Imagine a miniseries covering the stories of the original Kahless. Not the clone.
Someone pointed out how few Star Trek series there are about non-Federation species. This gets me thinking how awesome a Kahless series would be.
im planning on doing a 'rise of empire' series for the klingons. set during the 21st and 22nd century.

Funny thing, there is a Kahless novel by Michael Jan Friedman. It basically turned Kahless into Klingon Ciaphas Cain.
Klingon ships are probably my favorite vessels in Star Trek, and I honestly hope you find another ship or series of ships to make a video on. I suppose the obvious next choice is the Raptor, which I see as analogous to something like a destroyer or a light/protected cruiser (whereas the Bird-of-Prey is a torpedo boat/corvette/frigate equivalent). The main issue, of course, is that the only Alpha canon Raptors showed up in Enterprise. That said, you could argue the K'Vort might fit into this category too, and there's a number of Beta canon designs from FASA and STO that you could look at too.
Regarding the warp drive, the Haynes Technical Manual for the Rotarran describes the wings themselves as being the generation point for the warp field, and the wing positions being kept level for warp flight cruising, lowered for combat, and raised for landing. The reason for lowering the wings is to alter the plasma flow to increase the disruptor power in that configuration.
Not to mention when you’re using 80-100% warp core power for warp speeds you’ll want the warp field as far as you can have it from you crewed areas. So the best config would be wings level.
I like to think of the Discovery "Vulture" design's radical departure from conventional Klingon aesthetics as a failed attempt at mass producing a homogeneous Klingon "cloak" in the form of a highly stealth oriented craft (think of how the SR-71 "Blackbird" or Northrop Grumman B-2 Spirit depart from the conventions of military aircraft of their era), one that ultimately came up short against superior Federation sensors and proved more costly to continue producing, as opposed to retrofitting older designs with Romulan cloaking devices.
I can see it still jiving with the Romulan sympathiser theory, i.e.: The designer worked to make the ship over-engineered and aesthetically divergent to drive up shipbuilding costs and undermine Klingon martial tradition, and then, when that hiding to nothing ran it's course and the designer was found out, the High Command would be left with no choice but eat from the Romulans' hands and buy their cloaking tech anyway, lest they go on with no new ships at all.
Just my 2 cents towards how we might erase one of Discovery's many many afronts to continuity.
Discovery isn't Star Trek. It just adopts some of the same names and vocabulary.

absolutely although if you wanted a b'rel i think the empire was selling them like candy by the 24th century. i always imagined that before the dominion war the Klingons just had hundreds upon hundreds of mothballed B'rels and Ktingas waiting for reactivation. much like tank depots in post soviet russia.

The Bird of Prey is just my favorite ship in Star Trek. The accolades and number of accolades this thing has. To name afew, the BoP has two ships named Enterprise under its belt, pyrrich victories though. Kirk just took the BoP that forced him to blow up his ship, and the Duras BoP did not survive her engagement with 1701-D. Just an outstanding video.
I agree Enterprise-A was already half dead with it's battle with Khon and Enterprise-D's shield code was give to the lovely Klingon sisters. Both was cheap victories.
I love that the Bird of Prey especially the first one looks like it can be a future A-10 replacement.
yeah i mean the A-10 is a very klingon design in that its a flying tank.
Making the hull 3 times as thick, with a seperate warp core for shields and weapons....why Klingons havent thought of this is beyond me

My all time favorite ship class. This ship tops my wish list for the "If I could have one..." this would be it. Brell Clas.
for me too. it has everything. Enough space on board, reasonable weapons and a cloak. It has wings to aid in atmospheric maneuvers and can touchdown nearly everywhere. It is just the perfect renegade ship. upgrade its Cloak and drive systems and the ship can bring you everywhere you want without any enemy ever catching you. In fact it would make the perfect ship for the new picard series which is why i still hope they will use an Romulan BoP. A ship of similar size and Cloaking device. But i like the Klingon one in design over the Romulan.

The term _Bird of Prey_ was originally used to identify *_ROMULAN_* warships since a 'bird of prey' was painted on their ships ventral ('belly'/underside) surface. It ended up being used for the Klingon _Bre'el_ scoutship following script revisions of Star Trek: The Search for Spock.

I am surprised do not have Klingon Ships that is nothing but guns. A warp capable gun. That is all the ship is. One big weapon platform that is warp capable.

@@jpasby779 so the Pierre Droulet ship was designed for ITD but was rejected. so i felt like it deserved some love and i wanted to show where the BOP lineage starts. as for DISCO while season 2 may be an alternate timeline because of time travel, season 1 unfortunately isn't. and i think i made it quite clear how the Klingons regarded that whole affair.

Not sure I'd agree that the Defiant is a Federation bird of prey, I mean it's a small and powerful ship that can cloak yes but unlike a BoP it's not made from pure explodium, hell it has more shielding/armour than the average battle cruiser lol.
true but bear in mind when the two were built, the defiant is a very modern ship while the bird of prey at that point is nearly 90 years old. if the klingons built a modern BOP it would probably be on a similar level with the defiant.

little bit of B cannon as well as speculation. the way i look at it the BOP is the t-34 or Mig-21 of star trek. in the TNG episode 'Rascals' the ferengi even have some. so i think its fair to say they were exporting them quite a lot.

I always wondered with the numbers of ships captured, partially destroyed, or otherwise aquired, with cloaks why the Dominion did not integrate a cloak into their ships. Imagine a fleet of Jem'Hadar fighters with cloaks and the sheer chaos they could cause across a quadrant of space just doing strike and fade attacks all over ...
it could well be an issue of compatibility, the cloaks the romulans sold to the klingons was very primitive. but by the dominion war it may be that the cloaking device was so heavily intertwined with klingon tech that it couldn't be easily adapted to dominion systems. not to mention differences in doctrine.
@@venomgeekmedia9886 I 100% believe if the Jem'Hadar or Dominion Navy integrated a Romulan or Klingon cloak into a sub variant of their fighters doctrines would not only be adapted from Klingon tactics but Dominion tacticians would devise their own fearful methodologies think a Soveriegn class ship alone in the gamma quadrant suddenly is fighting ten or even twenty cloaked jem-hadar fighters even with some not bother to decloack and just ramming the poor unsuspecting vessel in the early stages of the engagement then in group of three the Jem'hader descend on the hapless sovereign firing fast and aggressive before slipping away. I don't think any Starfleet captain could deal with something so devastating. Victory is Life!
i think you underestimate just how complex and temperamental
a technology the cloaking device is. by the 24th century they have developed parallel to the races that use them for their different needs. at that point they aren't necessarily compatible with foreign designs. if the dominion wanted a cloak they would be building it from scratch, and the founders didn't feel it was worth the resources. after all if your ships are gonna go Kamikaze don't put expensive stuff onboard.
@@venomgeekmedia9886 and in half agreement with this statement considering four chagelings made it to earth and one was effectively Gowron's right hand man for three years it would be my belief they not only had both romulan and klingon variants but had the capability to mount them yet didn't see the need either through arrogance or exactly as you said. just seems like their MO to study and reverse engineer any potentially threatening technologies and render it useless against them if needed. still a scary thought giving these suicidal warriors cloaks

Yes I'm being an ass but I hate when people refer to star systems as Solar systems, they aren't, there's only 1 Solar system, ours, as that is the specific name of our star system, named after our sun which is called Sol, hence the Sol-ar system.
A star system is currently measure as 12 light years cube, and ours has 52 stars. Yet most stars are not bright enough to be seen without aid. Like our closest red sun is less then four light years away from Earth.
As for the current official name of Earth's sun/ solar system and our cubic star system, well .. that is still up for debate.
Since things are named in Latin, there is a difference between common noun and pro noun. There is the animal named .. fox, and there is a person named Fox.
Dirt/earth in Latin is called terra, the Earth in Latin named after the Roman goddess is called Terra., .. hence in sci-fi humans are called Terrians and not like in some older sci-fi called Earthlings. Then you have those who insist we are just called humans.

no mention of the romulan/klingon alliance which saw the exchange of 100+ d-12 cruisers and standard warp tech for the bird of prey design and cloaking tech...... this is a nice retelling of history but it seems to be a retcon, i hate those. the empire relyed on heavy ships with firepower they never had bop until 2263. and i never consider discovery as cannon
what about enterprise. because that predates the original bop. i will agree that for the most part Klingon doctrine relied on Battlecruisers until the 24th century, after which the BOP became the workhorse although that was largely down to economic reasons.
also i thought i did mention the tech exchange equally that is one thing the klingons might prefer to omit from their history.

Disco BoP tend to go pop in STO with any of the ships I use against them. They are only dangerous in numbers. I have more to worry about with a Old but standard Imperial BoP

not yet. i'll probably do a whole anti borg starfleet episode for that, and will look at that wider generation of ships. like the akira, steamrunner, norway, and sabre classes as well.
But, it was the Klingons who developed cloaking technologies that was shared with the Romulans. A decision the Klingons would later come to despair of.

thats not the case. the first Genuine Cloaking device is in TOS balance of Terror and it is Romulan. if your referring to DISCO (im not sure its considered prime timeline anymore) those are old romulan 'Sensor screens' which i explain in the Romulan Bird of Prey episode.
Regarding General Chang firing through the cloak its generally accepted that its the torpedoes that were modified to travel though it. and that went down with the ship.
And in the movie, apparently, the system cause madness in the crew.

@@venomgeekmedia9886 Ok, Midnight's Edge broke this down but there are currently three timelines that are defined legally which does matter and explains why Discovery isn't canon.
These timelines are:
1) Canon Timeline
2) Prime Timeline
3) Kelvin Timeline
Canon Timeline is everything from Original Star Trek to the Movie Nemesis that was made during that time. Canon doesn't include anything after the Dominion War except the events of Nemesis.
Prime timeline takes the Original timeline and adds Discovery and Picard to it. However, legally speaking, the creators don't have to tell you Prime isn't Cannon but, can blur the lines to make you think Prime is Cannon. Prime timeline is defined by the destruction of Romulus.
Kelvin timeline are the J.J. Abrams movies with Chris Pine and the center point of the Kelvin timeline is the Destruction of Vulcan.

I hate how modern trek did away with the Romulans being the ones who originally designed the BOP. NOT the Klingons.
Now the Klingons have ALWAYS had a bird of prey rather than being traded along with cloaking devices by Romulans.
This is where Enterprise failed for me despite enjoying parts of the stories.
