Ann, the thing that concerns me most about these content farms is that RUclips removes REAL content creators and pushes the content farm videos with their advertising algorithms. How can we put a stop to these once and for all?
1.Take a picture of the ads showing on the content farms 2. Involve the companies of those ads and inform them that it's a content farm, so their ads are meaningless since it's not real people 3. Let the big companies bitchslap youtube back into action
Click on the three dots next to the thumbnail of any videos recommended to you and select "don't show me this content." It doesn't take long for the content farm videos to disappear. DO NOT watch the videos, for any reason. And make sure you turn off autoplay, especially on facebook; the 2 seconds it takes you to decide not to watch the whole video still counts as a hit. Encourage everyone you know to do the same, including the comment sections on debunking videos. All the people who are suggesting these videos to Ann are still helping the content farms.
Add E I'd also like to add that you can share the videos without clicking on the video from the three dot button thingy so if for whatever ungodly reason you need to share it you still don't have to contribute to their view counts
Plus, youtube gives strikes to those creators when it's something super mild or inoffensive but then they let ACTUAL harmful videos on the platform. RUclips setting their priorities right 👌
I think it’s because it’s kids watching this mostly. They don’t understand that they are getting clickbaited. When I was younger I definitely went down a content farm rabbit hole
Channels like Mr. Cakes aren’t even content creators, every single thing they post is a compilation of stolen clips from other creators cause I can easily point out who made what. A lot of clips they show is from the scran line, taste made, Matt Addlard, Joey, a lot of Brazilian/foreign creators, etc. At least 5 mins crafts film their own content (at least from what I’ve seen, maybe they steal too).
@Enderguin58 The youtuber she honestly didnt need to do the hacks. Yes she said in the title that she would, but talking about how these channels are content farms already tell us that the hacks are fake. The whole concept of these channel arent to inform but to just release videos and make money theres no real need to test.
@Enderguin58 The youtuber It's an example of the clickbait formula described at @12:19 (irony can be missed easily, especially by people new to the channel, so that was a gamble on her part). Her other videos *do* test the hacks.
Enderguin58 The youtuber Watch 12:15, she's proving a point lmao. Also she does expose some viral video tricks, such as the title formula she's using here.
I feel like the only way to stop this is for MCNs to act like unions and take strike action to demand change. RUclips clearly only listens to the money.
I always feel so bad for the actual cake makers, who spend days labouring over their beautiful cakes, only to have them stolen and used by these content farms. RUclips should do something about this, but of course they won’t, with numbers like that.
I agree. I forget how expensive it is to bake all these cakes and with Covid and everything it's hard to share your baked goods with people and some of the food goes to waste.
@@SinMore There are a lot of great "hand" channels. One of the great things about RUclips is the possible anonymity while still being able to engage your audience. Examples are AvE and LockpickingLawyer.
RUclips let these giants get too big so now it's like a dangerous surgery to remove a tumor, they're obviously content farms and very blatantly break those rules. Just got done watching all the Mark and Charlie business
This has been so useful and informative, and I especially love that she makes a point to refer her viewers to useful resources such as the viral content book. This platform does not deserve Ann.
I used to tell my mum not to believe everything she sees on the internet and she's like "why is it on the internet if it's fake" then that's how I know that the internet is a dangerous place for people who believe easily. Too bad, she's no longer around to see your debunking videos.
in canada we used to have these funny commercials about a house hippo and it was a way to inform people/children to not always believe everything you watch/see on TV, and the same should apply to internet now that most kids and people watch stuff online as opposed to TV
Karine V yeah, they seemed very off. At first because I want entirely focusing I just went well they seem like real people but once I actually payed attention that’s when I also figured out it was fake.
OK, so I have a few rules of my own that I tend to use when I use RUclips. 1. Make use of the three-dot icon on the side of each video title. If you have seen the video before (whether the video suggestion shows it or not), click “Not Interested” and click “Tell Us Why” and check the “I’ve already seen this video”. 2. Similarly, if the suggested video looks as if it is spam or contains content that keeps being sent to your suggestions, consider using the same menu but click “Don’t Recommend This Channel”. 3. Just because the channel asks you to “Like and Subscribe”, don’t just do it. The ultimate decision on if you like a video lies with you as does the subscription. “I didn’t forget to like and subscribe, I just didn’t do it.” 4. Remember that you have a pause button available to you and that you can always click away. If a video spends too much time advertising at the end, pause and click away. Channels that use mid-roll ads often end up on my “Don’t Recommend” list. Just because these channels need the money, it does not mean that they should compromise the content just so they can promote something. 5. If you get fooled by clickbait once, chances are that the channel in question is likely to make a habit of it. That’s another good use of the “Don’t Recommend” selection. I could go on, but that should be enough for now.
As soon as I saw the “chefs” I was like oh this is FAKE FAKE. Then I saw the improper english and knew it was another content farm from a country outside the USA despite being targeted there.
I just got a message today that a *private* video from *2 years ago* with *zero views* that was a 30 second clip of lightning outside my house was "flagged for review" and given an age restriction. Is he pulling in the ads like these industrialized content machines? RUclips will continue to flush the community's soul and creativity down the drain and tramples individual creators as long as they continue to be rewarded for it, and the momentum of their existence is simply too great that there is no stopping them.
Yeah its the same as etsy. That originally started as a site for independent creators of crafted items. There were and still are rules that say you can't outsource your work, it can't be factory made etc etc. A small independent creator got banned (and lost a lots of their income in the process) because their company consisted of 3 other people each involved in a different step of production of the garments which were made custom to people's orders. So not in bulk or anything. Etsy claimed that meant that they were factory made not hand crafted. Meanwhile, its become more common to just find cheap wholesale purchased identical items listed by lots of sellers with weird sounding names and poorly translated descriptions which try to claim that they make everything by hand. But they are not. But they end up making etsy a ton of money so etsy looks the other way. And when the small independent makers tried to bring this to etsy's attention, they got banned for "calling out" basically. It was so ridiculous! As a result, lots of the small independent makers have been forced off the platform as they can't compete with the mass produced crap in terms of price or quantity. The whole reason they started selling on etsy was to get away from that on ebay, but it just followed across. Many makers gave up trying to run a business at all, some have websites but since they have to manage them themselves now with less ease of use they tend not to use them in quite the same way they once did. They've seen a reduction in income too.
KattriellaDoesStuff the problem is they can make the platform as shitty as they want because where else are you going to go if you want to make money and have a huge audience? Twitch is the closest thing but it’s not really cutting into RUclips’s revenue.
Alexa Faie That’s so messed up!!! But then again is anyone surprised that capitalism doesn’t care about small individual creators with minuscule portions of the market 🙄. The system that allows one person to be worth $200billion is BROKEN and doesn’t work for smaller people.
And it pisses me off to see that actual content creators that create good, educational content are constantly getting demonetized because they accidentally say a curse word or for no reason at all while content farms (especially ones dedicated for kids’ enjoyment) are putting out such harmful content.
Some of those pictures on their thumbnails are actually products from other company’s. Like that geometric chocolate heart I saw many times, it’s really a product called ‘the heartbreaker’ from some Asian company.

Is that not the definition of fraud and hence illegal. People like this is the reason REAL content creators have to beg for donations on patreon. LOLs she did the clickbate title thing.
This reminds me of all those strange ads I use to see through yahoo. The ones about losing belly fat, or those weird pictures of some gross looking seed or fruit that burns fat. Not sure if any one ever clicked on those images, but they're always there. RUclips cheaters just use images of cake instead of an often poor drawing of some woman squishing her belly fat.
Maybe these content farms are giving youtube extra money as a kickback or something. There's got to be a reason they are allowing it for them and nobody else. Kick back sounds about right to me.

The only reason to clean the bottom of the pan is if you’re really anal or are finding it a new home, in which case you use Bar Keepers Friend and elbow grease, a lot of it.
emccoy, Revereware! My parents still have some of that. I was trying all kinds of chemicals to eat off that burned on “patina” without eating off the copper. This is the second video I watched on your channel. I'm so impressed that I just posted this to Facebook and recommended your channel to my friends. And now I'm subscribed and looking forward to watching all your videos.
I hate the effect the algorithm is having on actual content creators. Other creators I watch are also mentioning how they're getting virtually no adsense money anymore. Such a shame that great creators like you and others are being buried by clickbait and spam. The only reason I'm even commenting is to boost this video in the face of the algorithm. Good luck and thanks for the awesome videos!
Yeah it's terrible. Something happened a couple of months ago too, that suddenly radically changed how many views a number of creators I follow have been getting. One of them made a graph and it shows a really clear change where suddenly they're getting a lot fewer people watching, while their content has remained of exactly the same type and quality. Another has decided recently to start using more clickbaity words in his video titles in an attempt to make the algorithm pick up his videos more so he can maybe get back to where he was before. It's sad that people are having the rules changed on them so much, and that RUclips doesn't seem to care about anything except the almighty dollarsigns.
I would like to know does RUclips forgive channels where their viewers click on ads or purchase through youtube ads? Assuming youtube makes more money when people engage with the ads.
"Richard has a true passion for baking and that is why he has been our founder and head chef since day one." I mean if he was the founder he'd kind of have to be there since day one
I mean, he might have been the founder since day one, but it’s possible he only became head chef later. I don’t know why the founder of a bakery _wouldn’t_ be head chef right away, but then, I don’t know how they are run. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
You're the best Anne. I feel that more people need to hear what you have to say and I will be sharing this. RUclips is definitely broken and is favoring big business over the small content creators that we really want to see
Same, OP. Do you click on those kinds of videos? If not, maybe youtube has figured out it can't serve you adds on what you don't click. I used to get clickbait more often (it's rare now) my guess is it knows there are easier ways to get my eyeball money than to recommend clickbait.

Five minute crafts dont steal but they do something worse than stealing

17 SHOCKING PLOT TWISTS THAT WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE
OK, so I have a few rules of my own that I tend to use when I use RUclips.
“I didn’t forget to like and subscribe, I just didn’t do it.”

It’s allowed to work because RUclips will look the other way as long as they’re making money 🙃🙃🙃 even if they’re ruining this platform
You'd think SOMEBODY at RUclips would eventually realize that if they run the platform into the ground, they're eventually going to lose money.
Illegal digital money.
With glitches!
“What We Offers” made me absolutely lose it. Gollum has branched out to content farming.
And it pisses me off to see that actual content creators that create good, educational content are constantly getting demonetized because they accidentally say a curse word or for no reason at all while content farms (especially ones dedicated for kids’ enjoyment) are putting out such harmful content.

RUclips cheaters just use images of cake instead of an often poor drawing of some woman squishing her belly fat.
Maybe these content farms are giving youtube extra money as a kickback or something. There's got to be a reason they are allowing it for them and nobody else. Kick back sounds about right to me.

it’s really sad that youtube not only doesn’t punish this type of behaviour, but rewards it. there is a youtube account i used to watch to read and reacted to memes and had his whole channel demonetized for “repeating content” but these companies can keep posting the exact same videos and get millions upon millions of views.
RUclips makes money off this :D They will never punish those creators
@@snakeharmer6909 RUclips have the same amount of morals as Facebook Google and the like. They're ALL THE SAME now.
@@kamilajurczynska3185 untrue, RUclips has bots and the reason why they have them is because they can't just do it themself because there is way too many channels so youtubers have to call them out themself and post it on twitter.
They are owned by Google they don't really need the money too much.
All I can say is that they need better bots
“Have you ever cleaned the bottom of your sauce pan?” There was SOO much sass and disappointment in that. That is the exact reason I love Ann.
Yeah, I tried cleaning the bottoms of mine once. Ruined 3 of my favorite pans. 😂 That was one of my first lessons in NOT trusting the interwebs for advice.
The only reason to clean the bottom of the pan is if you’re really anal or are finding it a new home, in which case you use Bar Keepers Friend and elbow grease, a lot of it.
My parents had really nice copper bottom pans when I was a kid so yes I did.... >.>
emccoy, Revereware! My parents still have some of that. I was trying all kinds of chemicals to eat off that burned on “patina” without eating off the copper. I think I settled on Easy Off oven cleaner for a short period of time plus Bar Keepers Friend and elbow grease, but we were preparing them to go to Goodwill, and few people will buy old, greasy pans.
@Miles nah
This is the second video I watched on your channel. I'm so impressed that I just posted this to Facebook and recommended your channel to my friends. And now I'm subscribed and looking forward to watching all your videos.
The rules are simple:
I see debunking
I will be clicking
Even if I am late cause I live in the US.
uk 4 me
When I read this comment I heard in my head one lyrics line....
" You know the rules, and so do I"
Oh how the tables turned (I'm Aussie and usually late)
It's sad that people are having the rules changed on them so much, and that RUclips doesn't seem to care about anything except the almighty dollarsigns.
me realizing that the title of this was clickbait and that she’s literally a genius 👁👄👁
YESSSSSSSS 😂😂😂
The clickbait is real😂

I can’t complain, she gives the people what they actually want
RUclips only applies the "rules" to channels that don't make money.
Ann: 'this is how clickbait works regarding to a psychologist'
Me: looks at title
Also me: 'I see what you did there, clever.'
Hahah I came to write the same.. 😅
Yep, I see what you did Ann.
I didn’t even realize until the comments 🤣
“Because money’s involved” 🤣❤️
Well she's not wrong.
Oh dang, crazy seeing you here!
oh hello
I didn’t know that a famous RUclipsr that I never knew of was here.... well hi Watts.
I would like to know does RUclips forgive channels where their viewers click on ads or purchase through youtube ads?
Assuming youtube makes more money when people engage with the ads.
"Richard has a true passion for baking and that is why he has been our founder and head chef since day one."
I mean
if he was the founder
he'd kind of have to be there since day one
😂😂
richard has been our founder since 2 months after our company started
@@ramsesbams did you mean Elon Musk?
@@syedrahim6199 Elon Mousse-k
Sorry
I mean, he might have been the founder since day one, but it’s possible he only became head chef later. I don’t know why the founder of a bakery _wouldn’t_ be head chef right away, but then, I don’t know how they are run. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
You're the best Anne. I feel that more people need to hear what you have to say and I will be sharing this. RUclips is definitely broken and is favoring big business over the small content creators that we really want to see
omg I realised during watching this she actually mimicked the title format
Nice catch!
Me too because i didn't even read the title before i clicked. I just always watch her debunking videos 😂
And it seemed to work, she got on trending 😂
she’s the absolute BEST
Number 4 will shock you!
Content farm: *has billions and billions of views*
Me: *has never heard of any of them*
🤔
Just means you're in the right place☺
How? Just wow O.o
Almost like all of the views are bots, bet.
@@GOFFBITZH666 That was my first thought tbh
Same, OP. Do you click on those kinds of videos?
If not, maybe youtube has figured out it can't serve you adds on what you don't click.
I used to get clickbait more often (it's rare now) my guess is it knows there are easier ways to get my eyeball money than to recommend clickbait.
but seriously why is this allowed? those farms i mean...it's so annoying
Money
All those views add up to make some serious ad money for RUclips. RUclips isn’t going to give that up.
Kids. Most of their viewers are kids. It's kid friendly (well, most of it ANYWAY *cough* bleached strawberries *cough* skittles vodka *cough* ) and colorful.
Karen Ramnath RUclips isn’t going to give it up, is because they make money from them too. Content farms are the reason that RUclips has the amount of money that it does. Soo, they let it slide.
Dosh.
