Thanks Caleb, I really enjoy your videos! I am struggling with making friends, but I right away order that book about making friends. I actually find a set from that author and I bought them all! Thanks again. I left JWs over 3 years ago, and I am still struggling with severe anxiety and depression. And I realized there is only one thing worst for JWs than an apostate and that is a gay apostate and I am one of them! Cheers! 😉

The thing is, I don’t think covering up, hiding and failing to report pedos is an actual crime. It’s a moral one for sure but I don’t think it’s a legal one.

Excellent list of resources! Our experience included breaking down to the most basic fundamentals as possible. JW mindset is binary. The universe simply doesn’t support that. There was a propensity to search for “the truth”, which made us vulnerable to other cult-like structures & institutions, religious or otherwise. To that end, disconnection was essential for us. We needed to take time away from all input for awhile. Like the first time in the deep end of the pool, it was scary AF. However, our innate humanness is to survive & we eventually floated above to our own natural levels. This worked for us. You’ll find what works for you. No matter what, get on with *your* life as soon as possible. It’s way shorter than we were taught. 🤷‍♂️ IJS

I was DF'd this past April, and the part I'm finding most difficult at the moment is that a few of my family members still "only" soft shun me. I'd rather be left alone than be stuck in limbo, only partly being treated like a normal human being and family member.

"Walking free from the trauma of coercive, cultic and spiritual abuse, A workbook for recovery and growth" (2023) by Gillie Jenkinson I cannot recommend this book enough. The EXJW community NEEDS to find out about this book. When I reached out to ICSA (International Cultic Studies Association), and spoke with a longtime member, he gave me two important ideas: 1. any therapist can help you, but they need to be able to make a good relationship with you - it would be better to have a therapist who isn't a cult expert, than one who thinks they are a knowledgeable enough to coach you directly about cult recovery as it can be retraumatizing and ineffective. [Dunning-Kruger effect] (I personally had several bad therapist relationships due to finding out that they were closet Catholic, quietly and deeply right-wing, or firm believers in metaphysical or pseudoscientific nonsense. All the things I left the org over - instantly destroyed my trust in each of them, and taught me to "interview" therapists carefully) 2. The above mentioned book - it was written by an educated therapist with decades of experience helping people recover from exactly what the title describes. She wrote her thesis on cult recovery, and was herself a survivor of a christian therapy cult, which she joined after leaving another cult that she was in for many years. The book is based both on her actual lived experience, combined with years of training/education, producing a thesis on it that is several hundred pages long, and then working as a therapist for several decades, putting what she learned and studied into practice in 1 on 1 therapy. After a long career, she took the ideas/practices she developed over time into this book, a textbook-sized workbook that can be done alone or with a therapist (and is also designed for therapists) and will walk you through recovery. I myself am working through it. I've shared it's contents with a therapist I trust and they've echoed and seconded everything it has to say, as many of it applies to lots of types of survivors. (4) threat to lives to 1/4 of the Earth, which could mean lives of billions of human beings in danger per warning aired by climatologists likely to happen in 2030, that can also be found at Rev 6 7, 8. All these 4 are nowhere seen in 1914, and you are saying 1914 is the start of last days? You may argue that there is so called overlapping generations, but Jesus spoke of this generation and not these generations. Luk 21 32. Your explanations run counter to Paul's warning not to exceed from that which is written 1 Cor 4 6. You accuser of apostasy, you must not apostasize from pristine Christianity practised by the first century Christians

On previous videos concerning this topic I've gone into more depth as to why this is the case, but basically, you don't need therapy if you are autistic or autistic adjascent and it was logic rather than emotion that resulted in your leaving the group. If you weren't emotionally invested, you don't need emotional healing. It's an unnessesary trust risk that was literally what got you in a cult to begin with. That is why childhood indoctrination works, because children trust their teachers/parents implicitly. For therapy to work you have to have that level of honesty with the therapist, thus there it is a huge risk.

Once you leave the JWs you think you're sinning, after a while it starts to disappear. You have to tell yourself it was the best Choice for your mental health, the JW friends you left behind were conditional friends.

As a practical matter, not voting limits JWs power and ability to protect itself. I find it funny that they "shoot themselves in the foot" in this way. However, as an outsider, I'm glad they don't vote. Think about it: if they voted, they would probably vote like Christian nationalists/fundamentalists. We have enough problems with their ilk already....

I feel like ex-JWs should form their own organization where they organize seminars, webinars social support and even publications on why the JWs are wrong and now to help PIMOs escape.

Ironically liberalism is authoritarian. Using government to force people to do things. Using the will of the people to justify actions is authoritarianism by a different name. libertarianism is a philosophy with less authoritarianism. Liberals and Conservatives are opposite sides of the same coin

For me the two most important books were Leaving The Fold by Marlene Winnel and Crisis of Conscience. Leaving the Fold was vital because it helped dispell the idea that our experience was so unique that nobody else would understand us. She is the psychologist that coined the term Religious Trauma Syndrome. She does an excellent job of showing how damaging, manipulative, and high-control most conservative religions are. And they are. I was shocked to see similar her experience was to ours. It was eye opening and comforting to know that people from other faiths actually had similar experiences. The only real difference between JW and other conservative groups is doctrinal quibbles. The control and manipulation are all the same. They use the same toolbox and tools, with a slightly different color. She also gives some very good techniques for moving past the damage religion does. Excellent video

The hybrid Names derived from YHWH (~6800 times): "Jehovah" & sometimes (~300 times) "Jehovih" in the Masoretic Text of the Old Testament: This is how i understand it from the Masoretic scribal device of ketiv/qerē ("written"/"to be read"): The Name יהוה is normally pointed with vowels from 'ĂDŌNĀI (shəwa*-cholam-qamets ə-ō-ā) meant to be read as "ADONAI", not "Yəhovah". (the pointing is often incomplete, omitting the cholam ō, i suppose because the waw also does duty as the vowel letter ô\û). However, when The Name יהוה occurs direcly next to the Title 'Ădōnāi / אדני (Lord, in pluralis majestatis), it is pointed with vowels from 'Ĕlōhîm (shəwa*-cholam-chireq ə-ō-î) meant to be read as "Elohim", not "Yəhovih" (i suppose to avoid reading "Adonai ADONAI"), translated by the NIV as "the Sovereign LORD" (ex. Isai 48^16 [Adonai YHWH] ; Hab 3^19 [YHWH Adonai]). The construction אדני יהוה is very frequent in Ezekiel, where יהוה is pointed with vowels from 'Ĕlōhîm, (omitting the cholam ō), translated as the Lord GOD \ the Sovereign LORD. *the simple shəwa instead of the compound is normally used with the non-gutteral letter Yod (compound shəwa occurs on the Hebrew gutterals), although the compound shəwa chatef-segol (ultra-short ĕ) is used in some cases of pointing YHWH with the vowels from 'Ĕlōhîm.
