I really enjoyed seeing all the different excursions you took along the canal! The historic sites and beautiful nature walks looked amazing. Despite the challenges of finding moorings and navigating the busy waters, it seems like it was such a rewarding journey. Thanks for sharing this adventure!
I'm 88 and look forward to you latest episode, because you two lovely people cheer me up every week. Lots of fun, laughs and info. Plus the glorious scenery. Hope Ernie is soon over his upset, for good. Happy boating.

Hi, Another great vlog, I’d sit 4 hours watching you. Love the Peak District, driving through it is a pleasure. Hope Ernie feels better soon and things calm down on the water.
Things don't always go to plan !!! You did well Paul with all the traffic, nearly as bad as the M25. Glad to hear Ernie is doing well. Take care and stay safe. See you soon. X
Hi Guys, that was a busy trip, I've not seen the Peak that busy when walking it, definitely deserved a glass of something cold, glad to see Ernie bouncing around at the end
Hi Kathy, the area around the peak is stunning with some beautiful scenery and walks it was just so much busier than we had anticipated. Ernie was better for a few days but unfortunately his bad tummy has returned so back on a bland diet and probiotics to hopefully shift it once and for all. Fingers crossed. 😊
*Morena Liz, Paul & Ernie 🙂 Paul's skipping was delightful to watch. 🙂 Gosh not much gap happening and Paul did really well driving/sailing thru the gaps. 🙂 Liz, loving your filming and editing... great scenery along the canals. 🙂 Ernie needs a pat from me as he is such a good boy 🙂nz*
Morena Andrea. Hope you're well. It really was a busy busy canal but beautiful walks and sights to see. Paul did an excellent job didn't he with his steering. Renovation update? Is it all go go go now? 😊
Certainly was a lot busier than we expected and the busiest place we've been so far. Slowly starting to see the areas get a little less busy now that the school holidays have finished 😊
Hi Liz,Paul and Ernie, well what can I say, I'm sitting on the back of my boat eating my hard boiled egg and crisp sandwich with mayo with a cup of tea watching your latest video. All your videos are really good and enjoyable to watch but this one was absolutely fantastic, throughly enjoyed it I have now watched it twice. I know it's hard work all the editing and so on but I hope the rewards are good. Nearly 100 videos now. Keep going. 👏👏👏
Ah David, this comment has made our day..what a lovely complement that you give us by watching not once but twice. Thank you so much..that alone along with this lovely comment does indeed make the editing worth while. 😊 😊😊
Love you two, i have followed you from your start, if you remember Paul was a little not frightened . A little apprehensive driving. Look at him now Rubbbbish!!! No joke aside he does really well. He’s a really nice person. Bob
Thanks Bob, it's lovely to hear that you've been with us since the start of our journey. Thank you so much for continuing to join us. Paul's come far with his steering skill, he says he doesn't even really think about it anymore just as you would when driving a car 😊
We spent 12 weeks in Bugsworth Basin due to ill health and appointments and then I spent a further 3 months at Furness Vale Marina sorting my life out. It’s so beautiful up there, I loved Whaley Bridge, I wish I could have stayed up around that area permanently. Mooring at Buggy was easy, there was plenty of space, but getting there was like yourselves, done in one go as it was packed.
Yes that's exactly what we found, the basin was empty with plenty of moorings compared with the rest of the canal. I agree, it's very beautiful there despite the geese poo 🤣🫣 Furness Vale looked like a lovely marina too. 😍
There are some benefits...for example Paul gets the toilet as one of his jobs due to his lack of smell 🤣 Erns was in the mend but sadly seems to have another upset tummy again now so hoping he will finally shift it and its not any underlying issue. Thanks so much for watching 😊
@@uponreflection when I had my dog and he had an upset tummy alot we got some stuff from the vets then got it in pets at home called logic firm gut probiotics works brilliant 👍
Think they may be similar to what we are using. We got pro-kolin paste and some probiotic powder. It works a treat and stops diarrhea all the time he is on chicken and rice but as soon as we start introducing his food again he seems to get it again 😒
Thank you Liz n Paul, I really enjoy these long 35 minutes ones and I always watch till the last second. My wife and I will be down in Stone at the end of the month to pick up our hire boat for a fortnight. Paul,,,, you might like some of the woodwork stuff I put up on my channel, especially the latest one where I gone on about how it's the women that want all the fancy stuff made but as for us guys,,, an old wooden fish box and a pallet,,, we can knock something out of that and be happy 😂 Thanks guys and have a nice week ❤
Hi Gary, glad you enjoy the longer ones. I wasn't sure if they were a little too long or not. Here's hoping that you have nice weather when you get your boat. Which way you planning on going? We shall have a look at you videos, Paul because he used to do woodwork obviously and me because I might get some ideas of what I can ask Paul to make next 🤣😉 Thanks as always for watching 😊😊
Yes Liz, the long ones are good, at least the length of a coffee or tea. Not sure which direct we're going yet in the boat yet, we'll decide a few days before we arrive then total change it all when we get there. Yes a lot of fancy stuff but I upload for the joiners and carpenters who are 99% of my audience so please don't feel the need to sub. Hugs to Erny 😊
Sorry, we're a week behind. Late catching up this time. Lovely, as ever. Gorgeous Peaks. Spent a lot of time there walking as a child with my Mum and Stepdad and brother. Glad Ernie is better bless him. ❤ just making a cuppa and packing my case for flying to Prague for work tomorrow and then we're watching the latest vlog 😂❤
Hi Liz Paul and Erine, been watching all your narrowboat journey around the canals....Peak Forest great area... 👍...that was a ladybird larvae walking along your rail.....will turn into native Orange Ladybird 😊...
Oh wow thanks for letting us know what that was, we'd never seen one before. Thanks so much for continuing to watch our journey Gary, we appreciate you watching 😊
Dear Liz, Paul and Captain Ernie, Captain Ernie I hope you are feeling better by now. Liz, in the lower left hand corner, where you have the names of the villages, the blue colour shows up perfectly, nice touch. In the days when horses were used to pull the boats, how do you think they managed to have two boats going in opposite directions and pass each other when there was only one toe path? Imagine the amount of work there would have been to unharness the horses and maneuver all of the tack and lines past the two boats. What a lot of palaver!! At times there must have been some unmentionable words spoken. Mark Alberta, Canada
Hi Mark funny enough we were talking about horses passing each other the day and alot of the boat had high poles on their boats and we assume that they would hook the rope over the pole and therefore raising the rope high enough for the other horse to pass under without having to do any other alterations. Captain Ernie was better for a few days but now his bad tummy has return so he's back on a bland diet and probiotics to hopefully shoft it for good 😊
Hi Liz, thank you for the reply, they are always appreciated. If you wouldn't mind please keep us, on this side of the screen, informed as to how Captain Ernie fairs. was good to see you as you passed us at the swing bridge. ( I was in the white jacket holding the centre line on NB Brammle Karen had opened the bridge and was waling down in the red coat). We were just on our way back to our mooring at Furness Vale. so lucky to have the Peak as our home Canal. loving the blogs. Arnold & Karen
Hi there, Furness Vale looks a beautiful marina, I hear its very popular and has a waiting list to get a mooring there. The peak is an amazing location to be. Thanks so much for watching and we love to hear that you enjoy the videos 😊😊
That was some great 👉🏼👆🏼👈🏼 there 😁. You went past my perfect looking boat(I'll be in the market for one soon) at 27 mins, looks like it was called Aalin. I took a screenshot. Sorry Ernie was poorly, it's always a worry when animals are off colour. Thanks for the vid guys.
I'll have a little look back at that boat..exciting times ahead for you then with the plan to get one. Wishing you the best with that and hopefully we will see you on tue cut one day. 😊
Hi guys what a hectic bit of Cruising this week it all can't be all plain sailing. I'm glad Ernie is feeling a lot better as we don't want the star of the show tucked up in his sick bed do we 😂. Great content as always and 35 minutes flew by 😢.
It certainly can't be, wasn't expecting it to be that busy but we still enjoyed our time on it. Ernie was good for a few days and now has another bad tummy so hoping the medicine clears it once amd for all and it's not an underlying issue. 😊
Will be good practice before you do Llangollen !!!!! The wife thinks I’m a bit simple but I absolutely love it with all the hire boats it stops you getting complement on the tiller(we are up here now and we didn’t need to be !!!!! ) My opinion only but it’s the best canal for all sorts of reasons 👍👍👍👍
Paul loves it as well David, so he's with you on that one, he likes the challenge 😉 We are looking forward to the Llangollen, slowly making our way there, we may see you there 😊
We did the Peak in one trip. 7 hours up and down. Like you no moorings. We enjoyed the Mac. Hope to bump into you along the way. We are now on the Coventry just before the Atherstone flight. Heading South to winter on the Oxford. Safe travels. Lesley & Bob xx
It certainly was a lot busier than I expected and although it didn't spoil our time on there, I don't think I'd rush to do it again if that makes sense. We are also heading south for winter but more the grand union way, Quick pit stop first though for autumn on the Llangollen 😊
Another great video, would be more space if they would cut back the vegetation in some spots, but I understand they are volunteers who try and keep up the canals.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it. I think we were unlucky as I don't think it's usually that busy so normally the mooring spots are adequate but yes it would help if they dredged the canal so the sides weren't as shallow in places and would open up more options 😊
Great one guys! A tad hectic lol, we need a map, a list and a gps to keep track of you lot but i love all the hustle on the canal, it’s great to see them used so well. If only maintenance could keep up, but i’m sure the area is gorgeous, esp that Millennium Walk, that looked incredible, like a set for a movie! Now hoping captain Erns id back to his usual goofy self. ❤❤❤
There certainly was a lot of hustle and bustle but we'll worth it, such a gorgeous area with lots of beautiful walks. Ernie got better for a few days but he's back on a bland diet and probiotics again so hopefully he will be on the mend for good soon 😊
Paul you need to retrain your sense of smell, keep smelling things like coffee, tea and things that have a distinct smell. It took me about 2 years to retrain my sense of smell, I used to go into store that had infusion bottle sample and see if I could pick out the various smells. Your brain will remember the smells. It will come back but you might find that some smells you are really sensitive to, I find the smell of diesel and petrol are so strong now. Great vlog by the way.
Well, that was really busy...some terrific steering by Paul. In spite of all the traffic, it is a very beautiful stretch of canal. The Millennium Walkway looks pretty good. Was that an old mill or something? I'm glad Ernie is OK. Thanks for another gorgeous video guys. Cheers.
Hi Neil, yes it was a cotton mill and is now a lovely cafe spot. It certainly was beautiful. Busy busy canal but worth it for the lovely walks and adventures away from the canal 😊

Just joined your channel. Anxious to get to know about longboats. In one of my English mysteries the lady lived on a longboat and it seemed so different and interesting. As soon as I saw your longboat I joined you. The scenery is just beautiful. I’m retired and living in the United States.
Hi there. Welcome to our channel. It certainly is a different way of life but we love it, the scenery, the beauty, even the winter months are magical. Don't get me wrong, this lifestyle isn't for everyone and does take some adjusting to but we have lived on ours for just over a year bow after spending 8 months renovating her and we are very thankful to be able to live this kind of life. 😊

Enjoy your vids, & hello from 🇨🇦. You were going through Dibley many moons ago we used to watch a show on TV called the Vicar of Dibley . Same per chance.
Hi there thanks so much for watching and joining us on our adventures. The Vicar of Dibley is filmed on location in the tiny village of Turville, Buckinghamshire. I believe we went past Disley. I would love to visit the area where they filmed that though, I used to watch it too. 😊
Looked like the Peak Parking Canal to me,very pretty nonetheless.I wasn’t totally convinced with the Steve Austin impersonation 😊Sorry to hear Earnie has O D ‘d on the fibre in the diet, dogs eh! Their version of perfume used to get me🤢and keep Liz Away from the High Karate 😂
I hope the video didn't come across that we didn't like the peak canal, we did enjoy it, it was just so busy. But we still had some lovely exploring away from the canal. Ernie was better for a while but sadly has a poorly tummy again so fingers crossed it's not an underlying issue. Thanks for watching 😊
Great vid guys good to see you enjoying the peak forest ,its not normally so busy a lot say its their favourite canal its in stunning scenery but there are canals to rival it
Don't get me wrong, we throughly enjoyed the area, the walks it was just such a shame that it was as busy as it was. Lovely canal, but it hasn't gone down as one of my favourites 😉😊
I lost my sense of smell sometime in the 90's. The Dr said from too many sinus infections and two sinus surgeries. Like you, I get a brief scent of something once in a while. There are advantages and disadvantages to no sense of smell.
Hi you three :) Unfortunately looks like you hit the Peak Forest at peak season, but how stunning is it round that area it's amazing! That mill and the millenium walkway is a place I've always fancied visiting. Blimey Paul you handled the boat like a boss on that canal mate, well impressed :) £1.43 for diesel?? Dick Turpin had the decency to wear a mask lol :) Liz your skills at editing these vlogs just gets better and better well done you :) Usually when you go through a swing bridge with another boat just say thanks, but if there's another swing bridge further on then you tell them you'll hold it open for them also (Leapfrogging) . Have a great week you three :) ps: Hope you stopped at Holly the Cafe Boat for Jo's cake ooooooh yesss! :)
The millennium walk is well worth a visit. Paul certainly had his steering tested on the peak forest canal but all went well so hats off to him. Thanks for the complement on the editing, I do try 😉😊 We actually moored near Holly the cafe boat on the way back down the macc and both times (up and down) it was closed. It was a Saturday I think on the way up and a Sunday, a week later on return and it was all closed up. So unfortunately no cake 😢

@@uponreflection give him some extra cuddles from me! ❤️♥️❤️
@tteric67 will do 😊
Paul you need to retrain your sense of smell, keep smelling things like coffee, tea and things that have a distinct smell.
Hi Diana, I read an article on retraining your smell once which I shared with Paul , sometimes he will get a sniff of really strong scents. 😊
Thankyou
Thanks for watching Carol 😊

@rocka-cb7kk time flies, that's why you have to ensure you enjoy the moments and the people you choose to spend those moments with 😊
Just joined your channel.
i know that feeling of rain well
I bet you do, your job depends good weather doesn't it or at least not heavy downpours 😊

That's why Paul's in charge of sorting our toilet out 🤣😉😊
Hi you three :) Unfortunately looks like you hit the Peak Forest at peak season, but how stunning is it round that area it's amazing!
Thanks for the complement on the editing, I do try 😉😊
We actually moored near Holly the cafe boat on the way back down the macc and both times (up and down) it was closed. It was a Saturday I think on the way up and a Sunday, a week later on return and it was all closed up. So unfortunately no cake 😢
The diesel at Furness don,t include VAT so if you add that its not much different than New Mills Marina
Thanks Andy, we missed the mooring for it anyhow 🤣 ended up getting some from a fuel boat that came passed us a few days later 🤣😊
Thank you for videoing as you went past the marina we are moored in i av just shown my wife.just as you said theres Swizzels our boat with the chimney smoking came into view cheers again @uponreflection
No problem Andy 😉 good spot 😊😊
14:40 If you had flint on the sides, you would of made sparks.
Yes some narrow, bendy parts on that canal for sure buy no contact made so all good 😉😊
🫣👍
Thanks for watching 😊
Retirement must be nice for you, seems like for week, from your multiple miscues, you had no idea where you were, nor did you care.
We spend the majority of the time not knowing what day it is 🤣 we track the days by knowing which day we release a vlog on 😉🤣😊
