I was bouncing around peoples houses about 6 years ago (mid-20s) after my brothers moved out of a house we were renting. People in the community (Christian) offered to take me in. One of these families that took me in was this wonderful older Sicilians couple from NYC, now living in Tennessee. I must say, one of the best times in my life. Tony looked like a tanned Santa Clause and Lucy had these large thick-lensed glasses. They were a pair, especially in Nashville with their thick NYC accents. She always made large meals and would make her pasta and danishes from scratch. I'm salivating just thinking about it (LOL). I remember giving her a compliment one late afternoon after a large family gathering (their family) that I would be a blessed man if I found a woman just like her. She blushed and gave me a tight hug and a peck on the cheek. They always had their grandkids in the house, people always visiting and staying for dinner, so never a dull moment in that house. I lived with them just over a year. Just thinking about it brings a smile to my face.

I have 3 comments to make. GB, you've become a sort of hero to me, I"m 34 and listen to the wisdom you share and will often listen and reflect over my pipe. Second comment, my sister is in one of those "just works for us" relationships. It's very weird, and when I visit, it's like they are roommates in the same bed. I can't quite finger it, but after a little while you get a little uncomfortable around them. Lastly, it's not just Italian women. My wife is a good old fashioned, southern, antebellum woman that was raised by her grandmother. I've been with her for 5 years and married 3 of them, I'm still not use to being treated so good by a women. Being treated so well, makes a man do whatever he can to make her happy in return, and keep her around. Maybe that's the trick used by these types of women. The happier the man, the better she is treated too. Hmm, something to mull over while enjoying my pipe. Cheers!!

You knead a nice Italian girl until she's nice and thin. Then add the marinara, the provolone, and place in the oven at 450 degrees until done. Cut into eight slices, or six if you're not that hungry.

Hi George! Just found u. I was watching video on "organic" haircut. And then saw the find a nice Italian woman. Just had to click it! Obviously I'm Italian (the 5😉). As u stated there is a difference. I've always sd Italian men were good for one thing. Marriage is not the one I'm talking about lol. And it seems Italian men do best with Irish women. Sundays were always filled with pasta and table wine after church. My grandparents passed when I was 4 and 6 so ..yea wine early too lol. They did sleep in the same bed in their bedroom. But my brothers grandparents (non Italian) had separate beds. Which till this day I still don't get. U hit on so many things that brought back great memories. N yes the music. Everyone played something or sang. My family had a meat/deli in West Orange, NJ. One of my Uncle's owned a music production company. Dining with many great musicians, singers and songwriters that are still at the top. Thanks for helping me reminiscence as my mind is not so great. I will be 39 on Saturday. No kids n no marriages. Getting out of an 11 yr relationship. He just refuses to leave. I started dating an older gentleman. 5 yrs my elder. It is amazing how he loves me. U older men whew!!! 😉 As I watch u talk in this video. It makes me reflect on excuse me for using the word, but "adorable" it is when y'all think. Its like pulling a rolodex out and scuffling through the memories. Y'all truly think, before u speak. I 💓 it!! I find it so handsome. I love watching him when he's in thinking mode. He is a vet so there is a lot going on in that beautiful mind all the time. I hope u find what ur looking for one day. I still haven't figured out if Love is: What u need in a partner or if it is what u want in a partner. Any knowledge on that? More like "Morning coffee and thoughts with George" 👍 very handsome by the way.

George, I absolutely think that ethnicity with women makes a difference. I’m sure I’m going to get a lot of nasty replies because of this comment. I’m not saying that all white American girls are spoiled and ignorant but, every white American girl that I dated had some type of issue. I’m not saying that I am perfect by any means but I’m saying they would have some type of mental issue. Everything is a crisis, when times get tough they start crying and don’t know how to handle themselves. I found a beautiful nice pacific islander that I married, and am currently happily married to. I have been with her for seven years now and I have yet to see any mental break down or crying over little petty things. She came to the US in 2006 and is now a citizen. She grew up in a Third World country where they actually know what a struggle is, they have a whole different set of values they know how to appreciate what they have. Spot on George!

Growing up here in the Pacific Northwest, I have not known many Italians. My mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother were very much "nice" Norwegian women. They were kind, loving, hardworking, always cooking cleaning and offering you food. My other grandparents, Hungarian and Welsh heritage, were farmers and very hard-working. They canned and and dried fruit and in autumn would butcher cut and wrap meat for themselves friends and neighbors. I very much miss those people and those days.

Never ending debate about women and men ...the most important thing is to work on yourself and fall in love with yourself and the world around you, ppl come to relationships with big luggage and then they are unhappy no matter who they with ..99 % ppl are not willing to work on the self so chances are thin ..it has nothing to do with age but it has to do of your mental growth..but anyways good luck finding nice Italian girl :)))

Thank you for saying what I've been trying to express for years - It's not only okay to be judgmental, it's a responsibility. When you're judging someone or something, you're saying "This is behavior I accept " or "This is behavior I DON'T accept". And we can't leave ourselves out of it, either. We have to take in the mirror and judge ourselves, too. Excellent video, lot's of good stuff in here. Thanks for posting this.

In the oldest tradition of Italy a good italian woman is a woman that cares for the family while the man breaks his back working hard. She cooks, she cleans and she knows the ins and outs of the community while the man puts up the sweat. None of the "jobs" they do are easy by any chance and both are valuable and, in my opinion, necessary. She ties you with the community and remembers everything you need while you focus on teh family sustaining job. I have an italian wife and, even if she works and does not cook as much as i would like, she takes care of me just as I do care for her. She is the emotional tornado of the family and the best happy face to have around while I am much more measured and practical. It is still hard to live together as human but we recognize we are different and we take care of different things in the family.

I dated a Vietnamese girl who was that way. She was always cooking something, cleaning something, and pulling me into bed. I guess I took it for granted in my 20s but now at 40 I think that actually sounds pretty amazing. I think there are many cultures where this was common. The woman would hold down the household duties and raise children and that would in turn help the man to focus on work/income.

I had a girlfriend who was Sicilian decent, mother would come home from work and start cleaning and making dinner, a good wife and mother. Anytime I came to their home the food and drinks came over without even asking. The American girls lack that type of hospitality. The problem was my girlfriend at the time was 22 and I was 30 . She wanted to get married. It lasted over 2 years, I wasn't ready to get married. Now I look back and think about how she would do everything for me. Clip my toe nails, massage and clean my car and bedroom. If I can find another Mediterranean type Girl, I definitely would keep her.

I think it's not a matter of ethnicity, but a matter of culture. Women of some cultures are grown to be "servant" of their man in the good sense of the word servant.

I remember drinking vino & ginger ale when I was a kid at my nonno's house. We Italians started drinking wine spritzers as children before they were invented! I would go back & re-live those days just to hang out with my nonno again.

I feel like that life is all about love, you see it everywhere. Sometimes i get sick of people that only think about love. People asking, " why dont you have a girlfriend yet" " do you have a girlfriend " "are you gay because you don't have a girlfriend". it also does not help that i have seen so many failed relationships in my life that i dont even want to start one. I know that human instinct is to reproduce ourselfs, but If i say im not gay and i dont want a girlfriend people can just not understand that.

A good woman is a complement to a man’s life. Not the focus of it. In other words good freaking luck.

So funny.. this was my childhood as well.. I too am 2nd generation.. all my grandparents were from the old country. When I was 9 or so my grandfather gave me an empty jug and told me to go to the corner bar for wine.. same deal with the ginger ale, wine and coffee.. then there was the fig tree!

Love the old Vertigo comics. One of my favourites was a simple 3-issue spinoff from Sandman, Death: The High Cost of Living. I get very nostalgic revisiting those. The 90s was my era for comics. Started dabbling again a few months ago, mainly for a nostalgia trip. Good times. Peace friend.

+Gray Bailey I literally have that atm. I am 36 and she is 27. She is an Italian from Brooklyn. I am a hillbilly from West Virginia. We just started the pipe hobby together thanks to you and the pipe nook.
You mentioned there are relationships where they serve each other. We are kinda like that. But she mostly serves me because I am lazy! ^_^
