good question. it actually doesn't matter which variable is on the top and which is on the bottom, just as long as it's the same in both cases. for example, 4/2 = 2/1, and i can flip both and say 2/4 = 1/2. so you can write it as V1/n1 = V2/n2, or n1/V1 = n2/V2, whichever you like better.
In calculating a sample problem I got two different answers when the variables were flipped. Everywhere I look V is on top, n on the bottom. Can you help in explaining why it doesn’t matter? Thank you very much.
You're awesome. Your step by step methods is so clear and understandable. I wish you were my teacher. I love Chem but with all these gas laws its very confusing. Watching your videos helps so much to clarify confusing parts.
you are literally a lifesaver i have my finals in a few hours my chem teacher is pretty much useless and his way of teaching is just so unclear i get confused everytime but when i watched your videos on the topic it is alot easier to understand thank you!
need to say a very big thank you for your clarity and delivery pace, you will be my saving grace in understanding bioscience, haven't found anyone that can teach a newcomer to this field as good as yourself thanks karen
You are awesome. You so clearly and methodically explain the concepts without sounding condescending or treating the viewer like a child. Excellent video!
Sir, thank you for your hard work. I'm new to the channel and never really looked up teaching videos on you-tube. You are my first and have helped me better understand chemistry. I have been struggling a'lot in lecture, i find this video where i can go back and look over your work and hear your words again a great advantage to completely learning this subject. again thank you and keep up the work.
I am studying for a Chemistry final and there are some things I just didn't understand. Then I came across your videos and they really do help! Thank you for taking the time out of your day to make these videos!
I am a college student and these videos are the only reason I'm getting an A. You work magic! Thank you so much for all the time and effort you have put into your teaching and sharing it with us! :)

I'm preparing for IIT-JEE and you're videos serve me more conceptual clarity than anyone I've been tutored by. You are just amazing. I would worship you if you were my teacher here.Thank you.
I deeply appreciate you Tyler. Its been such a blessing to have encountered your channel. You make college seem so much easier, hell you make premed seem like a piece of cake with your god-like teaching abilities. You have this magic in you as if you are meant to teach. I get so stressed with chemistry and you literally make all my depression vanish after a couple videos. I LOVE YOU SO MUCH. I APPRECIATE YOU SO MUCH. I would sell my soul to satan for you to be my chem tutor. i appreciate you so much. like a lot. god youre amazing. sending all my love your way. keep doing what your doing. Brilliant, as all your videos are! Thank you also for telling us what are the common errors as well. You have a hand in touching every life that every future doctor or nurse saves because you helped them succeed!
I love this guy so much, he explained everything so easy. If the answer should be in grams and is not necessarily show working, you don’t have to convert to grams. It would give you same answer.
Hello I am from India 🇮🇳 after seeing this video I can understand whole concept. It's okay it is a 9years old video but it is legendary and you r also a legendary teacher
Hi Tyler, You didn't need to convert mass to mole then back. Equation works as mass and number of moles are proportional (linear relationship) to each other. Great video :)

your drawing of Balloon is good. I can't draw like this. Anyway you are extremely awesome teacher. The coolest teacher ever. I enjoy watching your videos and guess what; it teaches me too. You are far better than any other teacher. I really love you for your teaching. 😊🤩🤗
I just love your videos. you are in my top list.......NO ONE CAN TAKE YOUR POSITION! Everyday i see your videos and i just love them. you are the one who introduced me in the world of chemistry :) dont stop making videos !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
the 32.0 has 2 significant figures, not 3. The 0 after the decimal isnt significant unless there are numbers behind it. Nitpicking, i know. But yeah while you were solving it the first time around, i decided to not convert it to moles and solve it. Worked fine. then i converted it to moles and still worked. I like how you take time to check to see everything cancels out and your units are correct.
Incorrect. All trailing numbers (including zero) after a decimal point are significant. If you're going to be presumptuous enough to try correcting someone who actually teaches chemistry, it's probably a good idea to also make sure you know what you're talking about.
Finally, I can get rid of my high school chem book that full of fancy terms and equations, which takes me over 1 hr just to read one damn page . Thank you so much .
So true; I can't actually read a school text book due to a little problem i have... e_e But this guy's video is saving me from so much suffering. I really don't know what I'd do in my last few years of school without this kind of help. Amazing explanation, relatively straight forward and portrays it in a simple way to make it look easy and not intimidate students.
I need you to be my chemistry teacher at tri cities, even though your way takes a tad bit longer it's still easy to understand and I like your way. Good teaching
Can you do short method instead of long method since the question is how many grams? Cross multiplication is enough, so that we can get exact value of grams.
I have just done my calculation without converting between mole and gram. I have got the same answer: 50g/48L= n/79L --> n = 82.29g. Tyler, can you please explain this? Thanks.
It works without converting because they are the same gas (both O2, which means they have the same conversion factor between grams and moles). I can’t imagine a situation where it would be 100% necessary to convert unless you were doing a very complex problem with chemical reactions and gas changes.
