  • Latest work done on an outstanding Klingon Bird of Prey Studio scale replica.
    The model is a superb rendition of the actual studio version used in "the search for spock" made by www.nicenmodeld...
    It took about a month to scratch build all the landing gear and retro fit it to an already built model, which was no small undertaking on this very expensive piece. The paint job was done to finish it off using as many references as possible, but the main brief was to have the colours bright as shown in a beauty shot image of the real thing, so its a little more vibrant than the original paint scheme, whilst following 90% of the weathering marks on the prop. It took a while but its finally finished and should be back home with its lucky owner soon.
    Thanks for watching all.

    Absolutely stunning!
    I have chased lots of references of the BOP and I'm stunned to find this 7 year old vid. I have searched RUclips many times and never came across this in the results. YT's algorithms used to deliver content is a joke, it gives more repeats than actual in topic search results.

      Thank you sir. Ref for this is a bit tricky, but its all out there if google will let you find it ;-). This is pretty accurate to the filming miniature with the bright colours and strange airbrush markings. You tube always seem to promote "new" content, leaving all the old gems hidden and hard to find. Thanks for checking the videos out. :-)

    Thanks for the comments everyone. I am proud to say that this Bird of Prey model is now doing the rounds with the "Destination Star Trek" conventions. If you fancy seeing it in the flesh, that's where it will be. I cant guarantee it will be in the same condition now, as traveling and setting up the model can take its toll.

    Impressive. I had recently picked up the AMT 50th anniversary model, and do believe I am going to follow your lead on this. It came with the landing gear, which are supported with what looks to be pewter struts. I also have the "Generations" release...looking forward to assembling that one, too.

    Thanks for the comments guys, it came together really well in the end. If your interested, there's a mod and repaint thread (address below). It shows the reference image the client wanted replicating which explains the brighter blue than normal, although the camera shows it really vivid unfortunately, www.therpf.com/showthread.php?t=256667

    Can you quickly explain how you did the red feather painting on the undersides of the wings? I mean, did you paint it red first and then go back and detail the black lines in between for depth and accent? Or did you paint them all black and then go over the top and do the red last? Or is there a better way that either of the 2 I mentioned.

    From where did you know how to construct the landing gear? Is there a construction scheme somewhere available? I only owns a 1/350 scale version of the BOP, but I would love to have landing gears as well. May you can help me with pictures, blueprints or anything which is helpful? Thanks in advance :-) Ringo.

      Cheers Nicholas. Client wanted it as it landing, so before it got the bounty graffitti treatment. I don't have the model now, but i think it still does the rounds and is on display at the Destination Star Trek conventions. I only have stills of it lit, ill do a vid for that one day.

  • @godzillazumagod9146

    I said all that to say this. If you know where i can get one that does exactly that i would like to know(hovers, flips around and flies...ect... It's possible. So don't stop. Guess who you got that from?

  • @godzillazumagod9146
    @godzillazumagod9146 7 лет назад

    This craft also flies backwards and is able to cloak. On a US radar screen the klingon bird of prey looks like a Cessna when flying like this-because it hovers it can seem slow not a jet. It raises its wings till they are above the cockpit. As you see they are the same cross section as a Cesna cab under wing propeller aircraft( not even a target for the white house. That is when its pulse jets are working-sounds like a propeller plane when when its flying by you at 15mph. Sounds like a jet aircraft when it is maneuvering in the atmosphere (purely hovering). It moves gyroscopic ally and i seen it ya in one place 270 degrees and then point its back toward the front directly at me and fly right past me looking like a Cesna and sounding like one but traveling at a hover able speed. Keep it clean. Clean-on so you know God is not clean. Second place is clean. I see a next. So clean on and play all you want. Who does that?

    • @timsgta
      @timsgta 4 года назад

      Dude, you are comparing fantasy to a Cessna? Furthermore as per the context of the series, the BOP was UNDETECTABLE while cloaked on advanced federation sensors. What in the blue blazes makes you think our feeble radar would detect it as a Cessna? Our radar wouldn't pick up shit...

    • @timsgta
      @timsgta 4 года назад

      An also what are you on about? Your ramblings are hard to comprehend.

  • @godzillazumagod9146
    @godzillazumagod9146 7 лет назад

    So you know the Klingon Bird of Prey is a real space ship. That red bar in the front is a pulse jet. The back of space craft has a Rolls Royce Pegasus jet engine (for comparison). In space the pulse jet works probably on hydrogen. It appears that a quad-copter placed for the center of gravity it will fly. This model with no modifications will fly with just a simple motor placed for its push. The working model has been removed from the internet because what else flies straight from star trek? So what is it? Air craft? So where? This model looks very complete. Tell me where the flying model can be seen on the internet.
