It is a rough road brother. My wife and family on her side are JW. It is so hard to see how blind they are, and how they cannot see the obvious false teachings the WT puts out. If I try to talk to them about any of those false teachings, then I am accused of "hating jehovah's witnesses". Keep the faith, with God, all things are possible. He ALONE is able to tear down man-made strongholds, whether physical, or mental, God is able to remove the scales from their eyes. It happened with my youngest daughter already, and now for the rest of them. Keep praying for your own peace. We can't change their minds, but the Holy Spirit will.

You always manage to outdo yourself, Eric. Your tie analogy made me laugh. A couple of Mormons showed up at my dad's door once and he asked them "If you could only keep one book would it be the Bible or the Book of Mormons?" The two young guys looked at each other unsure how to answer his question. They stuttered and stammered before finally saying in unison "The Book of Mormons." I don't know why but it surprised me that a JW would say the same thing about the Watchtower. A compelling presentation as usual. I'm watching it for the second time:-)

I hope you realize how appropriate this video was for laying out the reasoning on how new light should be viewed. Many years I would stop and think about whether I had the correct understanding as guided by the org. What a mess eh? Thank you. Why do I imagine the GB sitting around the table watching this video together? Imagine what would happen if the Watchtower ever changed its stance on blood transfusions. That would mean all the JWs (adults and children) who needed a life-saving blood transfusion died needlessly. The pain would be real for many families who followed that false teaching.
It would be ripe for lawsuits dating back 60 years.
I've mentioned this sort of stuff to my parents. They seem to have no reaction to it. The governing body is always right, even when they're wrong. Absolutely ridiculous.
Life saving like Dr faucci Bill Gates safe and effective job ( I am not JW had open heart surgery no blood ,if one thing JW got right is blood issue but people can believe whatever they want ).
@@hanparmenekse2300 If you get leukemia and refuse a blood transfusion it's a death sentence. It's not a matter of believing whatever you want. Some illnesses require it or you die.
Jw is the mirror of old catholic theology very much distorted: The 144,000 equal the Saints in the Catholic church. The 1,000 years in the New world is the theology of purgatory; in order to go to heaven still one has to purify his soul. It is so crazy: they attack the Catholic Church and then they use its theology up side down. Unfortunately they do not have theologians and great minds like St. Augustin, Thomas Aquinas, Francis of Assisi, St Anselm, etc., so they end up in utter stupidity.
I find it very disturbing that Watchtower’s lawyer in a court case in the States openly stated that the Watchtower society structures itself on the hierarchy of the Catholic Church, a religion that’s been the focus of countless Watchtower articles mocking their teachings and clergy! I couldn’t believe what I was hearing as he was in fact saying there was an authoritarian leadership in the JW religion comparable to the Pope of the Catholic Church…. that is, the GB. Who must be obeyed exactly in the way Catholics obey the Pope!

To be rejected by Christ as is spoken about in Luke 13 and Matt. 7 is a truly frightening prospect not only for JW’s but also to many so called Christians. It should be our prayer that such ones can wake up, repent, and come to Christ for eternal salvation while we are still in the age of grace.

As a study who was very devoted to studying the Bible and attending meetings, it bothered me greatly that a group of men would call themselves "anointed" and claim to be the only channel of God. I once asked my friend (an elder) this question: "What if the governing body members are wrong? I mean they are just humans like us". His answer was an emphatic NO. In other words, the GB members cannot get it wrong. They only feed us what Jesus gives them and Jesus gets all information from God. It thus pains me greatly to know that Jehovah who is the same yesterday, today, and forever can "give one message today, and then one hundred years later, come and say "oooh no, please disregard the message I gave you 100 years ago, this one here is the correct position". I remember having several disagreements on this matter of 1914. I have never been able to reconcile it with the events of Revelations 14, 15, and 16. Thank you, Erick. And please, as you have rightly said, while we may want to continue learning how the GB members are misleading their devotees, I think it is important that we get more edifying videos often.

The GB's arguments are wrong and presumptious, and they are set up AGAINST the knowledge of God. So,, Eric, in his videos, takes "captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ". He's espcially good at that. Not everyone has that gift.

I been doing tons of research and I even learned that the name they worship was created so now I need to know Gods real name or know what to call him. All these years I was mislead or brainwashed smh
When I realized that "Jehovah" is not God's name I was very concerned with finding his real name. The bible tells us to praise his name, call on his name etc. After many years I finally realized two things. 1. The way that the bible uses the word "name" is not as an "identifying sound", like we use it today. In the expressions "he made a name for himself" and "stop in the name of the law" the word name is referring to a reputation or characteristic. This is how the bible uses the word "name". When we call on the name of the Lord, we are calling on his characteristics. We're calling on his wisdom or strength or mercy, not an identifying sound. 2. The bible shows us that Jesus and his apostles referred to God as "God" and "Father." When teaching us to pray, Jesus showed us to address God as "heavenly Father." He did not tell us a "name" to call God. When we follow Jesus we become God's children and fellow heirs with Christ. It makes sense to call God "Father." This is what Jesus did and what he showed us. At Jeremiah 3:19 God himself expresses that he had wanted his people to call him "Father." It doesn't seem that God or Jesus ever revealed a "name" for God. However we are told that salvation comes from believing in Jesus and in fact Acts 4:12 says that salvation comes from no one else, only Jesus. So we should call God "father" and the only "name" we need to know is "Jesus" Hope this helps.

@@tiffanymurray5085 Hi Tiffany, I find your comment here very interesting because I too wonder about whether we as Christians should address God as Father in our prayers rather than by his divine name. I know that nobody knows the exact pronunciation of it but that is not important. What is important, is that God DID give us his name and as you learned as a JW the Tetragrammaton is in the Hebrew Scriptures 6973 times. Faithful men of old used it all the time, such as the prophets and King David. The verse in Is. 42:8 clearly tells us God’s name as does many other verses. THis is my favorite, it says, “ I am Jehovah. That is my name, and to no one else shall I give my own glory neither my praise to graven images.” Since we don’t see the Christians in Bible times using God’s name, I have to wonder why. Could it be that due to Christians coming into a Father, Son relationship like Jesus has with his father, that they can call on him in prayer as our Father. If that is the case then I should not address him by his name Jehovah or Jah in prayer but I can talk about him as Jehovah, refer to him as Jehovah if I want. It is hard for me to stop using his name because I am used to using it and because I am not sure that we shouldn’t. We were not told to stop using it and those faithful servants of God certainly used his Divine name & glorified it. I am praying about this as I continue to do my personal Bible studying so I can be sure .. I want my worship to be acceptable to God and to be a true Christian. It is quite a journey as we leave the dogmatic teachings of the WT organization.
@@carolwrinkles6204 If it is important to God that we use his name, Jesus would of course have made that clear to us. In the Lords prayer we are taught to address God as our Father. I suppose you don't use your dads name when you talk to your earthly father. In the NT Gods name is never used. JW believe that Gods name was in the original greek manuscripts but that the NT writings later were manipulated so Gods name was removed. But God has promised to preserve his word forever (Ps.12:6,7) so we can trust that he has. He can not lie and he is able to fulfill his promises. If God would have allowed his word to be tampered with, then also many other things could have been removed, and also added, and we wouldn't be able to trust his word. That the Bible can not be trusted is what we usually hear from Bible critics. When JW say that Gods holy word has been tampered with they are actually saying that God is laying, that he hasn't kept his promise, which of course is a very serious thing to say.
When talking about God it is not wrong to use the name Jehova, but talking to God in prayer we should say Father, as Jesus taught us to do. Rom 8:15 and Gal 4:6 also concerns this matter.

You’ve given me more insight, especially your point about God’s promise to preserve his word so of course he would continue to make sure down till our day that we have what we need in Hus word, the Bible. I agree now after some time, I was really researching and praying about the use of God‘s personal name in my prayers, I agree with you that I need to address him as my father, because I would never address my father by his personal name. It’s that, son, father or daughter father relationship that we can have now because of Jesus. The faithful ones of old that we read about in the Hebrew Scriptures, did not have that father son relationship so they could address him as Jehovah, or however, they pronounced his name. And, like you said, Jesus would have made it clear to us that we need to use his fathers personal name in our prayers. But he set the example of prayer by saying that we should say, “Our Father”

I must start by saying that you make great videos. Your content is well presented and highly thought-provoking. Literally one of the best in the ex-JW community. I follow your videos with much enthusiasm.
However, and for the first time, I have to disagree with you one point. Daniel 12:2 talks about a *two-parts resurrections*. One for righteous people, and the other for unrighteous people. While I think you are correct in your explanation of the resurrection of the righteous using Paul's letter to the Romans, your application of the resurrection of the unrighteous unto everlasting contempt doesn't seem to fit. This is particularly so if we apply the same principles used in Romans.
Resurrection requires that the individual be dead (whether physically or spiritually) first, then afterwards be raised to life. Baptism, as presented in the book of Romans, provides beautiful symbolism for spiritual death and subsequent resurrection in this respect.
How do/did the scribes and pharisees undergo dying and resurrection that led you to apply the second part of the resurrection at Daniel 12:2 to them? Bear in mind that you are saying (and I agree) that most of Daniel's prophesy had it's complete fulfillment in the first century, ushering in the end of the Jewish system of things.
I'd truly appreciate a response.
I think of the true meaning of resurrection means to stand or raise up. Christianity progressed due to followers took a stand, raised their new identity above and practiced openly the ways of the Christ & not Judaism. The Jewish religious leaders raised themselves up in defiance to the Christ & took the action against the Christ & those who identified as Christians (to judgement of condemnation)

They explain the parody of the rich man and Lazarus by showing that the death of each one represents a change of status. I've explained this false prophet issue to my mum so many times, pointing out how the JWs cannot be God's spokesperson on earth...she doesn't listen. This is how Christianity works. Always with a sense of urgency. Jesus taught this to keep people awake.
When Paul wrote to the Thessolonians, he told them that he (Paul) and the entire congregation of Thessolonia were to be brought up to heaven still alive.
Never did happen. Paul died in Rome and the congregation obviously died out.
Whether the end comes while we still live, or it comes at our death, either way, we have a short window of time to win God's favor.

I think you should give it a try. Maybe many will appreciate it, or maybe only a few will respond. If it doesn't work out the way you'd hoped, you can quit or even take down what you've posted. You don't have to limit yourself to pointing out flaws in Watchtower's massively flawed teachings. There are many areas of spirituality that deserve comment and discussion that no one is addressing online. How elders and ministerial servants functioned in the first century, under guidance of the holy spirit, would be one of these themes that merit examination.
@@vintage6346 yes this is very true thank you for the advice as far as the text they've used to point out that we have gifts in men when other very well known translations of Ephesians 4:8 clearly points out that gifts were GIVING to men. They know how to twist the truth and are counting that the rank in file won't the third homework of checking If it's true or not
once again you are on point, we have to keep in mind psalm 118: 8, 9, they need to stop reading those watchtowers and them books and start doing what acts 17:11 states.

Jw’s can realize that Watchtower doesn’t follow Jesus. They can partake of the emblems,... the bread and the wine. If they want to do this at the Kingdom Hall on April 15th this year, someone will need to bring extra bread and more than one bottle of wine. The elders are probably not prepared for everyone to partake.

One thing that says Jesus was king long before 1914, was that in hebrew 7, it compared melchizedek with Jesus and melchizedek was king of Salem, Salem is a abbreviation for Jerusalem and king of Salem, means king of peace and melchizedek means king of righteousness, so if the book hebrew 7 says Jesus is a high priest like melchizedek who blessed abraham in the book of genesis 14:18 to 20 and the meaning of melchizedek means king of righteousness and Jesus is like melchizedek after seeing the meaning of the name melchizedek then he had to be king way before 1914.
That's how I found the contradiction to 1914.

I could not agree more with your comments about being a channel = being a prophet. I have thought this since I was a child. I could never understand why no one else agreed with me.
I find it very hard to understand the lectures going back & forth about JW vs scripture. I understand why Jesus spent his ministry focused on truth vs what was being teached by the religious leaders how they diverted truth from law.
It must have been mentally exhausting for Eric to unravel Watchtower's tangled web. But he got it done, and I applaud him for that. We might have to watch the video twice or more to see all the "switch-a-roos" that the Society has fabricated. No wonder I always felt "unprepared" to defend Watchtower's teachings!

I've listened to many JW activist channels that are still believers in some way. The only difference is, I applied the critical thinking that got me out of the JW to the bible, theism, etc. It all fell apart rather quickly just like the JW stuff.

I woke up at the very end of 2018, slash, beginning of 2019. I read Crisis of Concience. As I transitioned to an awake state, I passed through a phase where I still felt a responsibility to not speak unkindly of Watchtower. It didn't take but another week or so to have all my anger at their abuse take its rightful place in my conscious recognition of their total lack of morality. 32:04 I have a sincere question. JW's have taught that the resurrection of the socalled righteous and unrighteous would be resurrected "during" the 1000 year reign. Rev 20: 4& 5 speaks of the resurrections and if the text is interpreted with exegesis, then it seems the second resurrection does not occur until after the 1000 year reign of Christ. 1 Cor. 15:22-24 describes the order of the resurrections as well and backs this idea up. I am very curious what you think about this. Please respond.
I agree the Holy spirit can guide our understanding of the scriptures. All we need to do is pray for God's Holy spirit to interpret the scriptures. It works every time.

The earthly resurrection of which you speak is the resurrection to judgment. These together with Armageddon survivors will constitute the subjects of the kingdom.

God's word never changes, but the Bible we use, like the KJV, are "versions" that is translations.

But you know that Jehovah's witnesses also speak about another category of people, the wicked, according to Psalm 37:10. What is your analysis on this, please? Will those who willfully reject the word of God now return to the resurrection of the unrighteous, or do they die today forever?
@ darby darby - You bring up an interesting question. Thank you. The Bible does not make three distinct categories of people like the Watch Tower does. Looking at three scripture sets we can see that the term unrighteous is interchanged with the term wicked. The original Greek word can mean unrighteous, unjust, and wicked. Here are three examples:"
2 Thes 1:6-10 "After all, it is only right for God to repay with affliction those who afflict you, and to grant relief to you who are oppressed and to us as well. This will take place when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels in blazing fire, inflicting vengeance on those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. They will suffer the penalty of eternal destruction, separated from the presence of the Lord and the glory of His might, on the day He comes to be glorified in His saints and regarded with wonder by all who have believed, including you who have believed our testimony." Here in contrast to the children of God who are persecuted by those causing tribulation we can think of false prophets, wolves in sheep's clothing, men dressed in robes of righteousness and the evil slave, for example, will suffer the penalty of eternal destruction. These appear to be anyone who willfully rejects the Spirit of God --and will not be spared the second death. However, as for the timing of when this destruction will occur we need to be very careful. The Bible doesn't say and we can't make things up like the WT and still remain loyal to our Heavenly Father.
There are two interesting sets of scriptures in Peter that are worth looking at as they show the interchangeable useage of wickedness and unrighteous with one Greek word. See the Greek Interlinear for 2 Peter 2:9-13 which reads in the BSB "If all this is so, then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials and to hold the UNRIGHTEOUS for punishment on the day of judgment. Such punishment is specially reserved for those who indulge the corrupt desires of the flesh and despise authority. Bold and self-willed, they are unafraid to slander glorious beings. Yet not even angels, though greater in strength and power, dare to bring such slanderous charges against them before the Lord. These men are like irrational animals, creatures of instinct, born to be captured and destroyed. They blaspheme in matters they do not understand, and like such creatures, they too will be destroyed. The harm they will suffer is the wages of their WICKEDNESS.
Also see 2 Peter 3:7 "And by that same word, the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men." [ungodly can be used interchangeably with wicked in the original Greek].
