Have had this guitar since around March, it's great, agreed on all of Walter's points. One observation to add is that the displaced soundhole means you need to adapt your fingerstyle percussion because they reverberate differently. Can of course still do it, just need to strike in different places.
................. I agree. As I have told Walter. I am a lick thief . I try and steal his licks and progressions. I end up with a ton of great stuff and an even greater respect for Walter's talent as a guitarist. His sharing has made us all better guitarists. BTW, he could make a First Act guitar sound great.................
Nice review and wonderful playing. I have one of these and I agree with the pros and cons listed in this video. I’d add that the sound, from the perspective of one playing it, is heavily skewed toward bass, which drowns out the treble frequencies. It might be the offset sound hole that causes that perception, as it sounds bassier while playing it than it does when listening to someone else playing it. I’m finding that hard to get used to and enjoy. People I’m playing for seem to like it better than I do. I’ll also add that the factory setup had very high action. I had a luthier lower it, and it was still high. I lowered it some more myself, and it’s better but still not as easy to play as my other guitars.
I've had one for a couple years and love it. I have a Martin D28 and a couple other nice guitars. My Tacoma top cracked bad due to low humidity, thus the Enya. You didn't mention the really nice case ! I agree with the knobs and lack of tuner. I used white marker to see better but they dropped the ball on that. How details like that get by QC and R and D is odd. Heavy ? YES. One other thing is plugged in you can't defeat the effects, you can turn it down a bit. Great playing !
Kudos, Walter, for your usual lovely playing and excellent exposition. Apart from the weight which is bit of a negative, the tone and projection seem great. I would think it would also be resilient to factors affecting wooden instruments like humidity.
You mentioned the absence of markers on the tone volume and mic controls , but on your close up of the control panel , at 2.50 , I notice there are two small projections on each of these knobs that presumably are supposed to act as markers .
Thank you Walter for your review. I have been contemplating a carbon fiber guitar for when I go out to the desert in a completely dry humidity environment. I am AMAZED at the sustain the Enya guitar has! Love your arrangement......Jesus is mine, oh what a foretaste of Glory divine! . ......Russell D.
Thank you for the great review! I just got it, and love the sound! The spacing/ action between the high frets and strings is really large/ high. Since just out of box do i have to go to a pro to fix, or return and get another? I'm new at this.
Would love to know your journey to mastering the guitar You play it so well. Schools You went to, courses, etc. Thanks for sharing and inspiration. Where are you from?
Great review ! Very nice playing. Thinking about one of these . You think it worth it or does the honeymoon end pretty quickly with this thing. By the way where do you get the pad to set on your knee. Great ideal . Again thank you a lot ! Jeffery Clark from Rockdale Texas
I'm a listener, not a guitarist , that guitar sounds better than I expected it to, particularly in skilled hands. The loudness and projection is impressive but does it lack the warmth of wood? Or am I being picky?
Hi Derek. Acording to their website it's says Fretboard Radius (16") Carbon Fiber. It feels pretty much like a "Les Paul" profile, I have long fingers and it feels very comfortable to my hands.
Its nice and beautiful guitar ! I think sound hole is made "gold" along with the pegs. If you make it "matte black", then the pegs will have to be made same. Wish for designer....🙂
Thanks Pal. Yes, it's clearly a match with the pegs, but since the ring is made of plastic, it's not like matching the pegs with the rest of the hardware like on an electric guitar, but that's my humble opinion as a guitar player. My wife disagrees with me as well, she's a designer :)
@@walterfingerstyle The design of your performances completely covers the design of any guitars in your hands. Keep making the world happy with your music...
It depends on what “style” of Fingerstyle you’ll be playing and the sound (tone) you want to achieve. If it’s more towards Jazz I personally prefer nylon string guitars because they are much easier on the fingers among other personal preferences. This guitar (X4) is a great instrument but like with any other carbon fiber guitars it has a very particular tone comparing to traditional wooden guitars. It really comes down to personal preference.
Sold mine but will buy again when they fix this: neck angle is waaay too steep and too high attached to the body, strings height above soundboard is too high for playing comfortably with resting pinky (at least for me), guitar is too heavy for carrying around, not more dynamic responsive when harder strumming and picking, transducer electronics sounding are quieter than on wooden guitars due guitar's mass and stiffness of the back. Offset soundhole is nice and adding more bass, but you cannot put magnet pickup if you use it. Otherwise nice guitar for that price and excellent sounding when amplified. Comes with very nice and elegant case.
I had an issue unfortunately with this guitar. First you dont know what the power level is so it would die during the middle of a gig and second the action was incredibly high and uncomfortable to play
Are there any bad Brazilian guitarists? Not fair, your too good... hahaha, But on the guitar. I like how you make it sound, but I noticed it's missing the woody resonance and warmth from a traditional instruments. Shore it has it's place in recording or live situations.

best review of this axe I can find. Thanks Walter!
He is so amazingly talented
Gorgeous melody chord style
Walter is so good - he is a true master, one of the finest players out there. Great review, Walter!
Thank you so much Mike!
@@walterfingerstyle looking forward to meeting you on Dec. 3!
Beautiful playing. I keep coming back to this video again and again. Very good.
High quality built and hi-tech equipped piece of guitar. And it is in good hands. Beautiful 🧡

I’ve watched scores of Walter’s videos. I’ve never heard him speak, or do any demos or reviews etc. A brilliant player and a great guitar.
Excellent, straight forward QUICK review. An efficient use of time but covered all the bases! Thank you Walter!!
Oh, and great playing❤
I agree about getting rid of the gold ring... how about an all matte black version - even the tuners! that'd be nice... the case seemed so shiny!
Is there a gig bag that fits?
What is that gorgeous progression at 2:23? I'll buy it if available.
Excellent review!
Thanks Rob. I was just playing some random chords, nothing written down.
I always love your videos. They are truly a blessing!

a very fair and comprehensive review. looks like a good product.
Beautiful guitar, and it sounds super good in your hands!
Apparently the one's shipping now have built in tuners and more readable dials. They listened to you!

Beautiful guitar and sound
Im sure the review is great but honestly I just come here to listen to the the part(s) where you play. Thanks for the excellent content, Walter.
Thanks Karl!
Belíssimo instrumento, excelente projeção sonora. Na mão do mestre então... 🥇
Amazing guitar. Quite affordable too. Sounds great, but then it's Walter playing it after all. 🙂
Even if it's a $100 guitar, it will sound great when the master plays it.
Great tutorial Walter, thanks!
Great playing!
Its a beautiful guitar. You make it look so easy! 😊
Nice review and playing!

The action (string hight) can be easily adjusted by a guitar tech or luthier, once it’s proper setup it should play very comfortably.
Thanks for this. Great review, great playing! "Blessed Assurance"!😁
Oi Walter! Fala um pouco de você! Mora no Bras ou exterior? Te assisto a tempos e sabemos pouco sobre esse músico tão talentoso!
Would love to know your journey to mastering the guitar You play it so well. Schools You went to, courses, etc. Thanks for sharing and inspiration. Where are you from?
Great review Walter…always enjoy your perspective on instruments. Great playing also (think you’ve already got some bluegrass under your fingers!!)
Thanks so much Mike! Next move... getting a thumbpick :)
@@walterfingerstyle Chet would be proud!!!
Hi Walter, thanks for this interesting review
Exelente guitarra, lo mejor que he visto..
The shiny ring around the sound hole makes it look like a cup holder. So I fully agree a matt black would be much better.
Hi Walter, great video!
I was thinking, what's the name of the soft stand that you use to elevate the guitar? Hf and take care :)
Good review! This carbon fiber guitar does not like other carbon fiber guitar. the souns is more warm and solid
Nice review, thanks

How are the low ends? I play in drop C almost exclusively. If the guitar still sounds this beautiful when tuned that low, I’ll be sold.
Good review Walter! Maybe Emerald Guitars will send you a Virtuo for review. Sounds great!!
I'm a listener, not a guitarist , that guitar sounds better than I expected it to, particularly in skilled hands. The loudness and projection is impressive but does it lack the warmth of wood? Or am I being picky?
I like the natural reverb of the guitar
Ademas de ser tu Fan. creo que tomas una escoba y la nacer sonar hermosa!!! muy bella guitarra!! Saludos amigo!!!
The direct (unmiked) sound was excellent
Maestro Walter saludos desde Venezuela!! Podría realizar algún cover de Luis Miguel? Gracias.
Man this is amazing
Did you have the action set up on it after you bought it or did it come set up already?
Thanks, Walter. What’s the neck profile like? I have big hands and prefer chunky necks. Thanks.
Hi Derek. Acording to their website it's says Fretboard Radius (16") Carbon Fiber. It feels pretty much like a "Les Paul" profile, I have long fingers and it feels very comfortable to my hands.
What's you playing guitare at 4:25'' please ?
I would love to have one
It’s sound great!
You need to do more test drives and especially around Blessed Assurance! God Bless, Buddy!
My Enya x4 started cracking on the back. Contacted Enya. They won’t repair. They suggested I put a sticker on it. I’m afraid the cracks will spread.
Oh no. How is it now? Did you throw it or kept it still? I'm contemplating getting one.. but so far a lot of carbon fiber guitars have cracks.
What a shooting voice
I really like it so much
Walter, Has un video de la canción amor mío de Álvaro carrillo. Digo que se escucharía genial con esa guitarra.
Esperaré el vídeo, amigo.
Nice sustain!!! Not a bad guitar, I like it!
Thanks Scott. It has a very unique sound, great guitar overall. Sounds better live :)
What is the action like. Is is easy to play? It sounds great.
Out of the box, action was a little high for my taste, lowered a bit to a more comfortable height.

Quite nice snake skin looking guitar. Great playing Walter as always! Thx 😉
Does Enya make left handed carbon fiber guitars?
You would sound great playing any guitar.
Walter,
With your musical abilities I believe you could make Bagpipes sound good 👍🏻
Haha! Thanks Al!
can you adjust the set up with that guitar?
Thank you for your neutral review!
The most important is sound must be good and its good 👍
Wanderfull!!❤
It's a beautiful guitar.
Does it have adjustable action?
Hi would you recommend this guitar for fingerstyle

The guitar seems excellent! And your playing even better! How is the action? I hear it is poor.
Out of the box, the action was a little high, had to adjust it.

Hmm its working on my end, are you in the US?
Does this "guitar" accept nylon strings?
I think you can play a broomstick and will still sound good.
I had an issue unfortunately with this guitar. First you dont know what the power level is so it would die during the middle of a gig and second the action was incredibly high and uncomfortable to play
Not being cynical or anything, just curious- if you get a cosmetic “ding” or or some kind crack or whatever- who fixes it? Again, just curious..

That's nice. But can you play smoke on the water... And by the way.. Who tf needs a tuner anyway.
This guitar sounds sick! I like it! Just wonder if it is too big for a girl!
Sounds better then a 3,000 Martin.
