Lot of love to Sigourney. Great actress on any role. She steblished an icon for all generations. A true Heroin for ages. An heroin you can believe because she´s not perfect. She´s wonderfully human.
Alien is a masterpiece, and Sigourney did a superb work in it. It's impossible not to remember her as Ellen Ripley in Ridley Scott (Alien) and James Cameron (Aliens) films. This nowadays 'big fish' buying all companies and trying to impose youngsters and ideologies everywhere should do us a favour and let them free again. Creativity should not be restricted by stupidity. Old school films surpass nowadays trash by far, and that is the main reason.
Sigourney Weaver is like my first early female hero that I love a lot. First screen for me I was a kid was terrifying couldn't sleep, I only think of Ripley to go to sleep LOL. I like how the left channel audio is a mic placed somewhere at the back of the room. It’s mostly just room noise. At 5:08 the right channel goes out forcing you to hear it for a second on it’s own. And again at 6:40, I think. And after 7:40 when the interview ends and the woman on the right starts doing b-cuts. Awesome to see. “It’s fascinating to see how these are done”
What a coincidence, @2:45, Sigourney talks about how the set pieces helped the actors with their jobs because of how real they were. And in the Alien: Romulus BTS interview with Cailee Spaeny, she said almost the exact same thing. 2 different actors playing the lead role in an Alien movie saying almost the exact same thing 45 years apart. Really speaks volumes about the sets of the movies and why its so iconic. Also @3:44, she never took out a "heroine playbook" and she's "never played a heroine role before" is why future films cannot replicate Alien - because Ripley is not a hero from the get-go. She was not promoted as one, or even hinted in the early part of the film; in fact, she came off as a Karen but turned out to be a hero. Apart from AvP, other films put the heroes front and center and we already expect Ripley to be the hero, so there is no unexpected-ness of the supposed side character being the hero in the end.

SO beautiful! What a legend.
It is fascinating to see how these are done.
Great interview, thanks for posting.
This entire interview setup is so oddly plain and pleasant in contrast to the sheer visceral dark horror of the movie, it's like being at your grandmas house and discussing the finer points of Hellraiser over a pot of tea and some shortbread
this comment made me laugh so much thank you
She's so amazingly wonderful.
Amazing actress, and a beautiful lady.
Back when female protagonist heroes were super fuckin badass. Love the whole cast of Alien but our sole survivor takes the cake!
Verdade hoje personagens femininos de ação são tão mal escritas
But, but, empowered women were invented by woke people just in the last year or two!

I think it speaks to Sigourney's talent that the role of Ripley was originally created for a man. Also, I loved that Gal Gadot and Brie Larson paid homage to Sigourney at this year's Oscar ceremony, for she unquestionably opened the genre to woman in a manner that had never been done before.
The Script left it open if Ripley is a man or woman, same goes for the rest of the cast. But yeah, she did a terrific Job. Very natural acting.
@@vivavideo-videofilmer The script was modified once the decision was made to cast a women. They would have never cast a man to risk his life to save the life of his cat.
@@thebigl156 The earliest draft of the script I've read -- one from when the title was still "STARBEAST" and all the characters were different -- states at the start that the cast of characters could be any gender. Said script was written well before Weaver was brought on for a screentest, so Ripley's gender wasn't decided upon because of Weaver - Ripley wasn't even a character in the early scripts.
@@dixonj41 I'm going on what Weaver said when she was promoting Aliens and not why she would have lied about such a detail. I also don't believe that any filmmaker in the late seventies would have a cast a man to risk his life to save his cat.
@@thebigl156 Weaver has also said that the chest-burster scene in the first film was all done in one take with none of the cast knowing what was going to happen. I like Sigourney, but she has lied for the sake of creating hype before.
Damn you YT. Now I have to rewatch Alien and Aliens tonight.
BTW, Sigourney was only paid $35k for Alien and $1m for Aliens., Alien grossed $185m and Aliens grossed $184m.
So basically
150k in todays money for alien
2.8 mill in todays money for aliens
Definitely underpaid
And 185 mill in 1979 is roughly 790 million in todays money for alien
And 184 mill in 1986 is roughly 520 mlll in todays money for aliens
Let’s take a moment to thank Jennifer Lawrence who paved the way for this young lady to lead in an action movie. Hopefully she will have a great career in movies.

Not only one of the greatest actresses but a stunner
Lot of love to Sigourney. Great actress on any role. She steblished an icon for all generations. A true Heroin for ages. An heroin you can believe because she´s not perfect. She´s wonderfully human.
This is fantastic.
I absolutely love the way Sigourney speaks.
D quality of d video is stunningly good. Thanx 4 this gem 👌
Fantastic actor. She was so cool 🙂
Very interesting....i am a great Alien Fan and also fan of Sigourney, very interesting footage.....thx uploading and best regards from Germany
“I’ve never been afraid of anything that wasn’t human.”
She hit the nail on the head there!
Then she never sat on a running SuperSport motorcycle ;)
She obviously hasn't spent much time in the woods or ocean lol
This voice....🥰
Her very first film and hit her mark. Historically fascinating.
awesome, thanks for posting this
Wow I need to start watching more of the old interviews, the way people spoke is so posh
People forget how frightening this movie was. It was revolutionary for science fiction and introduced millions of people to a new genre.
Sigourney Weaver is like my first early female hero that I love a lot. First screen for me I was a kid was terrifying couldn't sleep, I only think of Ripley to go to sleep LOL. Then she I rewatched it and then found myself a fan of Alien franchise, I love the xenomorphs too. When second movie came out my begged my parents to go see it, but they wouldn't let me, then my uncle cheeky understanding guy lend me a VHS that I can secretly watch. I get scared, tension and love all the characters, but the best parts are the Sigourney and the xenomorph.
Little did she know that she was becoming an Icon figure for a classic movie.
It’s so cute how she keeps touching her heart and bumping her lapel mic. Man. What a beauty.
Sigourney Weaver is one of the few Americans who has the gravitas of English royalty.

She's much cooler than that.
Indubitably.
Concur, the word debonair comes to mind despite her being a woman
What a beautiful woman ♀️👠
I always fancied her.
She is such a class act.
7:45 it was great after 50 years she dont change
So beautiful.
She's still as enthusiastic and youthful as he was in 1979. A sublime being.
Sigourney is a Brilliant Actress.
Bobbie is Magnificent.
OMG im just gushing shes so gorgeous gad shes so charismatic...just wow.
Very articulate Alien Ripley character interview & I'm equally impressed by her creatively choosing her own uniquely inspiring name when she was at middle school...🫡
Priceless
The F. Scott Fitzgerald novel Sigourney refers to that contains her name is "The Great Gatsby."
there's also Zigeunerweisen
