Learning Chinese for "the truth" is exactly what woke me up. We went to China and I saw people just doing what they were told despite them having different opinions and not really believing it. I learned Chinese and left the witnesses, best thing that ever happened 😂.

In very certain terms, Covington and Frederick Franz (then president of the WT) admitted that _all JWs must be wrong as a group_ in order to have enforced "unity". If WT is wrong, then every JW is expected to be wrong with them.
Being gay isn’t any kind of deal in the Bible: it’s same sex abuse, same sex incest and prostitution that are heavily criticised. Same sex LOVE wasn’t even on the radar back then.

Funny thing I saw a podcast on RUclips of a German psychology channel and one of the psychologist in there described the same behavior of himself as he was a child growing up as a JW!
I think a lot of children - if not all of them - are damaged for life in terms of their attachment style. It takes a great amount of self reflection and workmen that in order to heal.
I know, since I’m over 40 and still on it although I left 5 years ago.

That story about the white family serving in a Haitian congregation gave me “white savour” vibes. This is a trope in film or novels where black people are shown as needing a white person to come in and sort out their issues as if they couldn’t sort it out themselves

First of all, do what you want, it is your channel and you are doing great. For me, I need the borg sped up to 1.75 ish. They are so slow it works fine 95% of the time.

Omg the original song? Cringe fest! If we had ever decided to do that - create our owns songs, we’d have been counselled - we had to sing the kingdom melodies. The foreign language video, yes they are regretting encouraging whole families with teenagers to move to support the greater needs because it wakes them up. We had a load go to the sign language cong and so many left. Also note the way the wife is pictured with a headscarf in one scene and further on wearing her pinny to re emphasise her submissive role. Many a JW dub has woken up when they join ASL or another language. We had a few come back to English totally spent spiritually and mentally by the whole process. Very isolating. And notice how the audience laughed at the kids answer? He didn’t seem to feel it was funny. Not much in the social skills area for jws

@5:00 - I don't get the bit about the prophet and a king being killed. Jackson mumbles the end of his sentence but I'm rather sure he says: "...and it nearly cost him his life." So, Jehovah's prophet had said a king would be killed in battle, Jehoshaphat enters the battle with a 'target on his back' and gets away with it. Prophet or not I suppose that you would attract attention. But unless Jackson is offering up the fulfilment of that prophecy then it seems misapplied since it didn't come true in his case. Still a 'foolish' decision perhaps but hardly worth trying to bring those two bits of content together since clearly they don't apply.

It was slowly happening to me. It was combined with the pandemic where I finally had a chance to stop and really think about what and why I believe it.

I do not miss the camaraderie of JWs, actually, when I left the JW in 1997 I felt free and never looked back to their boring life, maybe its because, though I was raised as a JW, when I was 12 my oarent devorced and my father was disfellowishipped, and my mom and us children we were unofficially shunned.
We then left the JW, myself and I returned 12 years later, though my mom was back two years earlier than me. I think I had experience of both worlds and if you take indoctrination the “worldly” world for me was not suffocating because I could make my own informed decisions, though afriad of it due to indocrination. Whilst the JW seemed safe and protected, however, the elders, the WT and the GB had to make decisions for you.
Yes there were good moments of friendship, however, there were also in the “worldly” associations. I missed some of my JW friends for a while, but knowing that to have them meant that I will forever be unhappy made me let them go as I faded.

Lol, part of what primed me for leaving was trying to follow along jw teaching in my native language (___) .
My native language is not my first language though (English), & I had learnt the truth in English.
Spending time following the teachings a different language than I had originally learnt it, meant the emotional pull was not as strong... And I slowly drifted away.

I like that when you review another video, unlike other YTubers, you let it play a little before commenting. Sir Sic cuts people off mid sentence. He played a video where the speakers didn't even get to finish her very first sentence before he cuts her off. Then he speaks for a few minutes before continuing her video. He drags out a 3 minutes video by reviewing it for 2 hours. So I no longer watch his channel. Instead, I go find someone else who reviewed it.
