I think you can see in this video already that Carrie Henn felt that the show business wasn't for her. She went on to become an accomplished school teacher, which is testament to the fact that you should follow your own way in life.
Carrie Henn is an incredible human being and an amazing child actress. Her character honestly deserved so much more than whatever Alien³ was. Newt could have easily been just as iconic to the Alien franchise as John Connor is to the Terminator one.
Although Henn left acting and became a school teacher, she attended the 30th Anniversary Comic-Con in San Diego with the cast and in 2020 was the lead voice-over character in the animated adventure Thunder Island. She is also active on Twitter and loves being remembered by Aliens fans.
@@ur1el554 Aliens was her only acting credit. I'd heard she later became a school teacher, but you probably already heard that she'd done a little acting work as a child in a major motion picture . . . There is a short interview that Kevin Smith did with her at the 2016 San Diego Comic Con on her IMDb page . . .
Carrie has on a lot of makeup as Newt who is the "crazy sole survivor in a ventilation duct after months of hiding from the monsters". She doesn't here and so looks normal.
The way the space marines got slaughtered made no sense. And the fact they weren’t briefed on what they were facing and the poor discipline…they were a terrible bunch of marines.
as a brit I always thought she were english because I could hear it in her accent but just read she's american but spent her childhood in england, she should have been in more movies!
All about the money. The suits at Fox didn't want to pay Michael Biehn or Henn. They were written out of Alien 3. The whole shoot of Alien 3 was a dog's breakfast for director Fincher due to meddling from management.
Carrie seems like a typical actor, very bold when reading lines but quiet and shy when using her own words, although being on a TV show is probably pretty intimidating.
Carrie is surely due some credit. A lot. Because if her character hadn't worked, the whole movie would've been dragged down by it. I hope they never told her that 🙂. But due credit MUST also go to Cameron and his team. To get that kind of performance out of a kid who has never acted professionally before, requires a very special kind of talent which some directors have (Richard Donner) and some do not (George Lucas). Working with kids well, and getting this kind of performance out of them, is a gift. Spielberg is another that clearly knows how to work with kids.
Thanks so much for sharing this. It's damn near impossible to stumble across old stuff like this online even though people assume everything is easy to come by on the internet. I bet even GMA doesn't keep these old tapes. It's rare to see the kind of authenticity they shared on screen, rare enough that you take it for granted sometimes. Carrie was so young and uninitiated as an actor that she couldn't help but come across as a genuine little girl, and you can tell from the way Sigourney talks about it that it affected her own acting. And they shared that authenticity offscreen too. I was a few years younger than Carrie when the movie released, and it wasn't hard to see why she naturally gravitated to Sigourney because she's a legend. Yeah, I saw a dark R-rated sci-fi action horror film as young boy (80s kids were built different, haha) and in some sense it was easier to relate to the intensity of the movie because it was like I was seeing the story through Carrie's perspective as a fellow kid, and I felt exactly the same way towards Ripley that Newt did. 🥰
If you had just turned this interview on without knowing the subject matter you’d think Ms Weaver and her daughter were being interviewed … Great relationship they have ..
I always have felt so identified with Newt (Carrie Henn) I mean we were the same age when this movie came out, I'm also from '76 like her, I always have liked Sigourney, although at that time I was just a child spellbounded with Star Wars
Never acted before and not since. The only role was playing the part to perfection in one of the greatest movies ever. Talk about going out on top at 10!
Even Sigourney Weaver thought Newt should be the next hero of the franchise. She's gone through horrors even Ripley could not imagine when she was just a child. And she survived. She deserved better than Alien 3. Alien 3 was a great movie in it's own way. But it's the worst that could happen for Aliens franchise.
I hear Carrie Henn had a lot of PTSD after this movie and she was very afraid of James Cameron. She said she told Cameron “You shouldn’t be allowed to do this to little children.”
I always thought that Ripley should've died after part 2 and the Newt character should've taken over the franchise as an adult. Maybe played by Sharon Stone in the 90's.
“They mostly come at night, mostly”.
Sigourney comes across as beautifully protective of Carrie, much as she was in her film role. Heartwarming sensitivity and bonding.
that is exactly what I was thinking and feeling! Sigourney is so super great all over and Carrie did so fantastic in her role
I heard Carrie Henn had a lot of bad PTSD from this movie.
I think you can see in this video already that Carrie Henn felt that the show business wasn't for her. She went on to become an accomplished school teacher, which is testament to the fact that you should follow your own way in life.
She wasn't exactly in love with the camera here.
After starring in one of the greatest action films of all time, where else are you gonna go?
She was smart enough to realize the deal satan was offering wasn't worth it
@@DREADEYE_KNIGHTyea honestly and fame for what?
Agreed, but she is still Newt. Now and forever. Her and Ripley.
Aliens is a masterpiece.
Hell yeah! 💯💯💥💥
Sigourney with her arm around Carrie looking at the interviewer like “stay classy”.
Lol yes
Sigourney is a class act! Carrie was great in Aliens.
Carrie was perfect for the role as Newt. She brought out the fierce maternal instinct in Ripley.
Carrie Henn is an incredible human being and an amazing child actress. Her character honestly deserved so much more than whatever Alien³ was. Newt could have easily been just as iconic to the Alien franchise as John Connor is to the Terminator one.
She had the opportunity to do more, but, as she got older she preferred teaching and pursued that instead.

Right she realized that satans hollywood "deal" wasn't worth it
What an adorable child, and a great success story in life.

Carrie is so innocently honest
this crazy lmao she was my 4th grade teacher 😂😂
I was little jose was honest too🥺
What about me...
So funny. She speaks in the same monotone as her character Newt 😜

she became a legend just with one movie
This young lady grew up to be a good teacher.
You could see that Sigourney Weaver was an exceptional Role Model for young Carrie Henn. 👍🏼👍🏼
She looks younger here somehow then when she did in the movie. Very soft-spoken little girl.
I thought the same.
Carrie has on a lot of makeup as Newt who is the "crazy sole survivor in a ventilation duct after months of hiding from the monsters". She doesn't here and so looks normal.

This is just heart melting. This film is a masterpiece
God bless Sigourney Weaver and Carrie Henn both of them did a wonderful job in Aliens (1986) directed by James Cameron as well:).
as a brit I always thought she were english because I could hear it in her accent but just read she's american but spent her childhood in england, she should have been in more movies!
From what I heard, she quit acting after aliens. 🤷♂️
She didn't want to sell her soul to satan is why
Wow, her first acting role! You wouldn't know it from the movie. She played Newt so well.
Best child actor / actress performance ever.
Wow, Carrie is just so quiet... She got out of Hollywood at the right time and made some great of herself by becoming a teacher.
Carrie Henn nailed that part - amazing contribution to the film - best scream ever! Odd to see how very shy she really is in this interview.
They did her dirty in aliens 3 and hicks too.
Right
Alen 3 an 4 were trash
Such wasted opportunities

Joan was super sweet with Carrie as well as Sigourney, of course. Lovely interview.
Sigourney is stunning as always and Carrie was amazing in Aliens!
Carrie seems like a typical actor, very bold when reading lines but quiet and shy when using her own words, although being on a TV show is probably pretty intimidating.
they sure don't make movies like they used to
John wick movies are pretty great though
I can see why they picked Carrie. Her timid and quiet demeanor suited her character well.
Newt is far from timid, she was simply wise from life experience.
Sigourney is the bomb without a doubt!!!!

What a film. One of the best all time
Good thing for Carrie that Aliens wasn't a Steven Speilberg production, and that Sigourney was there to look after her.
Indeed. RIP Heather O'Rourke. And the countless others we do not know by name...

tnx for record it was fun to watch their opinion of staging movie
Newt is really a childhood version of the woman who would become Ripley.
These are maidens of steel.

Alien 3 ain’t a movie, it’s a crime against all real movies.
Alien 3 sucked dude
And so did 4
So true. Fans do not want to see the entire cast die, especially the leads.
They mostly come at night... mostly.
Sig, please hug me with those arms ❤
I know i kinda want her to hug me too
And i hate hugging lmfao
Rebbeca Jorden looked so innocent as a child
Carrie still has some of her English accent in this interview.
Joan got the movie title perfectly. Bobbie Wygant kept calling the first one “The Alien”, Sigourney had the grace not to correct her.
... and bless her, she was too good for Hollywood.
Which could show 1985.12.14 ~ spring 1986(1986.3) could've been enough for Aliens' main theatrical section filming

Anyone know the jazz song at the beginning?
Ripley ant Nut are the best of the best in movies Aliens!❤❤❤
