    Hello world!
    Welcome back to the D15B VTEC swapped Honda Civic EJ9!
    As we have mentioned, Georgia & I are heading to the Nürburgring in a few weeks, so we need to get this car up to standard. As with any other track day, it is vital to get the maintenance & repairs complete before modifying. Today we are tackling a common issue on the EJ/EK Civic chassis'; the lower engine mounts.
    Why replace when you can upgrade? Well, I used to live by this philosophy, unless we are talking daily drivers!
    I took a chance and ordered some billet engine mounts from eBay...What could possibly go wrong?
    In fairness, nothing really went wrong, but I learned there was a bigger sacrifice needed that I initially intended, to run these mounts!
    Uh oh...

      I have polybush engine mounts on my Mx5 but there aren't as bad as this! Lol

      @@accelerateyoutubeonly just watched. We would refer to these as torque mounts back in the day. Bin them off and get some hardened rubber proper engine mounts like Hardrace. I binned mine on my EK4 with standard engine mounts, not needed at all

    The best mount is to add poly bush insert to the rear mount on subframe in center stops engine rocking back and forth and is not harsh vibrations

      Ahhh, that makes sense. I will look into that.

    I also had that mount on my civic. It was literally shaking all the panels in the cabin, but after few months of using it started to lessen the vibration. 😅

    • @accelerateyoutube
      @accelerateyoutube  6 месяцев назад +1

      😂 that's exactly what mine was like! I have an Mx5 track car, and that doesn't seem to vibrate as much as this 😂
      I thought they might settle a bit, but I took them straight off lol
      Thank you for watching!

    Maybe drill afew holes in the polybush to add some flex or comfort mode lol

      😂😂 that's a genius idea, I actually want to try that lol

      @accelerateyoutube worth a try as they look a decent bit of kit, just to solid so afew holes to add flex but leave plenty of material between holes, plus I'm assuming they are still on the car and I'm sure it will help 👍

    Vibration has to go somewhere. The hardrace ones will have the same effect but not that hard. Hardrace ones good for track, not daily. There are some models inbetween tho.

    • @accelerateyoutube
      @accelerateyoutube  5 месяцев назад

      You are absolutely right. I was obviously a bit naive in thinking they wouldn't make that much of a difference lol
      I have competition spec engine mounts on my Mx5 track car, and they don't seem as harsh as these lol plus the fact there are 3 other mounts that are still rubber, that's what surprised me.
      They are a good product, but as you said, good for track use.
      Hardrace do seem to come highly recommended.
      Thank you for watching!

    could the transmission mount cause jerkiness too when coming off throttle. I had also shitty engine mount bushings, all of them. Replaced with oem and it made little difference but still jerkiness. More than usual when comparing to other civics. Didnt change transmission mount on the back of the engine because cant even see it if it is worn.

    • @accelerateyoutube
      @accelerateyoutube  6 месяцев назад

      It can contribute to jerkiness, but there are other things that can make the jerkiness worse unfortunately.
