I yawn many times in one go. This scenario tells me I am in for many episodes of heat intolerance. I notice I don't sweat much, just a slight tacky feeling at forehead and back of neck but no where else. I have this all day and night although it builds up more from mid afternoon, worse around 6PM, becoming more frequent mid evening then just goes all through the night, I cannot sleep. I have to stand outside to cool down.. The heat attacks are always accompanied with prickly heat. Through sheer exhaustion I fall asleep early hours but have say 2 heat attacks prior to dropping off then another waking me up and after that I can finally sleep.. I am on Levothyroxine 25mg although my doctor says I have symptoms of hypo and hyperthyroidism. I also am awaiting gall bladder removal and I also have a small hiatus hernia. I have degenerative disc desease. Menopause has been ruled out as I don't sweat much plus the symptoms are present over 24hrs. Heat Intolerance has been mentioned thus far. I am 67yrs old. Please can you help direct me to the correct department as these symptoms seem to lend themselves to a few conditions. Confused.. Thank you for any advice..

This was fascinating and immensely, but you failed to mention the driving force of all that feedback. Endocannabinoids signal both negative and positive feedback. It’s the Endocannabinoid system that maintains homeostasis. I’d like to see your take on the ECS.

What would happen if a negative feedback mechanism did not return the value
of some parameter such as blood pressure to its normal range?

    • @angelinam533

Then it would not be negative feedback. It would then be positive
