your my dream job zoe, i swear this video brought me closer to you. But actually, since i know me, my dream is to become an entrepreneur in the marijuana business. On paper my idea is solid, but since I have to do everything myself its going to take some hustling and lots of dashing (doordashing that is). But once i become a millionaire I'll probably be able to overcome the self that I know all to well and land my real dream job! haha
I wanna finally get my break in the animation industry. I've tried to apply to everything big and small companies that falls into my realm of 2-d and pre-production work, but no dice.... I just wanna have a chance, but everyone wants someone that has had many years of professional experience and doesn't want a newbie like me. I wanna help art come to life and create more art with a medium I love so deeply ❤
Stability is the truly underrated side of a 9-5. I spent so many years dreaming of breaking into the animation industry in LA, and having all this creative freedom, but as I got closer to graduating and learning more about my peer's entry into the industry I completely turned away from that idea and how tumultuous it seemed with no health care, short contract jobs, always having to hustle your portfolio for the next gig. I somehow ended up working on merchandise development at an animation studio, so while I get surrounded by all this creativity and animation culture I still get my stable job! It can get boring sometimes, but I'd rather take the boredom over the hustle and be creative on my own terms on the side.
I completely agree with this. Stability first, to fund your own creative stuff. It also means that you're fully in control of what you make, and not fully dependent to a client's brief.
Same! i finished a dancing college and wanted to become a fulltime dancer. But realised it is such a hard industry to stay stable in money. Some dancers can barely pay their bills. So i decided to do a creative marketing & sales study after (cause it's easy to combine with anything, really). Definitely not regretting the choice i made. Kind of sad that i can't spend as much time on my craft as i want to right now (imagine going from 35 hours a week of dancing to only 5/8 hours of dancing a week). But i'm almost graduated and promised myself to fulfill some dancing goals such as doing dancing history research in Japan and USA/New York.
As someone trying to balance my 9 to 5 with an artistic side hustle, I really love watching videos like this. I've been feeling a bit uninspired with my work lately too, and it was encouraging to hear your perspective on this ❤
That's honestly such a nice, aesthetic and cozy looking office. I personally can't work from home, too distracting, and don't really have a proper work space so I prefer to work in an office. I think corporate companies need to start making their office work space more comfortable and inviting rather than all grey, white and sterile vibe.
I tell you why we have so many grumpy and angry people . The worst feeling is when one is out of place in society . If everyone would be engaged in a job according to one's niche, talents, and comfortable salary, no one would be angry. So many people work on the jobs just to make a living . They might hate their job and daydream on what they really want to do in life . But, that career is out of reach .
the idea of finding a dream job stressed me out because I genuinely cannot predict what i will actually love doing 8 or more hours a day. I instead focused on finding a job that would give me financial security and would be in demand for the perceivable future (even with AI) Im graduating this year with an associate in cyber security
I'm gen z (20f), and I've been working remotely in tech for almost a year now, and even though I'm still on the way to my degree, the work I do is very much connected to my major. I love the feeling of fulfillment, stability and freedom my job gives me (like the ability to work whenever I want and having my own money that I can spend on whatever I choose to). But the most important thing for me is that I feel like what I do is important and essential for someone, and I've never had such a feeling before. I'm not useless anymore. The job, even though it's sometimes stressful and gives me a ton of anxiety (that's the fault of my imposter syndrome though), significantly improved my satisfaction in life and provided the reason to live

If you love going to the gym, your consumption habits now will keep you in there without pain for longer.

You had already briefly mentioned your job in the past but I really liked to hear you talk more about it. The video title kinda reminded me of something that I am struggling with. So my parents want me to be in the technology field doing computer programming as a career but it isn’t something I have been interested in. During the summer of 2023 my dad opened up an account for me to take computer programming courses online and I would take these courses for hours a day knowing I have little to no interest in what I was learning. I told my mom that I wasn’t into computer programming but she just wouldn’t really listen, she will be like “Why don’t you wanna do this? Didn’t you know your dad’s friend became a millionaire because he was a computer programmer.” Basically, she would persuade me into doing it even though she knew I wasn’t into it and pressure me to take interest. I told my mom that I was more into being a psychologist and she would always make me feel guilty for it. Any advice?
Sit down with your parents and explain to both of them or ventures, make sure you can show progress or in-depth knowledge in psychology to hopefully convince them you know your stuff. But still, relay to them that you'll keep computer programming as a backup (can't have those classes/money going to waste). Results may vary depending on "ethnic" your parents are
I'm a software engineer, I don't hate it but it's not a fun job and never will be. Unless you're hardwired to get enjoyment from problem solving it's gonna suck. Money is getting worse as the market is becoming oversaturated. Also chasing money isn't really worth it, you can live comfortably once you hit a certain wage. If psychology is something you have way more passion for I'd definitely recommend pursuing that.
@@racks8885 I work in the field as well but only for money and once I save up enough I plan to move to more a affordable country then pursue stuff I actually like
Thanks for sharing it with us! it's insane how little people are at the office preferring to work remotely, your office is such a nice place, absolutely worth visiting everyday
This is perfect timing as I'm starting my first full-time job next week! I graduated in 2022 with a journalism degree, and have struggled to find full-time work since (I live in quite a rural area with few job opportunities and fully remote jobs are crazily competitive). Finally, I've landed a job which is in person, but only 15 minutes away. It's a sales admin job for a company that really aligns with my values amd produces work that I respect. Deep down, I never thought I'd really end up in journalism/writing. I don't feel like I could be creative for a living, so I think an office job with set tasks and a purpose will suit me well. However, my degree showed the employer that I have transferrable skills (such as communication, attention to detail and working under pressure) that helped me get this job. To anyone also struggling with their job search, don't give up! The right job is out there waiting for you, and once you get it, it won't matter if it took you longer to find it than the people around you. Just relax and let your own path unfold.
Wow, I also graduated class of 2022 in journalism..but I have yet to receive a full time “big girl job”. I hope I can get there soon. But your words are comforting!
@@user-ez2ez3dd4g Glad to help! You'll get there when the time is right. Also, a couple of people I graduated with got journalism jobs straight out of uni, but one got laid off a few months ago and ended up back in the same position as me, and another hates her job and is hunting for a different one. This is just more proof that how long it takes to get that first job doesn't really matter and the journey is rarely linear.
I recently completed my 10th std and now I have to think about my future and what I have to do and what I want to be in the future. All the summer break I have been stressing about what I should choose how I should choose and many other things. When i put forth my interest in arts my family denied like strongly denied they didn't talk to me for like 2 weeks just because they wanted me to choose science and not arts. So i have to now do things that they like and not what I like it's been stressful and the number of mental breakdowns are more then I had in my board exams. Seeing this I really feel motivated and light and hopefull that even if I do smt wrong I can be independent and still be happy. I really thank you for yhis video I really feel like this was made for me❤❤

I am currently trying to figure out what do I want to study in uni after finishingg highschool in two years. I have been considering choosing business economics or business management major and this video just motivates me so much
0:40 off the bat, I'm starting to have an anxiety attack: I never worked a corporate job, but a teacher who's present at their desk by 7am, I'm having a hard time even beginning this video from the overwhelming grief these jobs cause :(
I know it’s not that type of video, but I just don’t know what to do with this. I’m a 15 years old girl, who is graduating soon and apparently entering university soon. But I have no idea what to do with life. Whom to be, where to work and live. I know chemistry really well, and I really want to become a chemical engineer or just something related to chemistry/science. But I’m afraid that it’s thing is not well paying, really competitive and not for females. My parents and friends tell me to become a designer, because it’s a “perspective” field. But I don’t want to become a designer, I know nothing about art and it’s just not for me. But because of this “influence” I started learning design and completely said no to chemistry. But now I feel like studying neither chemistry nor design. And I’m completely lost. Next year I already will be taking exams that will decide my future. But I don’t know. Plus, I want to move out of my country, but I don’t know where to go. It’s just I can’t 😫
Tech is a very abused & misused description when many basically type or design content for marketing, communications, or accounting merely using prevalent technology from a keyboard.
10:13 Maybe there are no women in engineering team, because... women don't want to work in such position? Everyone keep saying "diversity blah blah blah", and that there should be more women in tech without even pausing that maybe there are reasons in the first place why there's less women there. Marketing/sales/HR/management/legal etc. is where there are "soft" skills problems to solve - that's why there are so many women in these departments. Meanwhile real engineering, esp. software engineering, is crazy and requires creating the actual product, as well as fixing all issues with it. Being creative and passionate won't help much then. Also what Zoe's does, as in, what's her title is marketing engineer (and she majored in economics). And based on this video, she clearly doesn't understand (and doesn't want to understand) how much work engineering takes.
I have a baccalaureate degree this year and I have an average grade point average and I want to be one of the distinguished ones 😩🥺🕊️💗 Any advice please, there is not much left, just a few days,🌝💝

I am currently trying to figure out what do I want to study in uni after finishingg highschool in two years. I have been considering choosing business economics or business management major and this video just motivates me so much
Do something technical quick. Get a good job and then go back to school. I spent 10 years getting a bachelor’s and still deliver food.
Thank u zoe for making PayPal honey ads the least annoying ad I get lololol

discord notification sound made me shake every time theres a new topic in the list
I have never been this early omg 🧍🏽♀️
Can anyone plz tell or even zoe that which accent of english u speaks.....plz someone 😶🌫️
notion is sooo great
DAMNN I’M EARLY lobe you zoe
Are you working for a Canadian company or a US company? If it's the US company, are you using the TN visa? Thx! >333
Tech is a very abused & misused description when many basically type or design content for marketing, communications, or accounting merely using prevalent technology from a keyboard.
the "non-software engineering" is mind shift
wow, i’m early?! *also yh work is tiring but honestly im happy to have a job :D
Love this.. I too am a tech and marketing professional. Subscribed (=
Whaaat first comment 🎉 love to read the comments, tho, so I am a itsybitsy sad. Haha.
star!
WOAH WHY AM I SO EARLY
How did you get into it without marketing degree?
This is definitely the most unrealistic video about the life of a growth marketeer, especially in PayPal.
oh you have a Brittany Pietsch job
waits corporate jobs in the US look like that?!
what backpack do you use for work!
I have a baccalaureate degree this year and I have an average grade point average and I want to be one of the distinguished ones 😩🥺🕊️💗 Any advice please, there is not much left, just a few days,🌝💝
Hi Zoe ! I've discovered your channel not too long ago and I love your content. However would you mind not using the discord notification sound as a SFX for your videos anymore ? I just realized it was your videos and not me receiving random ghost messages on Discord. 😄Love your channel, you're really inspiring for me as a woman in tech myself !
Y'all in your 20 right?
I wish I had a job
To do a PhD is literally getting paid to go to grad school
11:07 Work in fast food for a day or better yet a week and you'll appreciate it real REAL quick.
Software engineering will die in couple years anyway. So no reason to work in the area now.
❤❤❤❤❤
Is this sponsored by honey? :)
