From Boyle's law to Charles' Law and to the Combined Gas Equation, how do you know which equation to choose? We'll talk about that, and also how to figure out which variables should be T1, or P2, or V1, and so forth.

You have two choices. You can either memorize each gas law, or you can use the strategy I talk about about "Be Lazy, Don't Memorize the Gas Laws." But the point is, you can't just pull the gas law out of thin air, you'll need to either have memorized it or have a strategy for coming up with it.

Or you could just memorize the combined gas law and remove variables when necessary, since all the formulas except the ideal gas law are derived from it.

I have a great teacher, but he took this lesson VERY quickly. We started the chapter on a Thursday, practiced on Monday and Wednesday, and now we have a test tomorrow, Friday. This speed sort of left me in the dust and I was REALLY struggling to even begin these equations (especially with the college level wording of my book). After watching this video, I feel much more comfortable with these problems, since it's simple algebra from where you left off. Thanks for this video, it was such a help!!
