Great question. STP ("standard temperature and pressure") is a shorthand way of saying 1 atm (or 760 mmHg) of pressure and 0º C (or 273 K). Standard temperature is 0º C and standard pressure is 1 atm.
I would have never got this had I not watched. I paid over $200 for my chem class just to not understand the way my instructor explains it. I have been watching you all semester. Thank you sooooo much for showing this for free!!! Peace & Blessings!!!
Hey everyone, I'm here to help. If you have any questions or just want to learn more, click on the link in the description above. It'll take you to a page where you can ask me questions.
@ronanmartin49 if something is constant, that means it stays the same from beginning to end. so if pressure is 24 atm and it's constant, that means that P1=24 atm, and P2=24 atm also. for more information about this, i highly recommend you watch my video called "Which Gas equation Do I Use?" it should answer all your questions.
same here, for me it seems that my brain can absorb more information on watching a video than listening to my teacher, maybe because when we are in school there are a lots of distractions. The advantage of a video is most of the time you are the only one watching it, and you can rewind/repeat any time. The disadvantage is you cannot ask a question, it is still possible to ask through comments or whatever but the answer is not instant unlike a teacher which can answer in that very moment or he/she could just scold you for not listening very well.
@MrQuickSqueez yeah, you can do it that way, but it's not as accurate. the reason why is there are more math steps your way than the way i show in the video. so you divide and/or multiply at three different steps in this, but in the video, i arrange everything and then do all the math at once. so know that your method works, but the answer you get will often be a little less accurate than if you arranged the whole equation and then did all the math in one step. make sense?
Thanks Tyler! Going for my gas ticket and have struggled immensely with the combined gas laws. Your videos are concise and very much appreciated! Subscribed
THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!!!! It's incredible at how much easier it is to understand everything just by watching you, Tyler. Thank you for finding a common sense way of explaining chemistry. I have been watching your videos to follow right along with my online chem class and it has been a God send. Keep doing what you do!
isn't it crazy that you wrote this comment five years ago? like I bet that you don't even remember writing this chem test now, but it was so important at the time. im writing mine tomorrow btw lol
@shaheen1990 you multiply everything together on top, and then multiply everything together on the bottom. then you divide the top by the bottom. in other words, the math you do is: (277 x 1.00 x 40.0) / (298 x 11.00). does that make sense?
THANK YOU!!! Within 4 minutes I understood what I have been struggling to comprehend. I am going back to school at 35 to be a nurse. I graduated college the first time in 2003. So many years and 5 kids later, this stuff is very difficult to understand. Not to mention my professor is Chinese and while he means well, with his thick accent and high intelligence he doesn't understand how it could be difficult to understand. I am so thankful for you and your videos!!
I'm 24years old and just finished with BSC in Microbiology, I have been contemplating going for nursing but was in doubt because of age factor. Now reading you going back for nursing at age 35 is a big green light for me to actually follow my desire. Thank you very much and I hope you're a nurse now!!!
@@adeolabamigboye6767 You are never too old. I wrote this comment a long time ago. I went back at 35 just doing my science prerequisites. I didn't start the nursing program until 2020. 6 Mos before I turned 40. I graduated 16 Mos. later at almost 41. I was far from the oldest in my class. There was one lady who had to be 60. 24 was the youngest, there were several people that young. If you already have a bachelor's degree, find yourself an accredited Accelerated BSN program. It is intense, but you get your bachelor's quickly. I am a nurse now, and while it is tough and not every day is a good day, I really do enjoy it. And I'm proud of myself for what I accomplished. Good luck to you!! You got this!
I have spent the past 6 months trying to work out and get it in my head. After watching your video, I can now actually understand it. Fantastic teaching. Thank you.
Thank you so much for all of your videos. You don't know how gratefully Thankful I am for you. Your videos have helped me pass quite a few quizzes that I don't think I would have passed if I hadn't watch your videos @TylerDewitt You're the Best!
Watching videos like this is the only way I survive Chemistry. My teacher cannot teach at all! Thanks for your help, you videos will definitely help me for my test tomorrow.
Thank you very much. I've been watching your gas law videos for two nights already, and I really understood each law! (I've been frequently absent-minded and skipping class lately so this helps😃)
Thank you so much for explaining it in a clear way, unlike my teacher that tells me to figure it out even though I was absent for a week. Bless your soul.
hey man, thanks for the help! I really need it, and it's nice to find that you explain your broad array of chem knowledge in a way that is easy to understand. Didn't hesitate to subscribe....and I will certainly introduce many friends to your channel. Keep up the good work
This is such a helpful video! In my class, we have to report an assigned chemistry topic each (I really think my teacher just became lazy to teach this term), which we have to present by pair. Because of this video, I now understand it completely! What I was actually really stumbling on though was deriving the correct formula to get the missing variable. However, you explained it perfectly. Thank you!
Your videos are amazing and have helped me a lot. I'm a science major myself. Taking intro to chemistry right now but I still need general, chemistry 1B, and organic chemistry. Hopefully you have videos for those classes as well.
thank you for your videos. they helped me clarify some confusion on my homework and I have a test coming up and wanted to make sure I understood all the laws. THANKS

Why aren't you my chemistry teacher? My teacher talks way too much about other things. Personally I don't think he teaches us correctly. This video really helped me understand. Thank you and I just subscribed.
You can simply transpose t2 and p2 that side instead of multiplying both side, it's not a big cause but people will find it easy and less time consuming as they might do the same thing in exam. Btw nice explanation
Hello. My teacher explained in a different way. He said that you can use Celsius in the equation. Is he right that you can put Celsius? Or you have to change it to Kelvin at all times.
