I love how Serena, Blair and Nate are pissed about what Dan wrote while Chuck is just sitting back watching it all escalate.

I do feel sorry for Serena like why do people just assume she’s a selfish bitch? Because they like Blair more? There’s literally almost half of the show focusing on Serena and her insecurities, showing how people perceive her in a negative light and how she actually wants to be a good person but it just flew over people’s heads apparently

Serena is so full of herself. Blair was actually prepared to be the villain of the story and Serena got mad because he portrayed her very accurately.

@@liamcarrington7681 yeah but it's a book. If you sum up Serena from a literary point of view, she's just a pretty blonde who's rich and dates a lot. There's nothing else to add. Of course she expected more because they dated, but then it wouldn't be a book. It would be a poem or something...
She's not full of herself, if he knew her best he should have known that she became intentional about growing and living life seriously. She got a job to become responsible and not rely on a trust fund. She was mad that someone who cares about her portrayed her in a way that she doesn't want to relate to anymore. That's why she said "it's about how you wrote them".
He then explained that it was the point of his character to be shallow and judgemental. I still think he should have been more careful because his friends are affected still.
Most of what Dan wrote was true however he’s a jerk for treating his so called “friends” like that and just expecting his friends to accept and go along with all of there secrets being exposed in a book.
As opposed to Nate, who's pissed because he's NOT in the book (oh, the irony)

To be fair, he had no intention, that we know of, of publishing it. Vanessa stole the manuscript and started the process. Even if he didn't come forward as the writer, everyone and especially his friends would have had no problem unmasking the author immediately.

Everyone only read the pages that involves them, instead of reading the entire book. Dan made his own book character just as bad as everyone else . Dylan hunter was a judgemental prick, who skip’s job interviews and ends up completely alone. Serena’s character in dan’s book was based off not only her , but also Daisy from great gastby and other female characters in literature.
This was so stupid. Dan even said it was Fiction. And he didn't get to edit it. Vanessa submitted it unfinished so he couldn't go through it to decide what he wanted to keep or change. Yes characters were loosely based on people he knew but who cares? That's what writers do.
My friend wrote a story involving several of our friend group including me. Am I crack whore? No but it made a great story and it was kinda funny.
This whole plot just showed no one in Dan's life actually took the time to understand him or listen. Too self absorbed so it kinda made sense that he gave up on them in season six (though that whole season was a dumpster fire).
Gossip Girl Season 5 is one of the weirdest seasons of TV I’ve ever watched. It’s like the writers decided to make every character as unlikeable as possible. It’s feels so bleak with none of the charm from the earlier seasons. It’s sad to see how bad the show became.
Dan simply showed the truth of them for what they were.

this is one of the situations where everybody is in the wrong. dan is awful for writing about his friends and expecting them to be okay with it. and because his supposedly intelligent friends were so self-absorbed that they only read the bits about themselves, we can't even tell if their reaction is overblown or justified.

And what did she do exactly to be on that pedestal? Literally nthg. She gets handed on opportunities like Barbie dolls and when she can't have what she wants she makes sure noone else steals it from her. People who blatantly ridicule others aren't the worst, it's the ones who play nice with a knife in the back ready to stab you any moment.
If I was in Serena's place I would step back and ask myself what went wrong instead of putting that blame on others.

Dan is a hypocrite. He complains about how they all are awful and in the end he turned out just like them maybe even worst. However accurate he might have been about them it wasn't his story to tell. He should've been the one that ended up alone.
Personally, I’m not on anyone’s side on this one (i mean, all characters did some pretty messed up things at some point so the only thing that made me have a preference was whether they would admit it or not)
But objectively speaking, didn’t he admit himself that his alter ego character was as bad as all of the others, a « judgmental dick who can’t look himself in the mirror, comes out as the worst of all of them »
So if his characters are really based on them, doesn’t it mean that he acknowledges himself as being as bad as all of the others, Chuck and Serena included ?
Moreover, isn’t it fiction ? It just seems to me that he didn’t intend for the characters to be an EXACT portrayal of the original inspirations, so I personally think it’s kinda normal that some of their features are being exaggerated

This storyline was so dumb. HE SAID IT'S FICTION. The characters were INSPIRED by them. They are NOT the characters. He just took some aspects of them and put them into the characters he MADE. They're all dumb.

Honestly after season 3 her style goes downhill. The hair makeup clothes everything. Her style was classic and didn’t incorporate by bright colors. But the stylist completely changed Blair’s style to fit early 2010s saturation and it was HORRIBLE

@@soapoperaz in my opinion, the first 3 seasons were great. The 4th season was meh and the last two were absolute trash. It’s probably because the cast was contracted for 6 seasons , so everyone on the show was kind of over it at that point and wanted to do other projects.
