When I saw this film as a kid I always wondered how the wing missile pods worked without sum fudging. I saw a 3D model of it and finally it all clicked but seeing the work you’ve done really helped solidify that these were functionally possible. Beautiful work. Adam Savage would be impressed I’d imagine.
@@APmodels Hi Andy, you know your onions. I send you an email query on your concept snowspeeder. Love your matter of fact , down to earth delivery and your brilliant talent.
Mr. Preston’s skill & craftsmanship are next level. There are YT channels with 6 million subs based on flakey rubbish. IMHO, this channel deserves to blow-up with views & subs. Thanks for the excellent content. Spread the word fellow model / sci-fi fans! 🙂
Thank you so much, i am very humbled by this. I am trying my best, and i guess we shall see where the channel goes over time. Thanks again for the kind words :-)
Its interesting just how many 3d prints have no internal armature. I think designers could do with a lesson in making things strong enough to last. Good for me though, i get all the jobs reinforcing everything LOL. Thanks for checking it out. :-)
It's amazing! I've made a model of the Conestoga-class troop transport... a bit more than one meter long (1.20 meters) Unfortunately I still have to finish it. And my problem is that I don't know how to paint it. I have to learn.
I think the original colour used was Brown Bess I watch Adam Savage Tested and he mentions it on more than one occasion when he’s made props from the franchise. Nice work bud 😎👌
Great job man!! But I bet if ILM built this for the movie.. it would look hyper realistic. not like a big toy. the paint job they did and finish is .. not that great.. BUT you did a great job restoring it!
Cheers dude. I can only work with what i've got, if you know what i mean. Thank you for the kind words and bothering to comment, it's much appreciated.
Sadly after building the cockpit, front section (with pilots animated heads/arms), ramp and fully sprung landing gear I lost my 1/35th scratch build in one of my moves back in the 90's. I also lost the first "power loader" entered into a show in Oldham way back in the early 90's. Slowly rebuilding all my original traditional scratch builds as 3D models/resin prints this is on the list.....after the album cover from Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds.
"Ooooh laaaaaaaa" That's the part of the soundtrack that gave me nightmares as a kid! 👽😂 Interested to see your build. Best wishes and good luck from an armour maker. ⚒️
Either a really good replica or one of the two five foot shooting models from the Movie. The other was loaded with pyrotechnics and blown up. This would have had a small rc vehicle come drive out of the bottom back of the ship or was it the front.... I can't remember.
It was a decent size thats for sure. The model in the video is from Craggsmodels.com The APC came out from the front , after dropping down the bottom of the dropship like a ramp. Thanks for checking it out :-)
This is amazing. I would commission one but I was already scammed by a builder for the Nostromo to the tune of a lot of fukin money. So I'm very wary now. Nobody's fault but my own though on that one. Should've trusted my instincts.
Yes it can be a tricky place to suss out who's doing it right and who's not. I am sorry you lost your cash to someone who obviously didn't care what people thought, or their reputation. I'ss that kind of thing which kills any endeavours for the other trustworthy folk. I hope you receive a refund. Thank you once again for checking this out phrozac.
Yeah, same as the APC. Just no room in there LOL. But do we care, Aliens rules in my book of film greats. Thanks for checking the videos out Andrew. :-)
I would so love to have this huge Model as I think is the Best imagined Military aircraft with real models not CGI. Maybe Ok star wars comes First as a kid I watched Star Wars at the Cinema in 1978 I was 7 years old but as a kid I could not watch Alien's until many years later but bloody love this Drop ship Its just awesome Im so jealous of the size of it as I made plastic models kits many times smaller.
Did the client not want the front pods fixed? One isn't locked into the right position and the other is closed when it should be open if the winged pods are open.
The front guns were a bit of a mess thats for sure. The hinge mechanism really needed remaking to allow them to open fully. But as ever, time and money constraints put that bit in the bin. Sometimes you can get into a large rabbit hole of improvements, and it was decided to leave those until a later time. Thanks for checking it out :-)
@@APmodels Tell me about it, I'm making a one off Pulse rifle for a client who saw a long barrel all black pulse rifle and wants me to make it with a budge that.. well could buy a pencil let's say that, you did a awesome job on it I just wondered why you stopped there and well it makes sense now why. It's a shame I think the client would have been over the moon if he or she had spent a little more and had gotten you to fix those pods.
A brilliant restoration. I really like your folding wing solution. 😎😎😎
Many thanks!
Seeing this level of work and commitment from a regular guy and not a manufacturer is almost unbelievable. Wonderful job sir.
Thank you Pinky. :-)
Big boy's toys - a 5ft model and a laser cutter that can handle metal that thick! 😮 As always, a really amazing job Andy 👏 👍😀
I farm out the metal to a very large laser cutter, I wouldn't get it in my garage :-). Thanks for checking it out.
Beautiful work Andy!
Thank you .

BRAVO ! GOOD SIR 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥💯
A nice solid model now!!
Yes indeed, those wings aren't going anywhere. Thanks for checking it out
Great deep Dive into a classic reconstruction job, thanks for explaining some of the tools too, very little of that on build channels.
Love this ship man.... Never see it like this size.... great job
Thank you sir. It's a Craggs model from Australia if you fancy checking them out. :-)
Superb Andy. The Aliens Dropshit is iconic and one of my favorite Future Military designs.
Yeah, its one of the coolest designs in film. such a great visual opening out the pods. Thanks for checking it out.
Brilliant video as ever Andy, great job looks superb
Thank you Wayne. :-)
Great restoration work, and an interesting model to work on. I'm slightly amazed that it didn't already have some existing internal supports.

Beautiful repair!!!
Fantastic job and patience I would have left it for a while 😊
Excellence as always, Andy!
Thank you. More coming :-)
Brilliant work as usual. I only recently discovered your channel, it's inspiring.
Thanks. Ill keep on trying to get folk to build. :-)
Just checked Craggs. These models are SEVERAL thousands of dollars each. There's this dropship, The Sulaco, The Nostromo, etc...
Yes sir, these things are worth looking after as best you can. Thanks for checking out the vids TonyBMan

Also, if I want, eventually, to make a Cheyenne dropship of my model, I should make it of almost 4 centimeters long.
That's a challenge. 🤔

Thanks Stuart. Ive seen the vids. The original is very different to this model thats for sure.
who built the original? Ive never seen this

I'm assuming youve been commissioned to do this refurb, by the prop store of London (who at one point were based in Little Chalfont Buckinghamshire.)
No sir, it was a rebuild for a collector. The model is from Craggs models in Australia. Thanks for checking it out. :-)
So is this the movie model prop or a replica?
This is a replica made by Craggs models. :-) Thanks for checking it out .
Pretty much what happened to the one in the movie lol😂
Yep. i thought the same thing when i saw it in bits. Thanks for checking it out.
This is amazing...can i have it? Regards.
HAHA, nope. ;-). If the client want so sell it i guess it could happen. Check out Craggs models in OZ. Thanks for checking it out.
Andy soul skates Neil here loving your work , just finished on the new star wars , can we get in touch been a long time

Cracking video AP. Loved the tunes too. Reminded me of a Megadog 🎵 Those Alien samples made me “Get off him you BITCH!”👽👾🛸
Thanks man. :-)
I love the Cheyenne Dropship, but it's dimensions make it too large for assault, and it's too small to carry it's claimed load.
