- 49ers fans were holding their breath most of the night as the team tried to bring home its sixth championship trophy, but it wasn’t meant to be. The Kansas City Chiefs won in overtime, 25-22.

You have the highest paid players at multiple positions, there is literally no way you can keep your "core" team, considering the 3M youre over the cap is including a 40M roll over from this year. you're betting on an an overall league salary cap increase and that affects every team so that renders that advantage a wash. You also play a first place schedule again, thereby having your window officially closed.

@@jje6619 out of the past 5 years injuries only derailed the 49ers in one of them, the other ones they have been SB contenders so there’s no reason to believe they can’t be healthy again next year, also while the SB hangover is true for some teams there are also multiple teams who made the SB the year after losing it, not to mention the NFC will still be weak next season, we’ll just have to wait and see if the 49ers can do it next year or not

You only listed 3 teams that could be contenders next year, Cowboys appear to be falling apart, Eagles are losing players and will need a couple of years before contending again, Seahawks will have a rookie head coach and don’t have anywhere close to the roster to compete, Saints are in cap hell and have one of the worst qb contracts in the league, Vikings don’t have the personnel be competitive enough for a Super Bowl, Bucs are an aging team and will likely lose players this offseason, Bears being good next year is good joke as there’s no reason to believe they will solve any of their numerous issues, only the Lions, Rams and Packers will be threats and the 49ers are still better than them right now

Don't forget either, Levi's Stadium will be hosting a Super Bowl in a couple years so maybe - JUST maybe - the Niners might actually get to play in the Super Bowl at THEIR home venue( even if the SB is recognized as a 'neutral site' game ).
