STEVIE was probably the only person Albert let play with him, as in a interview with Stevie's brother Jimmy said when STEVIE was 17 he was the only one that had the courage to walk up and ask Albert to set in with them. Jimmy said Albert didn't like anybody, he didn't care who you were, even if you were B B King but he liked STEVIE RAY. You can see the love and admiration between those 2. STEVIE said in a interview that ALBERT said STEVIE was the only white man with a black daddy and he was him!💜💜💜

One last thing that blows my mind watching this is even as great as STEVIE RAY VAUGHN was he's so focused on Albert Albert he's almost in a trance. That's his Godfather, his greatest mentor 💜💜💜

Love this session...but sad too...Albert loved Stevie & Stevie loved Albert...yes i really like when Albert glances at Stevie an smirks like he knows he's seeing greatness & Stevie is off on another realm...he's left the room lol but when Albert plays or talks to him Stevie looks at him like a son who's hanging on every word of a dad he idolised.
Albert says during the session "you're good...but you gonna be better...an i'll be there watching..." like a proud daddy...so sad how Stevie died, noone saw it coming & Albert couldnt perform his concert the night he heard 'little Stevie' (thats what Albert called him) was killed 😔
    2 Greats...RIP 💞🤟🏼 United in love, jammin above x

Albert King was one of the true bluesman. He's one of the 3 Kings, Albert, B.B. & Freddie King. The whole show is incredible. I met an older guy a few years ago & he told me he used to be the head of the K.C. blues society & was the one that paid the performers after their show. When it came time to pay Albert, he laid a small pistol on the table & said make sure you count my money correctly.

I love this one. Stevie had so much love, admiration and respect for his idols. Albert King being at the top of that list. Would you please consider reacting to SRV Life Without You live from the Capitol Theater? You will see Stevie Ray lose a tooth towards the end and mouth to his crew off stage, “lost my tooth, gone”. And grin to show them. One of my most favorite SRV performances

As others have pointed out, Albert King was his own man and didn't cotton to a lot of these young bucks. But Stevie held his own with the blues legend at Antone's down in Austin and he became Stevie's friend and mentor. After Stevie's career caught fire and took off, he went back and bought Albert King a deluxe Madden Cruiser tour bus since the old man kept working till he died. That's the kind of guy Stevie was, apparently never forgetting where he came from and who got him to where he ended up going.

Fun Fact: The iconic riff comes from the original Albert King version. The back up band was Booker T and the MGs who came up with the driving riff. They had big crossover hits with Green Onions and Hip Hugger.

After 30 years I just learned that Mr. King not only played left handed but also strung his stings like it was upside down. His top fret was his bottom, re-watch it. Now that blew my mind.

    • @trappenweisseguy27

That’s why others could not bend strings like him. He could pull straight down with a lot of force with greater mechanical advantage.

  • @davemilk

Albert is quite the guitarist too, that dude learned to play a right handed guitar left handed. All the strings are reversed the high notes on top and the bass notes at the bottom. Blows my mind as 50 year old man who can barely play right handed.
