Mike, I was not planning on buying this, but most interesting for me was the kind of things you were looking out for, which helps me when I’m playing guitars and assessing them. Your comments about the on-board effects, the sound when the guitar is “pushed”, the chords you were playing and critically listening to and the style of playing that the guitar would suit. Mega, thank you.
Very interesting review. I was expecting the Enya X4 to sound thin and brittle like some kind of plastic toy guitar, so I was mighty surprised by how it sounded. I think if it’s priced right it’d be ideal for touring during wintertimes. Thanks Mike
This is a great carbon fiber guitar review video that deepened my understanding of carbon fiber guitars! Also, the surface on this guitar is so unique, first time I've seen a surface like this!
It does have a truss rod and it can be adjusted. I just went down to special light gauge strings. It feels a lot less stiff with the lower gauge strings.
I like the earthiness of a carbon fiber guitar that is resistant to humidity. All is nice and earthy with wood guitars until you go to a location with a humid climate and see the effects it has on said wood guitars.
I have one of these and I agree with most of what you say. My perspective on the offset soundhole is different. I find that it makes the sound bass heavy and drowns out the high frequencies from the perspective of the player.
I've sanded down the saddle a tiny bit and it's made a pretty big difference. Gonna be bold and sand it down more soon. Also the truss rod IS adjustable (they even include the right sized allen wrench with the guitar!) It's been one of the easiest truss rods I've adjusted. Mine came with way more relief than I wanted. I will get a pro setup eventually, but just enjoying my honey-moon phase now and trying to learn more about it!
At the price point with the case and everything included sounds pretty amazing There are shims under the bridge remove them and the action will get lower FYI
Great video. I picked it up expecting it to be light as a feather.. nearly 3 kilograms 😮 I've had it 2 years.. keeps in tune. The battery is quite large with Usb C charger.. It's took ages to get the feel of it but I wouldn't swap it for another. Travis picking.. it's the Best. What strings are on it?
Had mine about a year, I barely tweaked the truss rod, put in new tusk pins and put on Diadario custom lights ...this guitar changed my life, I haven't used the onboards but getting ready to record and can't wait to see what I get out of it thru the mixer board ! Best guitar I've had ever for a hardworking songwriter ..I seldom need to tune when going hot to rehearse..if I tune it up to record I can get thru a 4 min song completely in tune and I am a hard strumming, hammer on and off player ..I spend about 2 hrs a day on it and as soon as I pick it up ..I'm back in love ! ...Guild..A.Loprenzi..Martin D18..they all sit in their cases now bc this axe is a workhorse..not a show horse.
I loved mine until the “durable” carbon fiber back started cracking. I reached out to Enya, sent photos, and they said I must’ve banged it, but mine has always been stored in the case. They suggested putting a sticker over the cracks. I’m afraid the cracks are spreading.
That sucks..I was lucky w mine maybe but I love it ! I would try again if I were you. Once the set up is right ( I tweaked the truss rod a tiny bit and it's been a genuine workhorse), I rehearse a lot then record and I've saved hours of tune up time in both regards..sorry you gota bad one but I would try again..this quitar changed musical performance for me and improved my musicianship.

My pleasure, Mike! Thanks for your thoughtful comments 😊
I lowered the action by sanding down the saddle, and may do a bit more. I also believe that the nut slots were not cut deep enough.

Really like your review- honest and thoughtful. Very helpful- thanks.

Us too! It looks very cool 😎
Thanks for talking about how it feels. Most reviewers don't think about talking about that, and it's very important.
Nice review Mike! Very thorough, thoughtful, and balanced. Thank you.
Thanks Michael, I'm glad you enjoyed it :)

Good to know, thanks for sharing this Michael!
Did you adjust the truss rod, or did you only change to lighter gauge strings?
Thank you for the video, love your approach to reviews. I think this Guitar is Beautiful just purchased can't wait for it to come.
Hot damn, son! Now that's a review! Informative, enticing, sleek but with added honesty and clarity. Thank you, kind sir! Kudos indeed!
Nice review, Mike. This Enya carbon fiber guitar is becoming more and more popular. They found the right person.
This info really helped me, thank you!!
At the price point with the case and everything included sounds pretty amazing
I was impressed that it came with a hard shell case for that price.
Great insight
I’ll wait til they get it right. I enjoy the earthiness of wood guitars

Just wondered, if they would melt in the hot sun?' Then you could rebrand it as a Lava guitar.😀. Love Scousers and Scallys. Great demo. 🤩
Love it😍😍😍
Thank you. Liked. This is a 1 11/16 neck right? I wish it was 1 3/4.

how about the unplayable high action on this guitar. Bought it and had to return for the high action issue
A setup by a qualified luthier is part of any guitar purchase….

Is the saddle compensated?
If your playing it in the sun you may need some gloves on as it gets really hot lol
Fibre in UK English.
There is a truss rod.
They have NOT stainless steel frets. Thats a huge Downer.
