  • Heavy Sound Festival and Metallica Tribute on 12th June 2024 at Maeke-Blyde Hall in Poperinge, Belgium.
METALLICA MONUMENT REVEALED IN POPERINGE, BELGIUM.
History was written in Poperinge in 1984. Metallica played no less than three memorable shows there that same year, which had a huge impact on both their career and their fans. A milestone that was commemorated with a tribute on June 12, 2024 at the Maeke-Blyde hall.
A Metallica monument was revealed, a creation by Barry Raçon. Around 250 metalfans attended the inauguration and witnessed this magical moment first hand. A personal video message from the band members was shown in the Maeke-Blyde.
At the inauguration, the 45-piece choir Hopchora from Poperinge performed the song “Nothing Else Matters” by, how could it be otherwise, Metallica.
Furthermore the book ‘Heavy Sounds In The West’ by Hans Verbeke was presented. A must have for every true Heavy Metal fan.
And last but not least ‘Second Attack’, the second album by Belgian metal band Crossfire was re-released. This in attendance of original frontman Peter De Wint.
On Saturday 15th June 2024, a Heavy Sound Festival Tribute will take place at Maeke-Blyde, with Sanity’s Rage, Motorheat (tribute-band Motorhead), Ostrogoth en Magnetica (tribute-band Metallica).
