Originally recorded by Albert King for Stax Records with the backing of Booker T. & The MG's. Booker T Jones and William Bell wrote it for Albert. King was one of Eric Clapton's guitar heroes. Two decades later, Stevie Ray Vaughan recorded and performed live with Albert. Vaughan's cover of "The Sky is Crying" was a tribute to King.
Eric Clapton, Jack Bruce, Ginger Baker. Now you know why they said the "Cream" rises to the top. The first "Super Group" Thanks again my friend for another excellent Classic Rock Reaction.
yeah, in the early days, Clapton was really pure blues.....he could really lean into it. As good as he is along with Bruce's extraordinary vocal on this song, go back and pay attention to what Ginger Baker is playing....... really imaginative(imo)..... he's what makes this blues standard so unique
There is no tambourine on this song. You hear the drummer playing the bell of the cymbal (toward the center) which is part of most drum kits. Unfortunately, some engineers and producers have never heard live music so they EQ the cymbals into oblivion of nothingness. Because if one never went to a night club with good jazz or rock, the actual musical instruments may seem annoying or unnecessary. I disagree with that whole philosophy.

Albert could rock out with the best of them...I've always liked "Night Stomp" off of his 'Live Wire' 'Blues Power' album...
Cream was da stuff in my late teen years.

One of the best ever!!!! This song still gives me goosebumps.
A great cover of an Albert King song that Cream put their own stamp on
