    He's not even entered in the 10,000, so he should have no problem completing the double. Regarding WRs, it would be difficult at worlds, because no pacers or pacing lights are allowed. However, I favor him to win both races.

      Yeah I would have liked to see him in the 10,000m, it would have been a very interesting race! I also doubt he'll be able to break the 1500m WR at the World Champs, but he definitely has a chance, and although having no pacers or lights will affect him, maybe he'll be able to step up on the biggest stage!

    He has a realistic shot at breaking the 1500 m world record. But he has zero intention of pursuing that record in Budapest. Above anything else, he wants the 1500 gold that eluded him last year. However, the 1500 field this year is historically fast and gunning for Jakob. Jakob may need to set an Olympic record to take the win.

      @@rayflaherty3441 He announced that he would go for fast times in the 1500, trying to improve his PB, at DL events (Brussels, Silesia). The 1500 tends not to be fast at championships and 3:26 is an unbelievably fast WR. As in Tokyo Jakob will do what it takes to win. He slowed down at the line. He has the 5000 to think of. Since this 1500 field is super strong I expect a faster race than last year. Winning time of 3:28.

      That record was most likely made by using doping at that time. There are lots of records from that time and earlier that should be removed as they most likely got done with the help of doping, but since no one can prove it, they will stay and some of them will stay forever as it is impossible to break them for a clean athlete. Others will be beaten after very many years because of a freak athlete with the benefits from better training and better diets, are finally able to beat them. A freak athlete like Jakob Ingebrigtsen and this record. If Jakob Ingebrigtsen is not able to beat this record, I doubt we will see anyone the next 20-30 years that will be close to do it either. And maybe never.

    Sowinski paced the New York grand after he paced jakob in Paris I believe. In New York they waisted his pace and chose to run a tactical race with a winning time of 3:37 I believe. At the diamond league race Jakob and the field went with the pacer and 8 men finished under 3:30. A pacer can only do so much. Agree with Jakob when he said if he’s in the field he’s the pacesetter.

      Exactly, Jakob is undoubtedly the favourite for the 1500m this year at the world champs, so he can decide by himself how the race is run, it's a great position to be in!

    I'm confused does WL mean 'world leading time' ? Does this mean the fastest time over a recent period. So someone ran 3'27.95 perhaps in the last year whereas Hicham ran 3'26. Can anyone help me understand this please.

    It would be foolish if Ingebrigsten ran a strategic sit and kick race at the World Championships because he would be opening up the race to all the kickers- the gold medal would be in serious jeopardy in the scenario- however, if he blasts the pace and makes it a fast race from start to the end - he will win because nobody else will be able to stay with him! 🎉

    • @runnerscentral8248
      @runnerscentral8248 Год назад

      Exactly my thoughts, there's really no point to Jakob running a tactical race, because as you said it gives an opportunity to the kickers. Whereas if Jakob goes for the World Record and doesn't quite get there, nobody will be able to stay with him, and even if he fades towards the end, I think it will be too big for anybody to close down. I also think Jakob is too smart to go out at a ridiculous pace and completely blow up.

      Let's pretend I uttered the following statement: "Until the 90's no black athlete could win a race over the 1500's". But after the EPO came about, HEG, along with the Kenyans & Ethiopians all of the sudden took over distance running with unreal performances.." That would be pretty damn racist, don't you think? Well.. Since my comment is nothing but racist bigotry, so are yours. So for future reference, swap the places on those you are commenting before putting ethnicities up against each other. If the swapped version doesn't sit well with you, the same goes for the one you're about to post..

    Only El G., The Grasshopper, and Bernie Lagat have been under 3:27 for the metric. Jakob may join that group, if the weather is perfect in Budapest. But he has never won the World OD 1500, and that win will take precedence over the time.

    • @runnerscentral8248
      @runnerscentral8248 Год назад

      Yeah, you're right, on this occasion Jakob will care more about the position than the time I would presume. However, I don't see any reason why Jakob can't go for first place as well as breaking the 3:27 barrier, because even if Jakob goes out hard looking for a possible world record and fails, he'll still win the race because no other athlete can get close to him at the moment. I also think Jakob is too smart to go out at a ridiculous pace and blow up completely, he may fade but I don't think anybody will catch him.

      we cannot leave apart the fact that there will be two premilinary runs in BUD. Up until Silesia's DL 1500m he has been running every two weeks, so definetely, with the high demanding previous runs, I think the WR will not be in danger in Budapest.

    • @runnerscentral8248
      @runnerscentral8248 Год назад

      True, the heats and semi final may have a slight effect, but an athlete of Jakob's quality should progress through without over-exerting himself. I'm not sure if Jakob is going to double up at World Champs like he did last year with the 1500m and 5k, in which case that would definitely have an effect. But you're right, I don't think the World Champs is the place to break the WR.

    To me, this is world record. Until early 2000's cycling, running, skiing were all infected with EPO. And when did HEG and others run faster, in spite of slower tracks and shoes? You must be so naive to believe in those records. But still, even Flo-Jo's record stands, although nobody believes in it.

      I'm not going to deny that substances such as EPOs did exist in those days, however I wouldn't discount HEG's record and announce Jakob as the new record holder because of this. There is accusations out there that HEG may have taken performance enhancing drugs, however I don't know whether or not these are true. I think it would also be naive to discount the possibility that any athletes competing right now are doping, they may well be, but I am not in a position to make accusations like this, I just enjoy watching the sport :)
