I believe He will if not this year he will eventually hold the wold records in 1500 & mile & come close or break the 5000 . I love to see him eventually move up to marathon as many other have
I agree! If not this season then next season I believe the 1500m World Record will be his. The 5,000m World Record is also an interesting thought, I wonder if Joshua Cheptegei will be able to improve it any further, but even if not then Jakob still has some way to go in order to reach the World Record!
He has a realistic shot at breaking the 1500 m world record. But he has zero intention of pursuing that record in Budapest. Above anything else, he wants the 1500 gold that eluded him last year. However, the 1500 field this year is historically fast and gunning for Jakob. Jakob may need to set an Olympic record to take the win.
@@rayflaherty3441 He announced that he would go for fast times in the 1500, trying to improve his PB, at DL events (Brussels, Silesia). The 1500 tends not to be fast at championships and 3:26 is an unbelievably fast WR. As in Tokyo Jakob will do what it takes to win. He slowed down at the line. He has the 5000 to think of. Since this 1500 field is super strong I expect a faster race than last year. Winning time of 3:28.
He's not even entered in the 10,000, so he should have no problem completing the double. Regarding WRs, it would be difficult at worlds, because no pacers or pacing lights are allowed. However, I favor him to win both races.
Yeah I would have liked to see him in the 10,000m, it would have been a very interesting race! I also doubt he'll be able to break the 1500m WR at the World Champs, but he definitely has a chance, and although having no pacers or lights will affect him, maybe he'll be able to step up on the biggest stage!
Can he break the WR? Yes he can. Will he break? Not in Budapest. He should win golds in 1500m and 5000m, he isn't qualified for 10000m, then he is most likely going to break 2000m WR in September.

Can you cite "he has zero intention of pursuing that record in Budapest"?

@@CliveBramham ok, thanks for the explanation. No pacers allowed at worlds, so I thought it might be because of that.

Great predictions!! I don't think he'll break the record in Budapest either but he definitely has a chance, so either way it's an exciting watch!
